LOVE LOVE LOVE!”
My Partner and i headed to Tonga in November 2017. Instead of staying with his family we opted to stay at Liku'alofa. was the most amazing experience - Room: was simple, just what we needed. Bathrooms could have been cleaner but i did not expect more. Our room did stay it had a tv, however i didn't notice until we were about to leave that there wasn't one there, we were too busy relaxing and exploring the island. Staff: could not fault, all such lovely and generous people Snorkelling off the beach was simply amazing we snorkelled everyday when the water was clear on both low and high tide. Food: we had the free continental breakfast daily, was so beautiful to watch the water and have in season fruits. Dinner was also great overlooking the sunset, every day we would see whales passing by. I would highly recommend the fish from the restaurant. 100% recommend, will be heading back 2018

great budget accommodation ”
location was great. relaxed and informal.
As a low budget resort it was what I expected. fales are basic but pretty clean although they could use some bleach in the showers! Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming but could use some training to help them out a bit. Food was pretty hit n miss.....but its Tongan style and they are trying. Stock up on non alcoholic mixers and snacks before you go. But its a really lovely place, not at all commercial and a great place for couples it groups or even single travelers. Not suitable for children under 10yrs. Would go back.

Staff were amazing - we were treated like royalty.”
People, people, people!
Great stay even though weather wasnt brilliant. The pool was a bit disappointing, as was the shower but the staff made up for any shortcomings with their friendly service. They really added the personal touch and made us feel very special.

communication breakdown”
ocean pool
double booked so taken 10 km down road. No food so the other resort kindly picked us up and took us back to likikoka but 2 hours wait for omelette then dinner was another 2 hour wait, was freezing but they bought us a towel. could see the whales swimming right past so bring binoculars. Didnt see rooms but saw lady on plane and they loved it. $5 tongan for a coconut which is expensive as they are dripping off the trees. People very friendly however.

I did not like!”
I needed more
Really, everything is on site at the hotel but found the quality was not good. Starting with the pool. They made a pool "natural" but there is no maintenance. Inside, besides fish (okay) find crabs, nails, construction debris, etc. Tile broken. In the sand also were many shards of glass. It was a nightmare because I had a moment of tranquility while my daughter played (tried) in the sand. In the bedroom, many cockroaches. The service was reasonable. On the website they say that there are buses to the city, but when you get there you discover that the bus schedule depends on the time they go shopping in the city, ie 7 am. And the time will also return according to the timing of purchases to the hotel. That is, if you do not hire a taxi gets you isolated .. which was our case. Anyway, I did not like!

Lovely spot”
Very relaxing
looking for a complete chill out with minimal activity and Likau'alofa was perfect. Read, slept, swam, ate. Tonga is not a normal tourist destination and we enjoyed it for that reason. Locals lived up to Friendly Isle tag.

Clean and tidy, friendly and helpful staff”
Rooms were lovely with a private outdoor table and chairs too. General environment was great, very expansive with plenty of sunny spots with views of the sea to park up with your book and a drink. Restaurant prices were very reasonable, and good quality. Buffet night was great entertainment and good value for money- don't miss it!
My adult daughter and I really enjoyed our 4 day stay at Liku'alofa. Although the Resort is beachfront, it's not a really great swimming beach although we did attempt some snorkelling but it is mostly white or bleached coral and very few fish. The sea water pool that fills and empties with the tide is popular with the local youths and children staying. The open-air restaurant is definitely unique and has a great menu but the service was slow, we waited at least 1.5 hours for our order every night we dined there. However, the buffet and show night was great, plenty of selection on the table and the floor show was very entertaining. We hired the bikes to go to the Blow-Holes; unless these have been replaced, do take a spanner (and seat padding!) with you as we had a 'breakdown'. The staff were all friendly and helpful, going out of their way to help/ rescue us in different ways when needed, which was really appreciated. The room was lovely and quite modern and nice bathroom with hot water which is not that common. Although there's a jug and tea/coffee provided and a fridge in the room there are no plates/cutlery/cook top to self cater so it pays to be prepared or eat at the restaurant. There's a little shop in the village (about 20 mins walk away) where you can get basic packaged/ tin food. The trip by bus to Nuku'alofa is about 50mins away for more shopping and is TOP2 per person. Hitch-hiking gets you there faster and for free and you get to chat to the lovely locals!
