Best hotels & accommodations in Urumqi

We had a large bed for us this time as we had requested the front desk to reserve when we checked out for Turpan. The room though not bigger but we like it more as it has a nice sofa and some plants. The A/C do not work this time of the year, the room was warm and stuffy, the temperature just refused to lower. The hotline explained that they Urumqi is not on heating a...

The location of Jinjiang Inn Urumqi Hongqi Road Branch is unbeatable, surrounding by shops, malls and restaurants. Easy to reach from Wulumuqinan Railway Station (Urumqi South Railway Station) by bus #8. Just 30-40 minutes from/to the airport by taxi. The room is quite big and super clean. The bed is definitely comfortable. Heater is reliable in winter. Staffs are prof...

The room was very clean and newly furnished (branch was set up recently in 2014). There was also no smoky cigarette smell unlike other branches (in other parts of China) we have stayed in. The inn is accessible by airport shuttle. Most importantly, the inn is open to foreigners.

Clean and comfortable room and bedding. But beware little coffee sachet is not free like all hotels in the world. Reception charged us $2 even though cleaning lady said it was free. There were also tons of drinks and stuff on sale in the room so beware. Even a tissue box costs $8. Room had a weird 'cabbage/vegetable-like stench coming from the toilet and we had to have...

It is a good hotel, well managed and kept than most of the other hotels managed locally. The surrounds of the hotel is clean, so are the rooms. The clients seems to be more cultured type as compared to some of the other type of hotels with loud mouth clients and spitting all over the place !!! The staff are friendly and speak English ! The room is well provided for. Th...

The hotel was very good in a town which - compared to other big towns of China - is at the beginning of its development. However when we arrived at the reception nobody knew about our Agoda booking. When we called up Agoda's customer service, after a long telephone conversation, Agoda's guy told us that sorry, they have difficulties to reach this hotel. If so, why Ago...

This hotel presented excellent value for money. It is quite big and airy but most importantly had a calm ambience. Breakfast was included as a bonus and pretty good. The location was fine, as we wanted to be nearer the big trade houses and market. Taxis are readily available and cheap. The best thing about the hotel was staff performance though. China is not easy witho...

The hotel is about 1/2 hour by taxi from the airport and is centrally located. When we got there the reception staff did not have the best english but a waitress was brought from the restaurant who was able to help us out. She was fantastic and would be better suited behind reception to be honest. The room was very comfortable and the bed was the best I have ever slpet...

Everything is fine except that the hotel lacks professional management. Evidence 1: front desk cannot confirm Agoda booking at check in; on day 3 after several phone calls between me, the front desk, and Agoda, the hotel finally confirms the payment has been made; then another staff at front desk questions the payment again at check out the next day. Evidence 2: the di...

We arrived the hotel and there was obviously no knowledge how Agoda reservations worked and they kept on asking question in chinese and translated through some program on a iPad about payment and that we had to pay. On the last day, they came and apologized, and the payment had arrived. Few of the personell could any english at all. The room looks really posh on th...

To say that English is spoken at the hotel is a gross overstatement. The staff I encountered had no or limited English which at times greatly impeded arrangements. Hotel transfers were advertised but owing to unclear instructions about which digits of the phone number to use in the Agoda booking sheet I was unable to arrange for an airport pickup. Return to airport was...

This place is a 2 hour taxi ride from Urumqi so far away that you have to pay double because the cab driver cant get a fair back. the 2.5km from the city is a total lie. We were so angry they gave us an upgrade to club and free meals. It is literally in the middle of nowhere. They promised that they would change the description on Agoda but 3 months later still the sam...

Traveler impressions of Urumqi
Travelling through Urumqi in October and November was problematic owing to rain, fog and snow which caused considerable flight delays.
Quaint city with a real mix of cultures; not sure that you are in China until you get a feel for the history of the area and the people there.
There is not much characteristic with the city of Urumqi. Just like any other city in China, very metropolitan with big giants buildings.
First time to this area but many other times to China. More pleasant than expected. People Park is a must.
