a wonderful city. if staying close in you'd never realize it is so industrial. the city centre is full of gracious elegant buildings that are better maintained than many other European cities.
there are some wonderful museums - the palazzo reale and palazzo madama I would recommend to see before any others. some wonderful churches all gilt, sculptures, paintings, marble. the one to see before all others is the consolata - built in a oval shape. wonderful variety of cafes, restaurants, bars, patisseries from very cheap to expensive
Turin has all under one destination, excellent sightseeing, nice and old downtown, good food, and of course one has to include the visit to the Shrine of Turin and the royal palace.
Very friendly people and nice restaurants. I recommend to dine at le Scodelle via stampatori 16/c a little off the main center. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine and has an excellent lunch offer.
Public transport is convenient. Stay near to Port Nuova as it is convenient to go around the city and to other cities in Italy.
