Good hotel with good staff”
I had a very good time in Rama Hotel. The room is good size. The staffs speak good English and very helpful. Pilgrim Cafe serve good breakfast and lunch. The location is good, only 10 minutes to night market and all other attractions. I will go back and stay in Rama hotel.
Awesome Location but ok rooms”
i loved the location, as it's near many travel agencies, temples that you can walk to (and the famous one on top of the hill - i forgot the name but it's super popular and the staff can tell you!) along with tons of restaurants too. i arrived late around 1 am and the entire hotel was closed but i knocked on the door and the concierge opened it for me right away and was so nice. he showed me my room right away and that was a huge relief - i was scared i'd have to find another place for the night. the room smelled musty and was very very old, which i was not a fan of. the bedsheets also felt very cold/damp and i was a little cold when i was sleeping. i don't know if i'd stay here again because it just felt old, but location and staff were great. i didn't eat at the restaurant here, but it's supposed to be good.

i already wrote a review, but here it is again - i had to do double booking because i only booked it for 1 night the first time around and had to add on another night: i loved the location, as it's near many travel agencies, temples that you can walk to (and the famous one on top of the hill - i forgot the name but it's super popular and the staff can tell you!) along with tons of restaurants too. i arrived late around 1 am and the entire hotel was closed but i knocked on the door and the concierge opened it for me right away and was so nice. he showed me my room right away and that was a huge relief - i was scared i'd have to find another place for the night. the room smelled musty and was very very old, which i was not a fan of. the bedsheets also felt very cold/damp and i was a little cold when i was sleeping. i don't know if i'd stay here again because it just felt old, but location and staff were great. i didn't eat at the restaurant here, but it's supposed to be good.
Centrally located and service with a smile”
I just had one night in Luang Prabang and so i didn't have time to explore things myself. The hotel had all the basic information i needed. The staffs we very helpful. The rooms were worth the money i paid. I had a good sleep. The Wifi worked very well.
Quite, clean lovely hotel with friendly staff”
We loved our stay at the Rama hotel it was a littl ebit more pricey than the guesthouses in town but having said that the hotel was still very cheap. The room was very clean and tidy and cute. The TV was very small tho you don't spend too much time in your room if relaxing and watching a movie we just pulled to the TV closer to the bed. The staff gave all kinds of helpful hints about the town ans were always willing to help by calling up restauants and bus companys for us. The only little thing that let it down slightly was that the bed was very hard but thinking about how some of the poeple in laos live i couldn't complain abvout that. A massive thanks to the Rama hotel.
Great & Comfortable stay...”
i wasn't sure of the hotel condition so booked for only one night cos i didn't want to make the same mistake of booking a room for 3-4 nights to find out the hard rock bed. i arrived late at the hotel and i was surprise to see their sweet welcoming greetings and all the necessary information for the city. i checked in the room and found out that the bed was very big, soft and comfortable so i booked the room for 3 more nights. the rooms is clean and spacious enough though the bathroom is a little small but serve the purpose well. the staffs are always on their toe wanting to help, always concerned and asking me if everything is alright or if i need anything. they staffs are very informative and gave many ideas on what to do in and around the city. they helped me get some lifetime experience trek and tour. the free wi-fi was a bonus for me as i have to work online time to time away from home and work, so it serve my purpose very well. the breakfast is really nice, i like the salad the most. i like the food and drinks in their cafe, i think it's "pilgrim's cafe" i enjoyed the mexican and indian food and the mocktail drinks. worth it! the location is a plus point not so near from the main busy night market yet not too far to the night market making a perfect place to sleep away from the noisy musics. it is just a small city so everywhere is walkable. overall i enjoyed my stay at rama. thank you rama staffs for your help and care, i will definitely be back there soon and stay with you all again.
good location and friendly staff”
it wasn't hard to explain this hotel to taxi driver from airport because all drivers knew that. what i like the most was the location because it was very easy and near to go to downtown and night market from the hotel. i did not have enough info but it didn't matter because of the smiling staff! they always have smile and are very helpful. it was quite impressing.
most friendly staff, clean rooms with good size”
...and only o,50$/min. for calling abroad. Helpful staff. Superior room was quite spacious, with safe (enough space for netbook and various camera lenses). Bathroom like every hotel of our vacation did not have a seperated shower. Good water pressure and stable temperature. Bathroom door had many louvers, so no noise protection at all. Quick laundry service. Small and ok breakfast buffet. Within 5 walking minutes 2 or 3 stores that offered 1 hour photo printing! Very nice because we always use our own photos as postcards.
