Filthiest hovel I have ever set eyes on and had the misfortune of having to stay there. Too late to book elsewhere. Reception staff horrible. Shall be contacting the Health Department, Agoda Bookings and facebook shaming this terrible establishment. This place should be condemned and if I have my way it will be happening sooner rather than later. God knows what diseases you could contract there.
A cheap conveniently located place”
i was happy that i got this last minute for nye, especially at that price. the rooms are pretty small for 3people but we managed. the shower was aweful though, you have to constantly tweek it. our fan also didnt work, but there was a stand up fan instead. not the nicest place i've stayed. but i was a happy customer.
Great service apartment”
Our family was fortunate to stay in this place because the price is cheap and the location is quite strategic. The most impressive was the friendliness of its staff and very helpful. Our advice is just about the water in the bathroom shower is not very heavy so that makes us less pleasant bath.
Shouldn't be allowed to trade”
By far and away the worst accommodation I have booked for my staff . Will do everything I can to make sure people know how disgraceful this place is. Ticks, cockroach's , blood stained sheets and graffiti. Couldn't stay more than one night.
Dirty hot and uncomfortable ”
The room was dirty, the fridge mouldy and only just turned on. Bed uncomfortable, we ask our friend to bring pillow slips with her as we didn't want to use what was there. Toilet was disgusting. Office staff came to our room at 930am asking for the keys to be returned prior to checking out. Lock on the door was very dodgy, wouldn't trust leaving anything of value in the room if you were going out. We booked because it was cheap, should have paid extra to stay elsewhere
NEVER STAY HERE! EVER”
This was the most disgusting place I've ever stayed in. It was dirty, there was graffiti on the walls and the doors didn't close properly; the shower, bathroom and main door. We took all our valuables with us in the day, as we were worried that someone would break in and steal our stuff. There were unsightly residents milling around and the hotel was full of people smoking. There was dried food and splotches on the blinds, a dirty cotton bud sticking up in the bathroom window ledge, the floor was covered in debris, there was one mug that was dirty and wet and there were questionable stains on one of the doona covers. There was a heater that could not be turned off or down, meaning we had to sleep with the noisy overhead fan on and the windows open, which did not have fly screens. The owner was rude, and reception was always closed, making complaining impossible. The room stank of smoke and damp when we entered. Gordon Ramsay needs to investigate this place!
Never again. ”
Cockroaches everywhere in the room, toilet and bathroom not clean, tv not working, walking to the car park at night was a bit scary too. I should’ve paid extra $9 and stayed and st.kilda opposite the beach. Would not recommend this place for that price.
Wouldn't leave my dog here.”
The photos are nowhere near reality. You can tell from the outside that this is a dump. Entry not very appealing, the walk up to reception on the first floor made me wonder what I was in for. Given the key to my room on the top floor and with no lift you have to carry your luggage up the stairs. Not sure when the last time the place was vacuumed. Entered the room and three flies were circling over the bed. Window open wide with no fly screen. Very musky smell within the room. Furniture run down with bedside tables missing drawers and graffiti all over. Sliding mirror of wardrobe very hard to open and wouldn't hang anything in there as it looked dirty. Entered the bathroom and the toilet was an absolute disgrace. Shower not clean and very small. The bed was run down and the base needed a paint job while the bedspread had a cigarette burn in it. Overhead fan had bent blades and didn't even try to turn it on in case it self destructed over the bed. To be continued....
For the price it was good
DO NOT STAY HERE, it stunk of human poo!! It's really run down and dirty with stained sheets. There was also a pouch in the room full of needles.
Heard of flea-bitten? Well, I didn't see any fleas there, but cockroaches were everywhere. The place is a dive. The kitchen facilities were ancient. The fridge wasn't clean. The shower wasn't clean. The toilet was hidden behind a door, which made accessing things a challenge. The light didn't work in the bathroom. There was no airconditioning. The fan worked - thank god for something - but it was still 27 degrees in the room. Opening the cupboard revealed grotesque piles of laundry.
