I enjoyed my stay at Newtown Space Pop Up. They keep the bathroom very clean, and I loved the high speed free wifi there. The only complaint I have is that I wish they had a kitchen.

The quilt and bed need improve”
The bed is too short, and the quilt is only a old thread blanket. I'm worry that there is a big, white, thick plate in my room. That's not normal.

      Long Stays??”
Look the place is a decent facility for a night or two max, it's cheap and clean 'enough' however they advertise long stays, I was staying for a couple weeks before making a permanent move down to Sydney and the lack of basic living essentials is a rather large issue, access to a microwave would ahve been appreciated and a fridge facilities were lacking, rather then a single bar fridge located on the other side of the property in reception, a small bar fridge and microwave in the common areas of the property would have Been appreciated and are inexpensive appliances that would have been appropriate. Most of the staff are lovely however my room key stopped working about 6 times over the 2 or so weeks I stayed at the 'hotel'. One or two night stays, this place is in a. Decent location however anything more, look elsewhere.

Late check = sleeping in the foyer”
I had a delayed flight and was travelling to see a work in the Sydney Festival so I didn't manage to check in until late evening. I called twice to confirm that my late arrival would not be a problem and was told that all I had to do was call when I got to the entrance. I called over 15 times and reached a 'mailbox full' message every time. I luckily got in due to another get arriving and letting me through the door, but could find no staff throughout the building. I eventually, exhausted, and needing an early start, collapsed in an armchair in a public space. At approx 5am I was woken to my phone ringing from reception. I then and only then managed to get my room key, and got a fitful hour or so of sleep before needing to leave for an appointment. Disastrous.

You get what you pay for”
      Location, surroundings, price
First of all it was difficult to find we had booked the ensuite room as we do not like sharing bathrooms. When we did get to the hotel there was not anywhere to park to off load the suitcases.no one to help with the suitcases. So we left the car on the road took the suitcases approx 100 yards to the front doors then we had to find the car park we were told it was 25 dollars to park for the night but the machine would only take 6 dollars and we had to leave the car park at 6am as you could not put any more money in and it was a private car park. No one to explain what to do reception had not got a clue. The room was clean the sheets were clean and the bed comfortable but only 1 thin pillow per person shower doors were broken and would only open a little way so if you were over 11 stone you stood no chance of getting in. Some very nice bath shower and washing cleansers. No tea coffee making facilities no cups glasses or fridge and no where to get any food or drink from. So if you only want a bed for the night it's okay but a hotel it is not

      Va;ue for money, great location”
Very quiet at night as it's in the grounds of Sydney University, good value for money, clean
Basic accommodation (student rooms, shared unisex bathroom, but if price, safety and location are your main considerations, highly recommended. Easy to reach by public transport (take a Newtown direction bus from Railway Square, and get off at the stop after the overpass and main entrance on City Road; it's Carillion Avenue, walk along and the entrance is on the right). Very convenient to all the great cafes and eateries of King Street Newtown, funky shops.

      Basic Sydney Short-Term Accommodation”
Great Heritage Building, Safe and Secure, Fun Guests of all ages.
The two day stay was basically satisfactory. The level of accommodation is very basic .. no internet, no tv, no kitchen, no lounge, no common rooms. All of these shortcomings could be overcome with some managerial input, but the cost is already excessive and no further increases should be considered. The location of the hotel is in the grounds of University of Sydney. The buildings and surrounds are beautiful but they need to provide access to parking which is promised but not provided. Overall a satisfactory but basic and over-priced accommodation experience.

Don't stay on the top floor in summer!”
      Cheap, good location and exterior.
Had an interesting stay! There are no kitchen facilities and no real parking at this hotel. There are spaces but you can only pay for a ticket until 6am the following day. As previous reviewers have said, there is no air con at this hotel and the windows don't have fly nets. It was unbearably hot in the room and I look like I have measles from all the mozzie bites. My partner had to sleep in the car, as he couldn't stick it anymore. The bed is a small double and the room is no more than 2 metres square with a desk, wardrobe, shelves and fan. The bathrooms were okay. Cleanliness varied depending on the cleaner and guests during our stay. One night it just stank of urine, but was super clean once the cleaner had been the next day. There were 4 showers, 3 sinks and 3 toilets for about 6 rooms, so it was never crowded. Major renovations are happening at the moment, so you do have to walk through a building site to get to the rooms. Even considering all that, if you come prepared, this hotel is fine, which was the cheapest I could find in inner Sydney.

stay at a uni and feel 18 again”
      quite location, grounds and parks
For the price and being in a central location in Newtown /Sydney you really cant complain (well you can but I won't for thte purpose of this review). Its a beautiful old building surrounded by the parks and trees in Sydney uni. King st Newtown is a 5min walk away. For about $50 aud you get your own room with a bed, desk, cupboard etc . At this price dont expect too much or go stay in a dorm room of 8 for a similar price. The wifi is an additional $5 but was super quick. Parking is available but expensive on the grounds. You can park your car free in resedential areas but be preperared to walk a good 5 minutes. The rooms are basic (student type accommodation) with shared bathrooms. Plenty of hot water...It was fine for the 5 nights i stayed. I did have to kill a few mosquitos as its summer but once thats done your ok for a nights sleep. Ralphs cafe is next door and they serve great food and coffee. The grounds are lovely to jog around.

Beautiful old building in lovely grounds ”
the great hall, walking distance to city buses & Newtown
Felt like Hogwarts as you walk around the halls and walkways. While I loved the building please be mindful that you will be staying at student accommodation, vacated during the term holidays, hence the 2-star hotel rating. It did the job for me for a night as this is a unique building in Sydney (one of its oldest buildings) and looks well preserved. Didn't have time for breakfast but seeing it served at the Great Hall, I would recommend it for those who have the time.
