This is my second stay at this hotel and the Grand has truly made a fan out of me. Having checked into 4 different hotels before arriving at the Grand, I found that this hotel was better than most hotels in Tamil Nadu and is even better than newer 5 star hotels that have recently been launched in Chennai. The familiar sound of 'Vanakkam' as a greeting whether over the phone or in person gave me great comfort. The hotel staff were excellent and for once I found a hotel staff member who refused a tip, despite my insistence, in India. The food at breakfast was excellent and the spa which I finally had time to use was truly professional. Thank you Grand, I will be back for sure

Would have been nicer to see a mini library and a games area.eg. Pool table. Food is very expensive.and added taxes are unreasonable. Hotel tax Tamil Nadu tax Central government tax Above taxes cost more than the value of the chosen food. Bill was included with the chocolates that we have not eaten from the minibar.

Great location, spacious club room , staff very helpful (esp Bala in reception and bala in house keeping). water , good coffee in room( not always replenished but appeared when asked) and excellent turn down service . The hotel is a little tired and not 5 star but still good value for money. We had 2 rooms,one for my husband and I and the other for my daughter . One room was larger with good bathroom, other room was smaller with a bathroom that needed to be updated. .Debendra in the front desk should have been more thoughtful and given the bigger room to the couple......... check the room before you accept it. Room service - very quick. Delicious Buffet breakfast with enormous spread of local and european items. Made to order, Omelette ,dosa , paratha station, the list goes on. We ate at the earthen oven restaurant - NW frontier food - was fantastic - one of the best meals I have had this trip. Bottom line - little renovation and this could be one of the best.

We stayed for only one night on our way out of Tamil Nadu on our way to Malaysia. We chose the hot because of a free airport shuttle deal through Agoda. My husband is a vegan and the downstairs restaurant provided an appropriate lunch after discussion with the chef. Well done! Chennai had multiple power cuts during our stays and the hotel generator clicked in immediately. Wifi worked OK, not always the case in Tamil Nadu. On arrival we were told that we had been Upgraded to a club room, which gave us access to s special lounge for our breakfast. This was great, as we had an early flight. Nice breakfast with plenty of choice. We had previously spent four nights at The Residency, the smaller sister hotel of Residency Towers and preferred it to the more expensive Residency Towers. The latter is larger, has a pool and other facilities the former does not have, but seems to cater for groups rather than the independent traveller. Sleep proved impossible because of loud and continual noise of machinery, possibly the central air conditioning system. Turning off our rooms air con did not help. Earl plugs did not help either and our stay was spoiled by this.

The best thing is the Duty Manager who is NASIM. He is wonderful and, has the highest work ethic. I had never come across such well mannered, kind and trained Duty Manager. He went over and beyond to make our stay memorable. Thank you for giving us a very warm welcome and kind assistance on making our stay happy... Our stay at Kences Palm Beach has been a pleasure. Everything was beyond perfect, and my family and I were well taken care of. The resort is very beautiful and integrated services and excellent, and our Beach Villa is so beautiful, clean and comfortable and it was so close to the beach. We will definetly be returning in the near future.

we had a nice stay at the accord metropolitan. the staff was very nice, the royal indianaa and the pergola offer good food, breakfast in the cafe was good as well. they're drivers that they offer to take you on day trips are expensive. call one of the taxi services instead. also, for a business hotel, more of their staff needs to speak more languages. surprisingly, out of all the places we stayed in tamil nadu, even rameswarem where i was the only western person, we had the most trouble communicating with staff at the accord. my tarzan tamil helped. also, stop playing kenny g!!!

My husband and I stayed with our 2 young kids here for 2 nights - from 8 to 10 September 2018. I have travelled and stayed in many hotels in India and around the world , and I must say that this hotel is one of the best in my books - in terms of service , cleanliness , ambience and aesthetics and infrastructure and warmth and hospitality . We were given a sea view room facing the Bay of Bengal - it was peaceful and serene . One will really feel like a royalty when entering the hotel . Everyone from the bellman to the porters , ushers , Housekeeping and staff at the breakfast buffet restaurant area fantastic in the warmth and service they extend to you . The service delivery is highly consistent . I had asked for extra complimentary cookies for my young children and also shower gels and all were given to me very promptly ( unlike other good hotels ). Special mention- probably one of the few hotels that provide u with such ample complimentary mineral water for your use .

