Lovely hotel by Lake Asho”
Great view of Lake Ashi. We were fortunate to see Mt Fuji during our stay due to good weather. The hot springs are not very big but nice and clean and well maintained. The environment is generally peaceful and the staff, helpful.
The hotel staff were really friendly and nice. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel but note that the bus ride from Odawara station is more than 1hour and the roads are windy. We got a room that looked directly at Mount Fuji so very pleased with that. Also just next door to the cruise which was helpful.
Fantastic location with morning views of Mt Fuji over breakfast. We enjoyed the nice big bedroom although a bit overheated. disappointed with lack of facilities. Little information in rooms about facilities or surrounding area. Price was reasonably high range, but Paper coffee cups in our room. Not sure why they couldn’t put proper coffee cups in the room. Everything closes at 6pm in Hakone, but no room service, you either had to go to the bar, wait for your meal & eat downstairs or go to the restaurant there. Beware happy hour, they tell you some drinks are half price, but actually they were the same price outside of happy hour. Haha Staff were lovely, overall a great two night stay. 😀
Million dollar views”
What an amazing way to end our holiday in Japan. The views from our room were unbelievable, with the full wall being a window. It really was something special. Dinner and breakfast were both lovely, but be prepared to eat there and pay the cost associated as we really couldn't find anything else nearby that was open for the times that suited. Book early if you want teppenyaki, it only sits 14 people I think. I wish we stayed more than 1 night!
A hotel worthy for repeat staying.”
Room size is perfect. Onsen is small but clean. Staffs speaks little English but are generally polite and friendly. Very close to the pirate ship station. There aren’t too many types I. The buffet breakfast but the Denish was fairly good. We as a family of 8 ppl like the place a lot.
Everything is very good. Staff is friendly. it has shuttle bus from odawara station, remember to contact them to book the bus. the view from the hotel to lake ashi is perfect, you can see mount fuji from your room. the hotel is dated but still very good. beware of the are at night, every restaurants is closed after 6pm no convenient store also, so you have to eat at 3 restaurants in the hotel, they have different price range and affordable
Its not a good time for our visit as its foggy and raining. Check weather before going.”
The location is good if you want to do the cruise, but that's pretty much it. Breakfast OK.”
We arrived around noon and were planning to go soon on the cruise, which starts at the port next door. I asked if it would be possible to check-in early to take a shower before we head further, I was met with a polite but stern "Check-in is at 3pm". I explained that I am aware, but asked if subject to availability we would nevertheless be allowed now. Without even checking, the reply came back immediately "Check-in is at 3 pm, you pay now, you leave your luggage here. You can get your key card after 3pm." Yeah allright. On our return in the evening we were shown our room, which was ok, and were told the local onsen on one of the floors is being refurbished and we can use another hotel's onsen. We passed as we were tired. We wanted to have dinner somewhere out since the restaurant was quite expensive and had a rather limited choice, but every dining place around the hotel closes at 5 or 6 pm, so if you want to dine out, you would need a taxi to the next village. Breakfast was ok.
Fantastic hotel, lovely onsen”
The view from the rooms is spectacular, the onsen are great (especially the open-air one on the third floor) and the restaurants serve tasty food. The hotel sits a two minute walk (at most) from the Hakone-Machi bus terminal and the pirate ship departure point, and has a bus stop directly across the street as well. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. I recommend this hotel highly.
great one because they have a shuttle bus from odawara to hakone hotel. the back view of lake ashi so awesome. so near with the harbour of sightseeing cruise. and the bus stop infront of the hotel only. the minus of the hotel is little bit far from convenience store but it still awesome
Charming old hotel by Lake Ashi”
I've visited Hakone five times already. The rates of Hakone Hotel were extremely reasonable by local standards. The view of the lake from the room on a clear day is a sight to behold. I loved the breakfast and the free daily cocktails. The onsens, especially the outdoor one, were a great way to relax after a long day of exploring Hakone. I would stay at this hotel again.
Cozy Hotel ”
Service is good and not too many rooms in the hotel. Location is great that you can either take boat or bus here easily. Bed and room are both cozy and big. Surrounding is very quiet so need to dine in the hotel or eat out then come back. Btw, the view from the hotel is the lake view and from the side.
