To be fair it was raining much of the time we were on Railay but there were drawbacks about which future travelers should be aware, most notably that the food is very expensive and not very good. Avoid the restaurants and buy from the local shops. This is still expensive but the restaurant food is no better and at least twice the price. Railay itself has probably seen better days and there are more inspiring places to visit, even if it's just beach life you want. The longtail boat from Ao Nang is 100 THB per person; try to travel in the morning when the tide is high otherwise you'll be wading through the waves, particularly in the summer months when it is stormy.; this process is repeated at the other end. Be aware that the hotel can find it difficult to meet you from your longtail so you may need to lug your bags up the beach. There is a more expensive arrival option that brings you into a pier on the east beach although this is three times more expensive.
Loved the location and the bungalow was so lovely and traditional.. needs an upgrade but didn’t bother me as it had character. My son believes that money was taken from his wallet when he left it on the couch when we were out and the room was cleaned. It was 1000 bhat. He knew exactly how much money he had as he is 15 years old and saved up for the holiday. I didn’t bring this to the attention of staff because it can’t be proved. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but found that because of the low season, it was difficult to find service , especially when relaxing by the pool. It would have been nice to have some service for drinks and food.
Nice Hotel, good value for money, bath was a bit dirty”
Advenetage: On sure line Far from port, Central location near to all restaurants and activities Big room Disadvenetage: Uncomfortable bed Toilet and bath and jacuzzi real bit dirty Concierge was laughing at us in front of other guest, Front desk perfect team Unpleasant concierge.
great location views are awesome”
pros. walking street right next door, lots of stores, bars restaurants, easy access to speed boats on beach or dock 5 mins across island. you can walk anywhere to see sites. caves amazing views of rock cliffs, beach. rooms are big, nice shower bathroom, beds are firm..no soft beds here but slept good .deluxe pool room gives you a great swimming..relaxing area with lounger right outside your room.path to beach is jungle lush plant surroundings.staff is great, they all want to learn.more english so surprisingly they want you to speak more English than hearing you try to speak thai. cons: nothing really, breakfast is so so, but has enough to fill you up, omelets, pancakes, thai dishes, fruit and coffee cappuccino, ate at walking street every night, skunk bar had good food with a second story view, mangrove was the go to place, baked fish tuna snapper 350 baht was great, shrimp chick kabobs for 100 baht with salad. all good prices. india place across st great too #68 and flat bread try
Thank you Railay Village Resort for such a wonderful trip ”
We spent over 5 nights in Railay Village Resort and we had such an epic and wonderful experience that we will never forget. We went for our special occasion and we were very well looked after by Siriwan, Kantima, Fatima and the team. Please select the cottage with the Jacuzzi if you want to experience the luxury of staying in a cottage style villa and perhaps just do nothing after the nightfall. We highly recommend staying in this resort to get the best out of Railay Beach. The resort is next to the beach and a shopping and restaurant alley. If I had to redo my vacation I would choose no where but this resort. The team in the resort is super friendly and accommodating. I never met Siriwan face to face but I really wanted to thank her before I left as she was so prompt with her email responses and gave us a nice surprise with room decoration for our occasion. The team looked after us getting us the Kayaks and getting us to the boat on our last day. I am glad I chose the Krabi to Railay
Possibly the best hotel for us in Railay.”
This was the best hotel for us and I'm glad we found it. The staff at reception were friendly and very helpful. We check in but couldn't get our room as we were early but that was no problem. They offered us some beach towels and showed us to a lovely pool which was exactly what we need in the April heat of Railay. The room was large and clean and very comfortable. The beds are firm but on the second night I actually found I slept better then I had in most hotels. The only complaint I have is that the breakfast wasn't up to the standard of hotels in other parts of Thailand. But from what I have read online from visitors to Railay's other hotels this seems a common problem in the bay.
Excellent experience in Railay”
We absolutely loved this hotel. It's in Railay West, which is arguably the best beach in Railay. Some would say Princess beach is better (Ao Phra Nang) , but it's also smaller, is further away from restaurants and only has one very high priced resort to stay at (Rayavadee), so my vote goes for Railay West. So, the location of this hotel is excellent, with the lobby and restaurant looking out onto the beachfront, framed by gorgeous cliffs. The rooms are tucked away into the interior of the resort in a beautifully manicured tropical garden. We stayed at the jacuzzi villa, which was very comfortable and well-designed. One drawback is that there are quite a lot of mosquitoes at night in the property, but this can be said of Railay generally; make sure you don't leave the door to outside open and close the bathroom door and you should be fine. the staff are delightful and friendly and made us feel at home. They even upgraded us from poolview to jacuzzi suite at no extra cost - truly wow!
Very nice hotel. I was in a jacuzzi villa, which was VERY spacious. The staff was very nice, and helpful. The location is right next to the beach and right next to the start of Railay walking street. The only thing I will point out has nothing to do with the hotel itself. Railay Beach is beautiful, but since you can only get there by boat, you're limited in the choices of things to do spur of the moment. There are plenty of things there to keep you busy for a day or two, but after that, you could go a little stir crazy. UNLESS what you're looking for is someplace you can just relax and forget about the rest of the world. Then that could work well. Also, it's a mecca for rock climbers, a category I don't fit into, but you might.
