Getting its name from the Shin-Osaka JR station located just five minutes away by subway and 20 minutes away by foot, Hotel Claiton Shin Osaka has easy access to a bullet train and subway station. The close proximity to public transportation makes it quick and easy to explore cities further afield like Kyoto, Kobe, and downtown Osaka. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and feature a plasma TV, high-speed Internet, and en-suite bathroom. Facilities include an in-house salon and lively bar, and all visitors should experience the popular lunch and dinner buffets served at the exclusive hotel restaurant, Rivage.

Helpful and humble staff ”
Really we enjoy to stay. Very convenient for food and public transport. Most important staff very helpful and flexible.
Not bad for an old hotel. It has what you need and enough space to open your suit case. There is a decent spa/sauna for men only, and self-laundry machines. There are massage chairs for your use while you wait for your laundry. A short walk to the train station, I don’t really hear the trains or the bells of the crossing, but then I had a window that faces the south.
We had a few days stay in this hotel and had no complaints so far. The hotel was very basic though and very small with little to no space at all for the luggage. I suggest if you are booking this hotel, make sure that you have medium sized luggage with you, otherwise, it would be very hard to unpack/pack and move around. The hotel is near the train station and have a lot of quaint restaurants nearby. Like most of the hotels in Japan, their tv does not have english channels. Wifi can be choppy at times but overall our stay was satisfactory.
Free hot spring for men”
The location is a bit hard to find. They need more detail direction as the hotel is "hidden" among other buildings. Overall as good as it gets. No problem at all. Will stay again at the same price. Resturants around the hotel has decent variety but some close down early.
The hotel is located very close to the subway with fast access to the main areas in Osaka. Very friendly staff. The hotel room is a bit small and wifi is quite weak. However, with the price that I paid, the condition is acceptable. Overall experience is great and I would definitely consider this hotel again in the future.
- The hotel location is near subway and train that easy to go into Osaka or Kyoto or Nara. - Room is clean and BF is good. - On the 2nd floor, There are massage machine and onsen for men only. That's free!!!
Excellent Hotel for budget travelers in Osaka”
The hotel sits in a great location in Shin-Osaka. Very clean and comfortable. Friendly staf. The breakfast was good. However their main dish at many times would be beef or pork. There are many train stations near by. However Shin-Osaka station is 15 minutes walk away. JR pass holders could not use other stations.
Quite a nice hotel”
Surprised to find that the hotel is so close to the railway station but it is very quiet. We overslept on one day because we close the curtains and did not turn on the alarm clock. The breakfast quality is above average. We always started with the day in good status after taking the breakfast at the hotel. The most impressing one is that the breakfast price has been bundled with the room charge. How nice it is! The public bath facility is good as well. It helped me to release all the stress and fatigue after whole day shopping (walking). Overall speaking, I rated Hotel Claiton with high points. Will consider to stay this again when we visit Osaka next time.
really comfortable hotel”
it was a very comfortable hotel. it isn't exactly in the thick of the city, but it is a very easy train ride from shin-osaka station. it has lotsa food joints around and convenience stores which make for a comfortable stay. no wifi though, only LAN connection.
Lovely hotel and great customer service!”
The service is great and I love the convenience of the hotel, very close to the subway station. You will feel very comfortable there since there's free usage of onsen on the 2nd floor. The toilets are awesome as well, they have the bidet function which cleans your bottom very well.
good service, great location in a quiet area ”
It is situated near a subway station and a train station to Kyoto. Staff's attitudes were excellent. Though the room was small, facilities inside the room were sufficient enough and internet access was provided. By the way, a hot spring (bath) was provided on the 2nd floor.
Clean, Inexpensive and Convenient Hotel”
We spent 9 nights at the hotel. Room is standard size in Japan and it is clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The biggest advantage is how close it is to different train stations. Subway is 3 minute walk and another ground train station is also next to the subway station. It takes 200yen and 2 min to go from subway to the JR Shin-Osaka station but you can just walk there easily within 15min. To go to Kyoto, there's no need to take expensive bullet train. From JR Shin-Osaka, the S. Rapid train (there are 3 kinds: normal, rapid and S. rapid) takes only 25 min to go to Kyoto and it is only 540 yen. Besides Osaka, we went to Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, Arima hot spring and other places easily. The longest trip was to Arima hot spring and it was 70 min. This hotel serves well as the central hub to visit other places in Kansai. Within Osaka, it is 10 min to Osaka Station/Umeda area and 20 min to Namba. These are 2 of the major shopping and dinning areas. around the hotel, there are various convenient stores(Family Mart, Lawson..etc) and a grocery store (Gourmet City). Wired internet is free in the room and the wire is provided. Refrigerator is also in the room and we could store drinks and ice-cream we bought. Train noise is minimum (none between 12am-5am) and we have no problem sleeping through the night. If we visit Kansai again, we will certainly go back to this hotel.
Excellent value and location”
we enjoyed our stay at Clayton Shin Osaka as it was well located to get around Osaka and also to journey around Kansai region. We simply had a great time and the price was a joke in comparison to other hotels we stayed at in Kansai, absolutely value for money, we would stay there again for sure ande loved the mix breakfast buffet Japanese/Western style with a wide range of choices
Good Room and Helpful staff”
The rooms were clean both times I've stayed there. The staff is friendly and it is only 300 yards from the nearest subway train. The subway nearest runs through the center of all the town so accessing many places is very easy. The hotel is a little off the beaten path, but the rooms were quiet and the beds quite comfortable. I would recommend the hotel room for someone travelling to Osaka for a business trip or for pleasure.
one of the good hotel”
Easy access by subway, just one station from Shin-Osaka (Shinkansen terminal). They said 3 minutes walk from subway but I use about 5 minutes ha ha.The room is small, as it is the standard size of Japan. But they provide all facilities in the room. Because of their resonable price, easy access and variety of breakfast, I'll stay in this hotel again next time.
The hotel rooms were very small but the staff were helpful and nice. The breakfast was excellent and the spa was really nice. Good Value hotel for 120 dollars but probably would have been disappointed a little if it was not for the breakfast and spa
Clean and nice hotel with a lot of amenities”
Pros: - Quite near to the train station, about a 5-minute walk. - There's a Family Mart less than 5 minutes walk away. - Staff are really nice and helpful. - A lot of in-house amenities such as vending machines, coin laundry & dryer, massage chairs, and a men's-only onsen. - Overall the hotel itself is quiet and you feel rather homey staying there. Cons: - It's right beside the train tracks, so you can definitely hear when the train passes -- not great if you are a light sleeper. - Rooms are on the small side. - There's not much to do within the Shin-Osaka area, which is great if you dislike the hustle & bustle, not great because it's a little far from the Umeda and Shinsaibashi area.
Worth staying during promotion. Most of the guest are men. The onsen facility also meant for men. The room is small. Quite clean to my bare eyes but my companion with asthma and sensitive to dust will know that its not. Theres freebies upon check-in. I got some Kose brand samples and some pads for tired feet! Thanks....they are very useful...the chambermaid is so kind, she even asked my companion to rest at next door while she did the cleaning. Excellent service! Thank you!
Two blocks from Nishinakajima-Minamigata (M14) subway station, one stop from Shin-Osaka station, passing 2 convenient stores, Family Mart and Lawson, to the hotel.
beautiful hotel but the train will make noise when u sleep...”
the hotel is near the railway,,,so there's noise when u sleep...
