More commonly known as the judicial center of the world, The Hague is a spectacular city in South Holland, serving not only as the seat of many international courts, but also the home of the Dutch Parliament and the residence of King Willem-Alexander, as well as many stunning buildings from the medieval age. Where Amsterdam is considered to be the wild, uncensored place where anything goes, The Hague is the quitter, more sedate answer to the edge and culture of Amsterdam. Its place as the seat of many of the world’s most important courts, including the International Criminal Court, makes The Hague a much more conservative place, but that’s not to say that it won’t be an exciting place to visit.
In addition to many green spaces and beautiful parks in which to experience the calm beauty of this city, The Hague is also home to many stunning buildings and historic centers, most of which are concentrated around the
City Center. While in the city center, explore the famous town square simply known as Plein, which is located near the
Binnenhof and is an elegant place in which to spend an afternoon.
In a city with so much culture and history, it can be hard to pick which museum to see and which to miss, but the
Escher in Het Paleis offers a unique perspective as its dedicated to the Dutch graphic artist M.C.Escher, who has accomplished graphic and geometrical patterns that defy the mind.
