Last few days before closing”
We were very lucky to still have stayed here a couple of days before the massive renovation. I love its location as it lets me have access to the streetfoods of Silom. Also, some of the most popular bars are just a short walk away. Will surely be missing this hotel.
Will miss the Dusit Thani”
This was one of Bangkok's best hotels, in a great location with an attentive staff. Rooms were a little beat up, but there was always something going on in the lobby of the Dusit Thani. Unfortunately it's location led to its demise: just too valuable piece of property.
Last Day in a historic hotel”
Considering the hotel only had less than 24 hours of operations remaining before closure when I checked in, it was still in top condition. Everything in the guestroom was in working order and the common spaces and restaurants were looking good for the final day. Check-in and check-out went normally, although the attendants let me take my bags up to my room myself, which I felt was unusual for a 5-star hotel. Are there newer, better hotels? Perhaps. Nevertheless, I feel fortunate to have been able to stay in this historic hotel on the last day.
We came to say goodbye”
Alas, the Dusit Thani Bangkok closes this coming weekend. They are redeveloping the entire site. That said, we've stayed here many times over the years, and even with just a few days left to go, the service and quality remained excellent.
Great Hotel, Big Property”
Sure it's a bit aged and feels a bit like your grandmothers living room. BUT, It's Classy. It's Huge, and the Experience is great. They really do well to bring some luxury to your stay. It's a fun experience. I'll be back :-)
old hotel but very well maintained. very central. just outside hotel is MRT and BTS station. nearby is Patpong. i took the rooms without breakfast. the breakfast comes at 740bath a person. outside along Silom road are heaps of hawker stalls selling breakfast
You must experience this true 5 Star Hotel”
Superb in every way. One of the last great 5 Star hotels in Bangkok. I go there as often as I can since it will be gone in January 2019. You know the story...some Mega plaza taking it's place. Should keep the hotel for historic purposes.
Waiting for renovation”
This place is completely run down. The room is outdated and the decoration will beyond its life cycle. The hotel will consequently close (for renovation?) by Jan 9, 2019. It really seems like housekeeping is doing everything they can, which is appreciated. The age shows in other places - like drawers that won't close properly, or the water kettle which is stained and borderline gross. If you can look beyond these issues, most of which should be expected given it's in its last days of service, you can get a good deal in a good location with friendly staff all around. Excellent stay for short visit. However, if you're planning on staying more than a night or two - or even plan to spend some time in your room, do yourself a favor and choose one of the many other hotels around.
Best location in BKK”
Grand old hotel - superb rooms, friendly staff, excellent restaurants - but why eat here? Short walk to many treats on the streets, plus upscale places. Also, walk out of the hotel and onto either MRT or BTS train just outside the property.
hotel is located right next to silom mrt station and few mins walk to sala daeng station. also right across lumphini park, good for running. we got a room upgrade so everything was more spacious than the standard room we were supposed to get. i will stay here again because of its good location and if the price point is within range.
We stayed there for 4 nights and we are extremely satisfied. Sure the place is old but it has its glamour and it is well maintained. We love the hospitality of the staff they are genuinely happy to see you and serve you. The buffet is another fantastic experience the array of food and the taste! its all to go back to! The rooms are always kept clean and tidied up. Very near the train station. It was a great stay!
The Thai Heritage Suite at Dusit Thani”
I have been staying for Dusit for many times over many years. This is a historical crown jew of Thailand 5 start hotel, while it is getting " tired" due to the age. However the employees are working very hard to keep hotel in good condition, even as the hotel will close for renovation in 2019. When I checked in hotel , at reception Somsak is very kind and knowledgeable, and upgraded me to Thai Heritage Suite. It is really a wonderful experience. Restaurants in hotel are top in town, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Western...Really a good place to stay in the heart of Bangkok . Will come back again.
Before its Gone forever”
We chose to stay as we heard that the hotel is going to make room for some new developments. Nice hotel, but of course showing its age as well. We hope that with our next stay in Jan, they can have a room for us on the new wing. January 2019 will be the last month of this hotel operating. Great location with both subway (MRT) & skytrain (BTS) right in front of hotel. Its gonna be remembered.
Great location - comfortable luxury”
Dusit Thani is old and grand, a bit worn, but perfect for a stay in Bangkok. Steps away from BTS and MRT - easy access to many great locations. Walking from the hotel takes you to fine restaurants and cafes within easy reach.
Fantastic location amazing staff”
It’s right in the center of Silom so if you are into the night scene this hotel is perfect. also we came for songkran so it’s literally 1 minute away from the Main Street of where the water gun fight happens. It was the perfect location at the perfect timing. Would definitely stay here again for Songkran.
Elegance in the heart of Bangkok”
The Dusit Thani is an elegant tourist/business friendly hotel situated within a few metres of the subway system and a five munute walk from the skytrain. It is in the Silom district of Bangok. It is a large hotel with a coffee shop, several restautants, an outlet selling bakery items, and several shops. There is a large gym with adequate equipment, sauna and steam rooms, a golf range (under repair at the time of writing this review) and an outdoor pool surrounded by adequate sun loungers. The pool is modest in size and octagonal in shape so not suitable for seriou 'lap' swimmers! The hotel seems to be very popular as a place to hold seminars, business meetings and so forth. The staff are efficinet and friendly, The rooms are old, but well maintained and appointed.
Flawless hotel. Just flawless.”
Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel was amazing. From the doorman, bellboy, check-in managers, housekeeping, laundry, in-room dining and to all the staff. Excellent team, perfect. It was my birthday and they surprised me with cake, fresh flowers and card in my room. A pleasant surprise. Thank you Dusit Thani Bangkok. 11 stars out of 10.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Especially the concierge staff who helped me to direct my Uber car to the basement (there was a VIP arriving so we couldn't use the main lobby) . He carried our luggage down the stairs and walked a distance to look for the uber car.
Brief stay, great hotel!”
My wife and I travel to Bangkok quite often however had never stayed at the Dusit prior to this visit. Although we arrived late evening and checked out early morning I must say that the overall impression of the hotel was extremely positive and we shall definitely stay again in the future. The staff were attentive, there is a multitude of amenities/facilities and the location is great. I would very much like to thank the hotel for up-grading our room to the Dusit Room which was superb!
nice hotel closed to the Silom aerea”
the hotel is a good place to stay in. should book only a room into the main building..the other one wasnt that good. staff very friendly and polite breakfast was very good ... but not extraordinary room and bath a bit old styled, but clean , bright and quiet ( Studio room) for a city stay of 3 days a good and nice place to stay in. MRT and skyrain only 2min walk away