Beautiful lake views from the onsen, comfortable and convenient”
Very convenient location to start your day tour of the Hakone area, as the Pirate Ship (Sightseeing Cruise) is just 5 mins walk away. There's also a bus stop opposite the hotel. Breakfast was amazing! Delicious food, lots of options, and great views of Mount Fuji from the restaurant. Loved the 2 different Onsen, especially the openair one with views over the lake and across to Mount Fuji. As per other reviews, it's not a super modern hotel, but the facilities are fine. Spacious, comfortable and warm rooms. We travelled in December, and found that the local restaurants closed by 6pm on Monday and Tuesday nights. So on our first night we ate in one of the hotel restaurants. On our second night we had an early dinner at one of the small seafood restaurants opposite the hotel. Convenience store also closed early. We pre-booked the hotel shuttle bus from Odawara station, and it was easy to find.
We were lucky to see Mount Fuji and that too right from our bedroom window. There is also a 'free' pickup/Drop off, to and from Odawara station to the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hakone!
Beautiful hotel by a serene lake, but boring town”
Stayed here with my parents for a few nights as we toured Hakone and as a base of travel, it is great. Situated by a lovely lake, it is the mid point of the Hakone Circuit; meaning you can connect to the main station via a 45 minute bus ride or take the boat across to the cable car station and back round the other way. The hotel itself is beautiful and immaculate with a nice art deco style - the view of the lake is enchanting. Rooms are decent and clean. The hotel served a lovely buffet breakfast and the baths on site were nice. The downsides of this hotel are the location and the lack of options for travellers. There are graveyards more lively than the nearby town with no restaurants open past 7pm and no convenience stores or any options to eat there were many groups of hungry visitors wandering around the streets with no food at 8pm. If you don't eat before you arrive at the hotel or bring food, you are stuck with the hotel's overpriced pseudo French cuisine at $100 plus a head. Fine if you are expecting Gordon Ramsay but come on...
Nice Scenary and good service ”
Although this hotel is a little expensive but overall I like my experience with this hotel. The service was really good, the staff were kind and polite and they spoke English as well. The breakfast & onsen was not bad too.
It was nice we Love the room a big space clean very relaxing enjoying the view and my kids love the swan boat and we love the food especially the dinner and the breakfast the chef cook the egg it was so cute the egg with a character I love it the hotel is old it's not so big but it's nice staying the hotel & also I was scared the stairs in the lobby for the children small space for the lobby.
Hotel with fantastic view and location”
It was the highlight of my one-week trip in Japan. Hakone hotel is most conveniently situated by the side of Lake Ashi and all its rooms have lake view. It is just next to the jetty to take the cruise on Lake Ashi on a pirate ship. It is also within 5 min walk to the old Hakone checkpoint, another attraction. The hotel has a private bath which comprises an onsen and a hot jacuzzi. We were given a welcome drink of hot orange squash with rum which was warm and delicious on a cold evening. The only downside is that you need to book and eat dinner at the hotel unless you are prepared to sit very early outside as the restaurants nearby close very early between 5 and 6pm.
The best view overlooking lake Ashi and Mount Fuji”
Well trained English speaking staff assisting us to our room and the facilities inside. The view from our room is magnificent. Although the furniture is a bit old but they still maintain the cleanliness of the place. Located a bit far from the town but best venue for couples and visitors who like quiet and peaceful surroundings.
fantastic hotel will a out of the world view”
The first thing that you will notice about this hotel is the fantastic view. you can see mount fuji from your room and the courtyard is so beautiful you wish to have your wedding there. With such great scenary and nice room. I decided to propose to my girlfriend at this hotel. The staff was very helpful in our email communication and suggested some ways on how best to arrange my special event. During our stay, the staff went beyond their duty to help us make our stay as comfortable and romantic as possible. The hotel is in a remote area of hakone although most places can be reached by bus and ship terminal nearby. Food at the restaurant is delicious. you can choose between western fare and teppanyaki. We tried the french restaurant and it definately taste the best the country can offer. To get there take bus H or R from hakone yumoto station. You can start your sightseeing trip from there. The onsen is a staggered time spa alternating between male and female timings. do check with the staff when you can enter the spa. All in all, fantastic rooms, service and facilities at a very reasonable price.
