Nice rooms and nice hotel. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but everything ells was nice. ”
Nice rooms and nice hotel. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but everything ells was nice. Wish there was a coffee-shop at the lobby, or something like that... Onsen was nice and room was comfortable.
Convenient. Good choice if you are traveling with young children or old folks.”
The hotel staffs are friendly. Breakfast restaurant environment and service is good. But Breakfast choice is limited - either japanese or American breakfast. Hotel room is big and comfy. There is Onsen available in the hotel and free for guest. Very near to the bus stop (about 1 min walk only) where you can ride on the bus to most of the Hakone Tourist spots using Hakone Free Pass. Hakone Free Pass can be purchased at Shinjuku Station Odawara Station. Getting it at Odawara station and you can use the free pass to ride on the bus direct go to Hakone Highland hotel. The bus will stop at the bus stop right outside of the hotel. It’s a less than a min walk of distance from bus stop to the hotel. Wheel Chair (fold up), baby stroller (fold up) and Big Luggage is allowed to bring onboard. Recommended for traveller with baby, old fold and in a family.
Lovely hotel with great facilities”
Slightly pricey but facilities were great. Used the public baths Everyday, and room was big and well furnished. Location slightly out of the way from hakone Yumoto and Gora, but with the hakone free pass, it’s still good enough.
Great location fantastic views calm and peaceful with hammock in garden area ”
This is a great hotel away from most others , so it will be more peaceful and calm with awesome views and some trails nearby. The room was good even we had the cheaper older rooms that you can see in the pictures but still clean and convenient and comfortable The birds sing for you for free all day and there are binoculars to bird watch. Hammock outside was great i fell sleep for two hours on it without being disturbed by any unwanted noise. Truly peaceful in hakone area. Highly recommend Restaurant is expensive for dinner, but looks oishi (tasty) Thanks, Highland Hotel
Your Great Getaway in Hakone!”
The hotel is accessible via bus (from JR Odawara station, take Odakyu bus going to Togendai. The hotel is directly infront of the bus stop). If you have big luggage, suggest to have it shipped directly to the hotel. The bus is usually full. Hotel is far from top Hakone destinations but our purpose as a couple was just to relax and make use of their facilities. We booked a room with its own onsen so we made the most out of it. They also have an aqua lounge for relaxation and their water is very clean and has lots of minerals. Try their Japanese style breakfast, while a bit pricey, is a good experience. Most of the time, we buy food from a 7/11 store 500m from the hotel. We had a fun and relaxing time.
The hotel is near a few museum such as little prince museum and the venetian glass museum. bus stop is also just outside the hotels. there is a small garden in the hotel, nothing much to see, but nice looking. the onsen is pleasant.
Great couples retreat!”
If you want to experience Hakone as a king, go here! I admit, the place is a bit pricy, but it is worth it! The staff treat you so nicely and the rooms are beautiful. We got the room with the hot springs bath so we didn’t need to leave our room at all! The rooms are spacious and clean and you can order a massage in your room as well! The only con was the restaurant at the hotel wasn’t open all day (would close between breakfast/lunch/dinner). And you’d have to walk to find another restaurant (which most either close at 5 or open at 6). Other than that, it was a relaxing trip to Hakone that was nice after all the hectic traveling in Japan.
Room was spacious and modern. Our room had a private onsen on the patio/balcony with a view of the beautiful grounds. Was a bit nervous that we had to take a 40 min bus ride from JR Odawara, but the bus stops almost directly in front of the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay!
Very efficient and pleasant check in, as the receptionist somehow saw and came to help with our bags as we walked from the bus stop, which is just in front of the hotel. Big room compared to rest of our Japan experiences. Town centre around 10-12mins walk away and tax free supermarket 6 mins walk down the road, where we got our breakfast. Also good location to do Mt Kintoki trail, start of trail takes around 15mins to walk to from hotel. Highlight of this hotel was the onsen, very luxurious, quiet (only 2 other guys whilst i was there) and relaxing after doing the trail!
