Full service hotel, a little expensive”
I stayed here twice on a recent trip. The 1st room for 3 was spacious; the room for 2 was cramped but well thought-out in having plenty of drawers. The bathrooms for both rooms were more characteristic of business hotels than 4-star ones. Also characteristic more of business hotels was the fact that early check-in would have cost about $20/hour and an upgrade to a higher floor (same room) also would have required additional payment. Most first-class hotels provide such service for free. Unlike business hotels, the Metropolitan has a large and attentive staff and numerous on-site restaurants. Limousine buses from the site to Haneda and Narita airports are a plus. The location of the hotel is just steps away from one of the Ikebukuro Station entrances. Ikebukuro Station serves many train and subway lines so in that way it is very convenient. The station is huge, though, so one should know that being steps away from the station doesn't mean steps away from boarding a train.
Good Location & good service”
Good service for free upgrade the room to higher floor. Nice view & good location.
Nice hotel. Convenient.”
Great location. The hotel locates right next to the Ikebukuro station. The front desk is helpful and friendly. I stayed at the middle priced standard twin room- The size is relatively sized by tokyo hotel standard. Did not check the hotel facility since I spent all time sightseeing and shopping. This is my at least fifth stay at this hotel. Will return.
Good location and nice room. Just that the pillow is too soft that doesnt provide a good support for the head.
A good location to travel around”
Clean, nice and with good service. The room is larger than I thought Tokyo's hotels would be
Room is tried, only convenience because next to train station.”
Room is old but location is greats. And for some reason could not sleep at all even for a night, so uncomfortable without reason why.
It is very close to the train station and department stores. There are couple convenient stores near by. By the way, I was disappointed on the hotel room. I stayed at non-smoking floor, but I still smelled cigarette smoke inside the room.
Great location and decent room size in terms of a Tokyo hotel.
The location is awesome. It is within walking distance to Ikebukuro Subway Station. There are plenty of good beef bowl & Ramen stalls, shopping centres and pharmacy stores in the vicinity. The hotel staff is friendly and polite. They help to arrange for taxi for us from the Hotel to Haneda Airport on the day of our departure. The hotel room is spacious for 3 persons. The view from #22 is awesome. The amenities are great ~ safe deposit box, hair dryer, mini fridge, bath salt and facial lotion were provided. The lobby ambience and the corridor leading to our rooms were cosy and nice! Their Drip / UCC coffee was interesting. Unfortunately, the TV programmes were not so interesting as mostly were in Japanese. We watched the BBC news usually. We will definitely consider booking this Hotel room again when we return to Ikebukuro in the future.
Excellent Location, Comfy Hotel”
I love Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro because : (1) It is spacious for 3 persons (2) The view from #22 is good (3) The room's amenities are good. It provides Bath Salt for the Bathtub; mini-set facial care products (Decorte AQ); hair dryer is powerful; it comes with bath, face and hand towels; I love the UCC (drip) coffee. (4) It is within walking distance to Ikebukuro Station. It has many shopping centres such as Seibu, Tobu, Lumine, Metropolitan Plaza, Sunshine City, (5) It is near to "Wudi Ramen Outlet", Bic Camera, Don Don Donki (24 hours), and many more (6) Staff speaks good English. They are polite and help to call taxi for us to go to the Haneda International Airport. Will definitely stay in Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro when I return in the future.
Great location! Minutes walk to ikebukuro many train lines. Few stops away to Shinjuku/Harajuku/Shibuya There is a morning bread shop opposite, a 24hr family mart and a supermarket down the road. Ikebukuro offers tonnes of food options and shopping is a plenty too! Room size ok Clean Deco dated but is still comfortable
Excellent service and location”
I travelled with my family and mother who uses a wheelchair. The hotel has excellent wheelchair facilities (ramps etc). It is easy to wheel my mother from the hotel to Ikebukero train station. Before the trip, I asked the hotel many questions, the staff replied with very detailed step-by-step instructions. Staff is very helpful with restaurant reservations (please note that most restaurants in Japan require Japanese-speaking reservations). Highly recommend this hotel. We will stay at this hotel again if we visit Tokyo in future.
My 2nd home in Tokyo”
All good; except was surprised to find out on our last night stay that there are lots of dust under the bedside table!!! really shocked us as cleanliness is so important especially to the Japanese. We stayed for 8 nights; hope this will not happen on our next visit!!
Great staff, near metro & great food options”
Very attentive & helpful staff. Location is metro & JR lines. Food & shopping aplenty.
A Strategic Location at the Heart of Tokyo”
This is our first visit to Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro. We absolutely love the location. It's a 3-min walk to the Ikebukuro station and located at the heart of all shops and eateries. We would never run out of food! The room is clean and the facilities are sufficient for our stay. However, we find the room a bit tight as we are a family of three and also we request an additional bed for our child. The location and accessibility make up for everything! This hotel is also one of the stops for Airport Limousine.
Location close to Ikebukuro Station.”
Pros : Location , friendly staff Cons : room not very spacious (but think this is the norm in Japan), no free breakfast. Special Thanks to : Reception Staff (Ms Kumagai) who provided nice, friendly service to me during check in. Will email to your management for these compliments if I can find the email.
Everything was on par and beyond despite aging facilities.”
Pros: friendly and professional staff, close by to multiple train lines in the heart of Tokyo, within walking distance to some of the best restaurants in Tokyo and shopping malls. Cons: The bathrooms has seen it's days and can use a makeover.
Everything ok, room size small, disappointed room didn't provide bottle water for this price I paid!!! I travel around the world this is first time hotel didn't provide bottle water , sound prove not so good , can hear room next to me or upstairs when their walk !
This 23-floors hotel is located in the heart of Ikebukuro district of Tokyo, close to metro station, shopping center and food & bars. I was lucky to get the deloux room upgrade when they kindly noticed I am there for a special occasion. The hotel service was professional and friendly (if you ignore the initial paperwork, which seemed a bit too much). The room was quiet and the facilities were working well (one has to pay extra to use gym). The hotel hosts several restaurants as well (but they are pricey). A big advantage if this hotel is that the Narita Airport shuttle bus has a stop there, so one can have a hassle-free transport from the airport (takes about 90 minutes and costs around 30€). Also there is a portable Wifi modem in the room that you can use to connect to internet even when you head out. I am very glad that I booked this hotel for the first night of my arrival in Tokyo after a long flight.
A little dated”
The hotel is in an excellent location, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you are taking a side trip, you can leave your big luggage under the hotel's care when you check out for your trip, and there are limousine services to both Narita and Haneda. The buffet breakfast is superb at Cross Dine, and make a reservation at Ovest, the piano bar, for an after dinner drink so you can sit by the window for the nighttime view. My only problem is that the furnishings are a bit old, the kind where the edges of the veneers are chipped, and the closet has issues when you try to close the doors.