Dirtiest place I have ever been in. ”
Never again will I book this place, We could not stay there and were not able to get our money back through Paypal, even with all the photos and videos we had as evidence. I just wanted a safe place to sleep and leave my bags while out. This was not it. No stars. Just don't do it.
good location but shame about the state of cleanliness”
The location and the hotel rate rate is good . Cleanliness was abysmal. There was no service as the reception was shut 90% of the time. No floor towels provided so when you come out of the shower you could slip. No A/C in the rooms (only a ceiling fan) so hot summer nights are uncomfortable. The car park entry input pad did not work most of the time and sometimes needed 5 to 6 tries to make it work. Car park lighting is poor at the far end , and when returning late at night did not feel safe. There appear to be a lot of drug addicted people living in these apartments. There were loud arguments heard from inside some of these rooms. The showers were basic with poor control over the temperature for any length of time. This hotel/apartment block has a lot of potential , but unfortunately the management appears not interested. Wonderful location.
Do not stay at Redan Apartment St Kilda East, Melbourne, Australia”
Whilst Redan apartment was economically priced I would not recommend it as suitable travellers accommodation whilst visiting Melbourne for the following reasons: 1. The fire door on my corridor was constantly kept open with a brick and people were using it as a smoking area and communal door to enter and leave the building.. It felt very unsafe both personally and a fire safety hazard. 2. It was a hostel for immigrants and temporary social accommodation. One resident on my floor had mental health issues. He was kicking doors and screaming during one of the nights. 3. The general condition of the rooms and communal hallways were in very poor condition. Dirty and filthy carpets. 4. The furnishing in the rooms were old and dated second hand furniture. 5. The staff were rude and unfriendly. However it became clear staff on duty did not speak or understand English very well. 6. The location of the apartment block was fairly close to the train station and tram line.
Really just a slum”
This was the dirtiest and most under-equipped place I have ever stayed in. I think the onus must rest with the owner (surely they must know how dreadful it is?). The staff are untrained for their roles and lack initiative. I shall be contacting both Health and Tourism bodies in Melbourne with photographs. The 'apartments' offer kitchen facilities, but lack - sufficient crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, plug for any sinks in the apartment, so why they supply washing-up liquid is a mystery. There are no bedside lights, clothes hangers, proper wardrobe doors or chests of drawers, room service (we were there for four nights), sufficient number of decent pillows, extra bedding, hairdryer, ironing facilities - I could go on. Nothing above the absolute minimum required was there. Furniture and fittings were either broken or badly maintained - and it was disgustingly dirty. We were constantly aware of the dirty walls and other surfaces. We were surprised that the sheets were clean for the first night anyway, but they came from a linen service. For a couple of hundred more for the four nights we could have been very comfortable elsewhere and avoided the transport costs and need to eat out, which we had hoped to avoid. A lesson learned!
Very unsupportive staff and filthy rooms”
1) Hot water supply is an issue.Even after raising the issue with the owner he didnt supply hot water. 2) The bed sheets, rooms were not clean.Mosquitoes were present in the room. 3) Locks of the doors are not in operating condition. 4) Very poor response from staff. 5) I had left the room one day before check out. I would never recommend this property to any one
Just Right for the Price”
We booked this place a few hours before we arrived in Melbourne. It was easy to locate and the place is quite near the Chapel St area where food shops are around. The place in itself provides facilities to cook your own food but a bit small though. Overall, with the price that you will pay, this place is just right.
Where do I even start? Our booking was made months ago, they didn't see it til we arrived. They then wanted us to move to a different apartment then to move back to theirs. They didn't then have a key to the room we were given, so they took the whole door handle off and we were locked in our room for 45 minutes while the man went away to try and find a new door lock and handle. We were then given wrong key and were locked out of our room. Fridge was broken and our food went off, the promised to resolve issue and didn't. They moved all our stuff to a different room without us there and without asking first. Got bites all over my body from the bed. Very unclearly. Awful.
Would not recommend ”
Wouldn't stay there again while it was close to a tram stop and taxi fare from st kilda was cheap the room had bedding that had burn holes in it hard as pillows to hurt your neck a toilet door that u had to step into the shower to close and a toilet that even with the seat down would splash everywhere. First night we stayed there was fairly quiet and peaceful the Saturday night we arrived home to vomit on the front door step and on the balcony and awoken to a fight/screaming match at 5am. No elevators so had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. Self contained unit to cook food but no cutlery pots or even plates ate our already made pasta in a mug