Good hotel but Great staff”
this hotel is not set in the heart of the city but its only a few blocks off the heartbeat. i enjoyed the walk to the main areas daily. breakfast, which is included, was modest and my advice is to get up early when no one else is up yet and eat first so there's no waiting for food as it sometimes runs out and takes a bit of time to replenish. i was upgraded to a superior room and i found the room clean and a fair size. the restaurant has a nice array of western and asian foods but no alcohol. its very close to two nice wats and several shopping areas.
at first i booked the hotel just for a night but since i liked everything about the hotel i stayed on for 3 more nights. they have very helpful staffs who were willing to give all the informations that i needed. i liked the location.
New owner making changes”
The new owner of the hotel was very keen to make sure that I was happy with their service. Because I could not have a Superior room, the management arranged for me to have a complimentary massage which was very enjoyable. The location, a little out of the main Night Market area, is not a problem as it most probably made it a quieter area but still easy to walk into the hub of the town. Very pleasant, helpful staff.
A great stay!”
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel due, mainly, to the cheerfulness and hospitality of the staff. Breakfast was plentiful but-in my case as a vegetarian-quite limited in range. The room was a good size, clean and well presented but views are quite limited. Although not in the heart of the town it was only a 10 minute walk to the night market and some of the sites are nearer such as Wat Wisunarat, virtually next door! On the down side, although the bathroom was adequate, hot water was quite limited while the range of gurgling noises coming at regular intervals from the plug hole is worth enduring simply for the comedy value!
Although the Rama Hotel is not on the center street of the city, it is a convenient 5 minute walk to the center. The Rama is a larger, older and well established hotel that is clean and quiet. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and the floors are wood, which really cut down the possibility of allergies. The clerks try hard to please even though their English is limited. Breakfast is included in the room price and it is a very nice buffet.
This was a great hotel value for money and well positioned to enjoy the sights of this heritage listed city. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast adequate. The staff spoke good English and were most helpful. I was accompanied by my daughter on this trip and intend to return within the next 2 years with my wife and will stay there again.
great place to stay”
A delightful 4 story hotel with roomy bedrooms and a clean bath. It is about 10 minute walk away from the hubble and bubble of night market but close enough to walk anywhere in town. Walk to the left when leaving the hotel and take the road leading to a neat little area of good restaurants and shops in a quiet neighborhood. As you walk down the street, the Wat Phisou looms high overhead sparkling above the forest. A great sight and another path that leads down to the river area. All in all a good value and a comfortable hotel.
Staff need training on customer service Hotel shall establish partnership agreement with tour agencies Amenities like restaurants shall be maximized Hotel promotions shall be improved, not just Agoda
Nice for one night”
We booked one night at the Rama Hotel, but due to it being out of the main area we stayed elsewhere the rest of our trip. It was also quite expensive compared with the other accommodation we found of a similar standard. The staff were brilliant, very friendly. They upgraded our room which was nice :) Very comfortable and clean room.
Over priced even after discount”
Backpacker standard. Ie: clean but falling apart - in our room: broken shower head, tap was about to fall off, noisy aircon. All fine if the price is cheap but what the pictures on the website show and what it actually is like, there is a big difference. The Management there, assure me they are into the season of maintenance so hopefully alot of these issues will be resolved. Friendly staff.
A typical Lao hotel (trying, but not too hard)”
We stayed at Rama Hotel for two nights during the Lao New year celebrations, so I won’t be judging the hotel under the best light: Lao new year means reduced staff and incredibly loud sound systems everywhere outside (as in so loud that no corner of the hotel was quiet, but that would have been true of ANY hotel in downtown Luang Prabang during those two days). The room was clean and reasonably furnished, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the shower room was ok. We had the smallest TV set I’d ever seen, maybe about 13 inches. But all the cable channels worked fine. We changed rooms for the second night because the aircon didn’t work properly in the first one, which was no problem at all and the staff were all around quite helpful. The café/restaurant offers a small but interesting selection of food, including Tex-Mex and Indian. I went for some Nepalese “momos” which are traditional dumplings in Nepal and a favourite of mine. I expected to be disappointed but wasn’t – they were the real deal. Overall, not the best hotel in the world, but a good solid choice for a reasonable price.
