    Good Location”

    Clean room

this hotel is really not set up for non chinese guests. the dining room where breakfast is serviced is not heated, nor are the hallways and reception area. the breakfast is strictly chinese style except for some cold cereals. as i was there during a cold spell in december, i found my room unbearably cold, but on my request, the hotel did provide a small heater which warmed up the room considerably, however. tea bags are prominently displayed in the hotel room in an inviting manner, but it turns out the tea bags are not free, but rather the guest is charged for each tea bag used.

    Great location, friendly staff”

    Location

Though the staff hardly speak English, they went out of their way to try and understand, and see to full customer satisfaction. There was free Internet in the room and a good business center in the hotel. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

    Nice but old”

    Service, location

I was staying in this hotel for five days; perhaps I could see things that a short stayer couldn't see. The hotel is located inside two small alleys where local apartments and small grocery stores surrounded. When passing by, you can see local residents playing Mahjong, charting, smoking, or simply doing nothing but watching you. With said, after passed the alleys, there are Kunming's most busy streets - Youth Road and Beijing Road where you can find everything, even a department store with LV retail shop. The hotel is pretty old, but employees are trained and helpful. However, you don't need much help but for check-in/out. While they don't even provide currency exchange, there are not many opportunities to engage a conversation. While the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, room partitions are poorly made. Since most guests are Chinese tourists and meeting goers, they sometimes drink, speak and laugh loudly in the silence of the night.

    location

Overall, our stay at the Economic Trade Hotel was ok. Only 2 members of the staff could speak English, so communication was a problem at times. For the price however, Id recommend this hotel.

Great location and very good hotel”

location, quality of features and service

the hotel is located on one of the main commercial streets of Kunming, but not right on it, thus making it a central as quiet place to stay. The hotel was recently renovated in most of its rooms ( though apparently not all of them, as for yet ). The service equalled that of Western upper end hotels. Not much of English was spoken but they'd find someone fluent in less than 5 min if needed.

    Kunming Review”

Location from Airport Close to good restaurants Not far from city center
Front desk staff need to be able to speak some English Hard to get some issues resolved without spending lots of time.

Overall, the experience at the hotel was good once you got over the fact that only one of the staff is in any way English proficient to be able to handle your problems. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was pretty good.

    Nice Hotel BUT”

Nice area, Cheap restaurants close by. Day tours available. Some staff spoke English well. The room is fine.
If you need something from the staff be prepared for 15 minutes of gesturing and dictionary work! No Wifi

The hotel is fine. The area is nice. I enjoyed my stay. When I booked in I had a fluent English speaker assisting me. She disappeared shortly after. The remaining staff (though helpful) can't speak English so the simplest of tasks (booking a tour etc) quickly become epic adventures in themselves. I liked the hotel and the staff but its not for impatient types.

    Economy Trade Hotel”

    Everything are up to date.
Some of the picture in the advertisement or brochure are not actual as what I saw.

The hotel are quite good and inpressive. All facilities and equipment are good and up to date. The only sat thing is that, it is situated deep inside from the main road. It could be been better if it is situated along the main road. The accessiblality is very good. I can just go to the main City in just few minutes and working distance. The staff are quite friendly and the best part all the manager can communicate in Englist that make my work easier. All of all I sitisfied with the hotel and its services.

    Average Hotel”

In the middle of city and shopping areas
Room and toilet are rather old and need to upgrade or renovate. Shower water pressure is low and take a while to get hot water. Hotel rules stated if temperature between 16 - 26 or 28 degrees celsius, there will be no air-conditioning service. But during day time in October, the weather is hot and the room can be quite stuffy.

The room and toilet rather old and small. Shower experience is bad due to low water pressure. Room get stuffy during day time with no air conditioning. Hotel staff is helpful as they trying to accomodate my request to change from double bed room to single bed room.

    Great stay”

very friendly and helpful staff comfortable rooms great breakfast buffet easy walk to mall and restaurants quiet
off a main road, so hard to get a taxi room was hot; a/c wasn't very strong

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the staff very helpful. It was off the main road, which was good and bad. The hotel was quiet, but difficult to find a taxi at times. We were able to walk to several malls and restaurants, and we even walked to Green Lake from there. It was a good location. We only had time for the breakfast buffet one day, but really enjoyed it. There was a variety of Chinese and Western options, and good black tea! Overall, we had a good experience here.

    Really bad smokey hotel”

It is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.
The rooms are small and dingy. We requested non-smoking, there is no such thing. The smell was disgusting

Kunming is a noisy city with lots of traffic, and not many hotels to choose from. It took about an hour to get from the airport (although it was quicker in the early morning) None of the staff seem to speak English. The room was disappointing. The linen, beds and room all smelled of cigarette smoke.

    It was clean and comfortable
No one could speak English and did not even try to help you. The staff just did not seem intrested at all.

The hotel is just of the main road which makes it a little bit hard to find. There is no maps or anything to help you in English. The staff are very unhelpful but I think that is due to them not speaking English. There is not much in the area of the hotel you will need to get a taxi unless you like to walk. I found a couple of bars and resturants about 20 mins away by the river.

good four star hotel. Clean and friendly. Internet was reasonably priced.
The room was a bit noisy.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly. Lots of Chinese business travelers and one wedding. My room was clean, with tub and a English movie station. The location is good, near the zoo (not special), shopping and the best temple in town. I'd stay there again.

    Economic but still lovely”

Location. Friendly Staff. English Speaking Staff. Room Size. Food - quality and portion size. Bath.
No natural light as room looked onto corridor. TV poor picture quality.

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at the Econmic Tade Hotel. Right from the moment we entered we felt comfortable. The receptionists were friendly and even if they were not sure with English, they always called for someone who did. Which we greatly appreciated, as most questions were speedily answered. Once in our room we were very pleased with the overall quality. Maybe a little dated but it was full of freebies and helpful information. The bed size was on the large and there were any amount of toiletries in the bathroom, even a set of weighing scales. We ate at the hotel as well & the food was excellent with massive portion sizes. Although, i had to go downstairs and buy a bottle of coke from the shop, because the restaurant had none. Not the end of the world by any means. All in all, our stay was very successful, so much so that we booked to stay again a week later.

    Good basic hotel”

Good value for money, internet access in some rooms available for 15rmb per day
Only the manager and assistant manager spoke English, non-smoking zones not enforced, hot water takes a long time come on (if it does)

One of the cheapest hotels in Kunming. Location is reasonably central and a 20min walk to the Green Lake. Caters for mainly Chinese business men with very few tourists. First night was put in a room which was quite dark and dusty with no hot water. Was moved to a different room which was a little brighter, clean, with hot water and internet access (for 15rmb a day). Internet access was via lan and reasonable fast and reliable. Had breakfast in the hotel each day and was a little annoyed that people smoking over the buffet was not better policed. Ash in food is not the same as cracked pepper. Dinner in the hotel is a bit of a rip-off but to be expected for a hotel restaurant. Cost 69rmb and basically the same sort of buffet as the breakfast with a few extra dishes.
