Old world accomodation in the heart of Shanghai”
I stayed with my wife and 2 adult sons for one night only. The hotel offers unusual, original European-style accommodation with a beautiful garden. The staff were friendly and efficient and the quirkiness of our attic/loft room added to the charm. Oddly, despite two people per room, the included breakfast was for one person per room.
Interesting space, great location, personal touches”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Moller Villa! The price was on-point, the building is unique and I appreciated the warm, personal touches in my room. It was not as modern as the first hotel where I stayed in Shanghai but so much more welcoming. The breakfast was superb, a great way to start my days of sightseeing. I also appreciated the fresh fruit and cookies that were in my room, which I ate for dinner after a particularly difficult night out and came back to the hotel very hungry. I also loved the neighborhood -- I intended to spend a lot of time in the French Concession and I was happy that the hotel was centrally located. As for the service, language barriers aside the staff did their best to communicate with and help me as best they could.
Beautiful hotel setting with good location”
The hotel is a favourite for passerby to take photos due to its unique archiecture, if you are a guest who likes the old colonial style of buidling and deco, you will like this hotel. The room is clean and bright and comfortable. The location is good as there are many boutique shops nearby. Will definitely be back.
Like living in a oversized mansion”
The decor and intrinsic charm is certainly amongst the most interesting in Shanghai, but therein lies the irony: coming to China to stay in an decently antiquated, WESTERN-styled villa? (My excuse? Wife's idea!) Perhaps this is more ideally-suited for local Chinese travelers. Overall, five-star quality and a delightful breakfast.
Booking for my foreign fiends. It located in the center of city with easy public traffic and varouis food. The looking of hotel is very europe style. The breakfast is high quality and the staff is friendly
So peaceful. Most of the guests are individual traveler or for business purpose, not a big tour group. Hotel staff very polite, helpful (with good command of English). Good atmosphere and environment, surround with a nice shops and restaurants. Nearby the subway and convenient store (Family Mart).
One of a kind experience in a great location!”
it is one of a kind hotel. no like other in shanghai. great architect and landscape in a nice neighborhood. designer bathroom amenity as you can find at the sofitel and m gallary. nice walking distance to the metro (line 2) and design shops such as prada, gucci, marc jacobs and etc.
Nice splendid authentic hotel”
Within walking distance to most shopping attractions, and the bus stop in front offers buses to most other attractions too... clean spacious room... only setback is it's next to a school but does not affect u since most of the daytime not in room
Great location and nice rooms, exotic feel”
moller villa is just few streets away from the main shopping area and yet tuck in a interesting area of the city. good to explore the vicinity and u will get some good finds. the rooms are clean and bright, however, it's next to a school, so noise might get to those light sleepers.
If you look for a cosy, quiet, well organized Hotel within the inner City of Shanghai (all sites of interests in waking distance) this is it! Excellent service in all departments, high quality breakfast choice, a place to remember for ever.
This charming hotel is unexpected, an old villa situated among modern skyscrapers. It is an architectural gem, with intricate woodwork on walls, ceilings and floors, and two-story high stained glass windows in the reception area. Rooms are adequately spacious, clean and decorated in a style appropriate to the era. The restaurant is excellent, providing a tasty and varied breakfast (included with the room) and delicious dinner selections. The staff is friendly and competent, and I learned that they will go way beyond their duties: one rainy evening it was impossible to find a taxi, so Evan drove me to my destination when his shift ended at 8:00 pm -- and compensation was out of the question, as far as he was concerned. I have recommended this hotel to several acquaintances who will be visiting Shanghai, and expect to stay there again the next time I am in Shanghai. Such a refreshing departure from the huge ultra-modern Chinese hotels!
The Hotel has a great service at the location close to the center of the city”
When you stay in the hotel, you can feel the hotel manager trying to make it for high class customers. From the hotel logo to customized buffet breakfast, you can find the effort that the hotel manager's intention. The complement guest parking is a big plus to the hotel service. But, still some facilities need some improvement (I noticed some messy electrical work like flying wiring in the beautiful lobby and the room switch panels not even line up). Otherwise, I can give a higher rating to this hotel. One note to comment of the hotel garden, the garden outside the hotel is much bigger than the internal private one.
Europe & Asia”
Built by a Brit with an Oriental influence this hotel is quaint and amazing. Walking distance 1km) to the heart of XTD. Very quiet as it’s below the level of the expressway. Highly recommended if u are tired of the Westen chain hotels and don’t eat at the hotel you are staying at anyway (we didn’t try the food...just so many independent restaurants to eat at)
Not Business Friendly - A little run down”
I had to print something before my business meeting at 8am and they had no printers available or computer stations available before office hours. I literally had to go another HOTEL in the area to print important documents. The staff didn't offer any help. No one was at the front desk for 10 minutes when I arrived either. I had to wait to finally have a staff help me. The rooms were OK. Bed was good though. It was clean. Wood floor in my room was severely scratched. Felt like a 80s/90s hotel. INTERNET WIFI IS SLOWWWW. Got nothing done. TV didn't really work. I moved to a hotel in Pudong the next night.
Old style, old deco, tiny hotel, good location”
Like the deco style, and the staff are very friendly and helpful too. The breakfast is good, the garden is wonderful. However, parking is difficult, the inside of the room is too old, with some weird smell -that is annoying.
Great hotel lousy service !”
Great building tranquil surrounds lovely gardens cute cats rooms comfortable and roomy, staff totally unhelpful lack of English was a big problem. Breakfasts good, lots of variety Bar stocked nothing but beer!! Nothing in the gym worked and no attempt was made to recify this.
Very beautiful garden & building design”
Very good location, walking distance to city centre and everywhere. Creative design, involving Style, colors, constructions. Beautiful garden, good afternoon tea place.the staffs are helpful. Especially they use Aigner lotion. Smell so good. Breaky is self serving. Waitress are chatty. That's the only thing despoint. Will definitely coming next time. Never say no to this one.
Stay in the Fairlyland ”
We have a fantastic trip staying in this lovely hotel. One room was free upgraded from standard to deluxe. We stay here for 3 nights. So we know that the breakfast are the same everyday. The place is not far from Nanjing road or Huaihai road by taxi. We paid around 15 RMB and it was easy to get the cab in front of the hotel. There is one family mart near hotel so we can get everything easily if we need.
Historical, Charming and Unique.”
Great old location with lots of character. Rooms were nice but not overly great as in the beds were comfortable enough but still a bit stiff. Bathrooms were outdated and not cleaned to standards I would preferred. What this hotel does offer is a building that has so much history of old Shanghai and the "luxurious years" of the city before the changes of government and the expat community. the building has some beautiful wood work and great stained glass windows. Lots of charm and character. Loved the nooks in the main lobby for tea time.
Excellent stay in historic building at grelocation”
Hotel itself is in a funky historic building. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffet decent. Location-wise, 3 long block from main shopping street and subway. Only big down-side internet did not work well. Had to use hotel's computer in lobby at time.