We had a beautifully decorated modern room with a private onsen. The room interior was absolutely stunning. Extremely spacious room with comfortable beds, rain-shower, private onsen, bluetooth speakers and balcony. The french course dinner was simple but delicious. The hotel remembered our wedding anniversary and had us a hand written message decorated into the desert. The open park was great for instagram worthy shots too. A little pricey but highly recommended.
Good hot spring hotel at Hakone. ”
It's lovey hot spring hotel located at highland part of Hakone, beautiful lawn and pine tree at the side of the hotel. Natural hot spring water is lovey, facility is not quite big but good enough. Typical Japanese hotel cleanness standard. Will not disappointing you.
good for relax”
some what isolated location. but i liked the quietness. space rooms and hotel facilities. if you dont like ryokan with too much attention and wants to be stay anonymous this is good one. one very big minus is too small out door onsen: size of two bath tubs.. also quiet a bit of noisy chinese..
To arrive to this hotel from Odawara station, East Exit, & take Bus T. The reception staff were extremely polite/friendly. However, there's a lack of English speaking staff. Even though, they do try their best to understand what you mean. The private in-room onsen was amazing and spacious, which was the main reason of my stay in this hotel. Location wise, it is close to some Hakone attractions, but you will need the bus to reach other areas.
Good value for money and relaxing”
Very clean hotel and room, feels like a resort. Onsen is not big, but clean and relaxing. Breakfast is available in either Japanese and Western set, which was delicious but portion of Japanese one is not enough for me. Walking distance to Little Prince mesuem. Staff does not speak English very well. Recommed to stay.
Comfortable hotel, good location, good value...”
It was a very relaxing and pleasant stay. 1. Hotel only has one restaurant open for dinner which is French Cuisine. A little pricy but the food was outstanding and presentation superb. Service was excellent. 2. They don't have a full (American) bar set up but one of the managers of the restaurant can make an excellent Martini! 3. you have a choice for breakfast whether it is American Style or Japanese so we did one of each for our two breakfasts. Each was very delightful, tasty, with nice presentation. 4. They don't have room service. 5. Taxis are pretty scarce after 6:00pm, having to wait at least 20 minutes for one to arrive. 6. There are a number of restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk or 2-3 minute car ride. 7. Would definitely recommend having a rental car as a number of attractions including Ashinoko (LAKE) is about 20 minutes from the hotel. 8. Lots of attractions within a 15-20 minute car ride.
A nice hotel”
The hotel is on the main road, so it is easy to find. It is so cloce to the glass museum. The staff are all great. Room is comfortable. Nice garden and great onzen. We love this hotel. The restaurant only serves the french food, but there are some restaurants you can find in the near area.
Would stay again ”
Booked this hotel because of its proximity to various museums I wanted to visit around the area including the Little Prince Museum. Location was great, especially since it is right in front of the bus lines (one that goes to Gotemba Premium Outlets.) my stay was excellent. I experienced very good service from the hotel and wait staff, and the room was so spacious, comfortable and quiet. I didn't have dinner at the hotel (we were too tired and opted instead for a quick dinner from a convenience store down the road) but our Japanese breakfast was excellent. Also enjoyed walking around the hotel grounds - it is very picturesque. I also enjoyed the public onsen very much.
Spacious hotel with private onsen (hot spring), comfortable”
The hotel is very good with very nice scene and quiet. My room is very spacious with 2 king beds and private onsen (hot spring). The hot spring and the room are very comfortable , and the hotel is located just next to the beautiful Hakone Venetian Glass Museum and The Little Prince Museum. Bus stop is just next to the hotel entrance. Hotel car park is free as well.
Very nice hotel, love their hot spring! We went there in nov, the autumn season, the natural color of leaves is so beautiful in their garden! The location seems so far on the map, but just take a bus in the station, for about 20 mins, with a stop exactly at the hotel entrance. And the bus is included in the hakone pass. Love to come again :)
Nice hotel in peaceful neighborhood ”
Nice onsen Nice rooms Friendly staff Supermarket nearby Good connection to bus Quiet expensive like most hotels in Hakone
