      Like Fawlty Towers”

Okies, the staff didn't know where our rooms were. The aircon did not work. Mixer taps were a nightmare. Breakfast was a bit like a disaster zone. The location however is fabulous for one night in Kandy!

Beautiful Colonial Property in the Heart of Kandy”

Had a wonderful stay here, although we moved to the West Wing after 1 night due to the noise on the streets, and felt like we're in some old castle with winding stairways and old cracked mirrors which definitely lends this place a certain charm. The property is old and needs renovation, however, the rooms were big and spacious, good shower, aircon. Pool was well maintained with almost no one else around, offering a pleasant sanctuary surrounded by trees. Close to the main kandy attractions, however the only downside was very expensive travel quotes for cabs to places outside of Kandy - Sigiriya, Pollonaruwa and Dimbullah Temple, so would recommend asking somewhere else (we managed to find a driver who quoted us 1/3rd the price). Would recommend for its old world charm, big rooms, close to key attractions and the pool!

      Comfortable & Super Central Location”

      Location, Comfort and Service

We had a really great stay - our second time back here. The hotel is really comfortable, clean with friendly staff and we absolutely loved its convenient location. We had a room overlooking the Temple of the Tooth and experienced great views of the monthly Poya celebrations, as well as quiet times by Kandy Lake. Breakfast buffet was also delicious. I would recommend staying here.

      Strongly recommended ”

      Location, building facade and service

The hotel is at a great location being at a main junction. It is near the Temple of the Tooth Relic and faces the lake. We love the colonial feel of the building as well. It has a 160 years of history so the room might not be all new and shiny and that's part of the experience. Service by the staff was great. They allowed us to do an early check in. It was a pity we stayed one night only as we had to go to other places in Sri Lanka. Strongly recommeded and value for money.

      An Elegant Bit of History”

Established in 1844, a glorious colonial leftover.

queens hotel was a great experience. the rooms are very simple, like a three star motel, but once you get past that, this classic piece of colonial history should not be missed. when you enter the bar to have a drink, you have clearly stepped back in time. it is not a remake of the past, it is the past! the old dining room with ceiling fans, and excellent food, is also a classic. with mahogany floors throughout, and miles of red carpets down the hallways, this is an old gem. it is also right across the street from the temple of the buddha's tooth, and right on kandy lake.

Right in the centre of everything in Kandy. Can walk everywhere very easily. Nice restaurant, good breakfast, nice pool for relaxing in the afternoon. Overall I would recommend it. We stayed 31 years ago and it hasn't changed too much. We still like it.

Next to Tooth Relic Temple & the lake. Easy access to tourist spots within Kandy

Room was fairly large but wish the view was better. Insist on Lake view if you are staying here for a long period. Service is very good and staff was very helpful. Breakfast was awesome..omelets, sausages, fruits, bread, sri lankan breakfast (w/ milk rice dal etc)coffe, tea, juice (FRESH JUICE too) Overall a very very pleasant experience.

Very old but everything is functionable

The hotel is very closed to the Tooth Temple and center of city, just 3 min. walk to the temple and least than 5 min. to the center. There are many restuarants nearby the hotel. But the hotel is quite old and rug is quite smelly.

Lovely old hotel. Big airy rooms. Nice pool. Comfy chairs in lobby and bar area. Recommend the tiny jewellery shop. Very friendly staff. Lots of food for breakfast but if you don’t fancy local fare, continental option with fresh fruit is available. Central. Recommend. Would stay again. Full of character.

Faded grandeur - from a different era ”

The hotel is past its best but hiding behind some recent polish and perhaps some refurbishment of some rooms . We had 2 basic doubles on the first floor. They were comfortable with good beds The shower was small and the hot water took an age to come but all perfectly adequate Its biggest plus is the location and its heritage and the lift - worth it for that but not fabulous The worst thing is the food - breakfast buffet was not great , coffee dreadful .

      Needs a refurb pronto”

Stayed here 2 nights On arrival the hotel lobby looks great but a closer look and you will notice that the building needs a lot of work. The staff were ok and service was very average. But the cleaning staff were good. The hotel was old and smelt even older. The rooms smelt of sewerage because the drains haven’t been used often. The furniture in the rooms were basic and old, probably beautiful back in the day but falling apart now. This place is as creepy as the hotel in the Shining. The location was excellent and the architecture of the building is beautiful but wish the company had the money to refurbish it to its former glory. There is so much potential. Would not stay here again. Definitely not worth the money.