Best location on tight isolated beach”
There is only one, narrow walk way path on this Rai Lay resort area. So small that resort workers do not live on this area but boat over from main Krabi area daily. The only place to stay would be the WEST side of Rai Lay because the East side is facing the main dock/pier & has lots of mangroves = no real beach to lay on. This resort is about $200+ per night, large spacious room, large sofa recliner that is good enough for 6 foot male, king bed, large bath with jacuzzi, stand up shower, get a room on 2nd floor for more privacy. The nicer single house rooms are likely better and closer to beach but it's farther from the 2 pools. Those single houses are also very dense in vegetation so there's more webs, animals, we saw a few monitor lizards (2ft long) , tree squirrels, birds. Beautiful but we really loved our private 2nd floor to leave our shoes outside and dry our clothes on the patio table & chairs. This resort has the best location and excellent updated rooms.
The suite we booked was very nice with a private walk and the neighbors were not too close. Rooms are non-smoking, but they provide ash trays at the outside covered table. Overall everything was awesome, but there are a couple of things that could be improved. You only get one key and the AC takes about 2 hours to get the room cool. Either leave the key in the room unlocked or just deal with the heat when you get back. The main shower did not have hot water; the sink and the jacuzzi tub had great hot water, just not the main shower. While it was a rain maker style shower head, it appeared to be old (rusted? corroded?) it did not work very well and kind of dribbled out. More than enough to wash ones body, but for the price, I expected a bit more here. Again, overall it was a great room with awesome staff members who went out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable. The 2 swimming pools are close to all the rooms and the sea is just a couple meters away.
What a beautiful place to stay, wonderful pool and gardens, amazing rooms and staff. 5 years ago whilst visiting Railay backpacking we saw this resort and vowed to return one day! We are so glad we did!
Great location on West Railay. Nice rooms, beautiful grounds, 2 nice pools. Tasty breakfast with good coffee. Staff friendly. WiFi didn’t work most of time in our room which was at the end of property. Would definitely stay there again.
Great hotel and staff”
Excellent place to stay, right in front of the beach. The hotel has a great pool area and watching the sunset was so great to appreciate. The staff was also super great and very kind. The only bad part is that there were so many mosquitos in the room. I got bitten several times. The staff brought more mosquito repellent for us but everyday there were mosquitos to but us.
We stayed at the deluxe rooms (next to the pool). Room is big. Bathroom is huge. Pool is nice. Lighting can be better (somewhat dim at night). It’s not super modern but everything was clean and of good quality. The best part was eating breakfast right on the beach. However, the breakfast food can be vastly improved - many hotels on Railay half the price of this one had better breakfast. Location is amazing - it is right next to west side of Walking Street, and you can access east side of walking street through a back gate.
Beachfront property with no beachfront rooms”
If you stay here you need a bungalow. The deluxe pool front king is way too far from the ocean. The pictures online are taken with a special lens and are misleading. The bungalows are lovely with sunken jacuzzi and private wood deck. They are for a romantic getaway, otherwise save a little money and stay elsewhere. I upgraded my room to a bungalow and then was very happy but this was way more than what I needed as a solo traveler. The breakfast buffet is phenomenal and the ocean front tables can’t be beat. There is a fabulous on site coffee counter as well! Loved that. The staff were lovely but the boy that took me to my room did little to explain how the lights and AC worked and I had quite a bit of trouble initially.
Value for Money, Great Location ”
This hotel is at Railay west beach and perfect location for a beach lover. Staffs are very friendly and they gave us a room, 4hrs before standard check in time. This is accessible only by boat and recommend to take their airport pick up service, if you are going there for the first time (although rate is bit higher than normal). Buffet breakfast is normal (nothing much options). We were in jacuzzi villa and it was pretty big. Recommend to always use deposit box to keep your valuable stuff as we lost $100 from my wife’s handbag, when we came back from phi-phi island tour. Lot of restaurants and happenings are there at Railay west and east beaches from afternoon until midnight. If you are going out by boat, please always check wheather forecast as it is changing very fast, and rain with heavy winds create storms easily (if it says rain, better stay at hotel and explore Railay).
A great resort and wonderful staff! My only issue is with the very hard mattresses. Wow! Coming from the US, that is something I am not accustomed to. And those long boats, wish they could congregate at the ends of the beach instead of the middle. Some new lounge chairs would be lovely. Overall, we have a fabulous time and can’t say enough good things about the staff, very accommodating.
A great spot in Railay”
Located on the beach at Railay West (much better choice than R East) it is a good place to stay. Villas are large and well maintained, with one exception - shower head was rusty and all over the place... Beds are very hard, hardest I ever experienced. Breakfast plentiful and offers many choices. Price of Alcoholic drinks and dinner is 20% than the numerous places around it. Staff is trying to be as helpful as they can.
Great location and villa”
The staff were not very helpful when departing the resort, we almost missed our boat because they did not direct us correctly. Besides that, the resort was excellent.
Wonderful experience ”
Although weather was mostly bad, I had a wonderful experience at Railway Village, due to the very comfortable jacuzzi villa and wonderful staff . I would definitely come again and would recommend it to my all friends
