Good location ”
Lovely staff great location very helpful owner
Amazing owners, great location, beautiful boutique hotel! ”
My boyfriend and I had just come from Australia. Unfortunately my bags where lost by the airport however upon arriving to Pink Elephant, the young guy who works behind the bar spent a long time on the phone sorting out the delivery of my bags. The atmosphere of this place was exceptional! My boyfriend had very low expectations however we where both blown away at service which was more like they were your mate rather than serving on you which we found so much better. There are big trees and lots of plants decorating the front, a long staircase leading up to the 4 rooms. 2 with air con and 2 without. We stayed without aircon in the first room on the right and we fount it very homestay feeling. One of the biggest pros to this hotel is the food! The whole restaurant and bar comes to life at night and is always fully booked out! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience great, chill vibes (without it being a backpackers), cheap accomodation and amazing food!
Great place! Loved it. Really comfy bed, chic decor and close to everything. Owner is good fun as well. Loved it.
Chill space to relax”
Loved the location, people and place, would definitely stay again. The owners are wonderful.
BIG UPS! ”
We got nothing but good things to say about this place. Great location, fair rates, GREAT food and a lovely straff! Great atmosphere, big ups!
Good and simple accomodation above The Pink Elephant restaurant with balcony. Very kind and easy-going owner
Good place ”
Good location, everything is right on your doorstep, shops, bars and restaurants etc. And the beach is about a 30 second walk! I had a deluxe double room with a/c and nice big balcony, really nice, but for the price no hot water. A minor down side. I had dinner in the very popular restaurant downstairs and the food was delicious! Enjoyed the stay!
Good location & Good for Backpackers that want basics”
The location was great. If you're a backpacker looking for the basics then it's not a bad place. We didn't stay at any other 'hostels' in Sri Lanka - only guest houses. Comparatively we weren't super impressed but it did have some great highlights. Pros: location, balcony that had glimpses of the ocean and was super spacious, room was large Cons: no hot water (really wish we had known this one... for us coming home after being out all day to a cold shower was a super bummer), wifi connection (not really available in rooms and was off and on, slow and sometimes just turned off altogether), loud music (this didn't bother us but you could hear the disco across the street pumping base every night until at least 12:30am) Staff was so-so... they were nice but compared to other places we stayed weren't the most helpful. Generally I think for the price there are enough other options in the area that may have better facilities and service.
Great place ”
Pros- excellent location over He road from gorgeous beach, nice big room with balcony, great price, ac and fan was brilliant, beach view, restaurant underneath serves lovely food and really good prices, nice to have a drink there, staff were great and the owner too. I would stay here again. Only cons I could say was WiFi not great but everywhere has WiFi if you really need it. Also arranged for our taxi to our next place,
Fantastic place to stay, great location”
The place has a very rustic feel, but the room was very comfortable with a nice view from the balcony. The staff were excellent and took care of anything that was needed with an incredibly relaxed attitude. The food was great at their restaurant and the drinks were very reasonably priced. The location is superb - right in the middle of the stretch of beach. If you are going to stay in Unawatuna, highly recommend the Pink Elephant.
Great location, nice rooms”
It was located right next to the beach. The room was clean and spacious. We had a room with ac and a sea view. The staff was great!
Amazing place to stay, relaxed atmosphere and cool host. 20m to the beach”
Best hostel I've been staying at while traveling Sri Lanka. Highly recommended !
Double booked on our first night”
We were double booked on our first night and even though we booked first we were made to find another place to stay. The owner refunded our first night and shouted us dinner on our second night to make up for the double booking, as we were staying on New Year's Day for our first night we lost out on a lot of the hotels vibe as there wasn't many people around on the second night. Good place with tastey food but not sure if it would be worth another visit due to the hassle caused from the double booking.
Really nice and cozy homestay.”
A really nice place with good and helpful staff and AMAZING food!
Not so good”
The bathroom was dirty, no hot watershower, no internet in the inner room. The price is a little high refer to the condition. I bought the most expensive water in this hostel (150Rs), normally, only 70Rs for 1.5L.
Fun hostel with Nice staff. Close to the beach. But water didnt work from 8 hr in the morning till 21 hr in the evening
perfect for low budget”
Loud and dirty”
The place is close to the beach and not that expensive, but this is all about this place on a positive side. The music will play until 2 am, so get ready for this. There is no water at the morning until 3 pm. The room itself is pretty basic and require some cleaning and renovation.
Before we even got there, I received a very rude email in response to asking how to get to pink elephant from the bus stop. 'Just get a tuk tuk. I'm busy'. When we asked for towels and some soap. He then proceeded to tell us how he'd had a big night with 'all the drink, smoke'. Room was full of ants and there is no hot water. They then then turn all water off 9-3pm and blame it on the government which is utter rubbish. Nowhere else does this. No mosquito net and the room isn't sealed so we got eaten alive. Shame. This place could be good but the owner is an idiot and does not look after his guess. Not worth the rudeness or hassle.
Great location right in the middle of una watuna”