Hi, Since, we booked through agoda.com, the resort guys didn't get our contact & hence weren't able to assist us in reaching the hotel. The place is located in the middle of the forest (See Google Maps Satellite view to get a feel of what i am saying here) & we reached there by 6am via bus, (which was our mistake. Going by Car is preferred). We got dropped off nearby (about 1km away) with the help of google maps, but there was no street lights or even humans. We got pissed off, but we saw this resort's small board arrow sign with a number in it. Tried reaching it. Hopefully we had signal(Airtel) in our mobile at that point & thankfully a guy attended our call & asked us to wait there and they sent us a car to pick up. The only way to the resort is terrible. We couldn't even imagine now about walking out in that darkness. This was about to make our trip a terrible one, but somehow it ended up well. Pros: 1.) The place/location/middle-of-the-forest was awesome. 2.) View point from swimming pool was extraordinary with pure crystal water. 3.) Served us Yummy Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner Buffet. 4.) The place was too chill & almost covered with mist. Cons: 1.) No adventure activities during rainy season. 2.) Not allowed to bath in falls that runs just behind this resort. 3.) No network or Wifi(Except in their reception). 4.) We reached there by 6am but we weren't given a room until our checkin time(1pm). There was no availability is what they said. Tragedy: There was a fence to stop people from going to falls, but one of our friend went beyond that & slipped & got a injury on head. It was part of our mistake as well, but it would've been better if these hotel guys should've locked that fence. I hope this long review of mine helps someone else planning to go to this place. I am Bangalore born settled in Sydney. Every time I visit Chennai I look forward to indulge in listening to people speaking in my mother tongue Tamil. Unfortunately, I hear more of Hindi. Chennai has been changing slowly and steadily over the time. I am not against anyone from other states being employed; the staff are fabulous and all are doing their jobs in a wonderful manner. However, I would just wish that they learn Tamil as part of getting skilled to work in Chennai. It is not that they have to be proficient in Tamil. But at least to a certain level where they are able to maintain the originality of our Singara Chennai :) I wish the businesses in Chennai keep this point in their Charter and work on it.

Hyatt Regency Chennai said, on my arrival, that they could not give me my room because there were issues with their 'foreigner registration' process. The govt immigration dept has apparently suspended their permission to accept foreigner's bookings. They emailed me about this just the day before my arrival - an email I did not see because I was out of internet contact at that time (being in rural Tamil Nadu). The email wasn't even from 'Hyatt Regency' but from someone on the staff called 'Dave' - not professional. They relocated me to Park Hyatt which is a totally different part of the city. I explained that we had chosen Hyatt Regency (for a family event) because it was close to the event venue. So the issue was very inconvenient and resulted in much time taken up with revising our plans and extra travel around the city. The only compensation they offered was 'points' towards one free night for one person at some time in the future. I will not be availing myself of this.

The best thing about YERCAUD is possibly the fact that there is very little to do. At an altitude of 5000 meters, this translates to the best way to enjoy some solitude, look aimlessly into the horizon and zone out. And Lake Forest enables you to do just that. Lake Forest is a very picturesque boutiqueish resort that will rejuvenate your city senses at every turn. I think the word that describes it the best is, tasteful. If ‘nature’ tops you things to do in your 2-day escapade to Yercaud, the verdant and withering mix of wood and greenery is just what you may need. The feel of the place is extremely soothing and the rooms over all very comfortable. The Chief General Manager Mr.Sunit Dutt was kind enough to take us on a recce of several of the rooms and should you have a similar chance you might come out confused on your ideal choice of a room – each of them are extremely tasteful and unique. The resort is in the midst of a small coffee plantation and a walk around the place is just outside your room. The resort offers a small but very picturesque walking trail and is a stone’s throw (almost opposite) the Yercaud Lake. Food on the A La Carte menu was very well priced and well made. There were a few glitches on the room service but it didn’t mar the overall experience over all. I however would have expected a little more variety and options over their breakfast and other buffets given their pricing of the rooms. The other similar priced options in Yercaud are GRT Nature Trails and Hotel Grand – we checked out both of them; while they were extremely good with the creature comforts, none matched the natural warmth that Lake Forest exuded. I am pretty sure where I would like to stay on my next trip to Yercaud.

Had stayed for 2 nights here on a family trip. Hotel is located on a hill top and Is at walkable distance from the tea factory and about 10mins drive by car to boat house. As its on a hill, this isn't in the heart of city type hotel with small roads and congested traffic which is what I had wanted and you get a very nice view from the garden especially during night with all the lights in ooty. Also the hotel staff is very helpful and there is car parking facility in the premises. Lobby area and large garden are their plus points and they also have a kids indoor play area where you can let your kids alone to play on their own without any fears. The play area also has a good badminton court, TT table, Snooker, chess, carrom and also a cardio gym with sauna. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The restaurant food was OK, but if you're a hardcore tandoori chicken person and want a large variety of food, best to eat out as the hotel does not provide tandoori items. We had ordered some parathas, Chinese chicken and daal which were good. Breakfast options were decently good , specifically liked the puri and sambar. Overall a good place to stay on a family trip and excellent value for money for the 3500/- per night room that I had stayed in👍

Excellent hotel in virtually all aspects. One of the best hotels I have stayed in and thoroughly recommended. Only thing I would change is the way to get a taxi. The hotel taxi service is very expensive and staff are not very helpfully when booking a non hotel cab from NTL or Fast Car (the two main city companies)so often you are waiting in your room while the taxi is in the lobby and staff have not made you aware. This happened a couple times, which is a shame, as other than that this is a really excellent hotel.

I booked this hotel for a day stop over before my flight as I have kid and baby . When I came my kid picked local virus and fell sick. We cancelled our trip until he felt better. Every single person in the hotel was so caring and amazing hospitality Chef cooked baby and pepper jeer rasam rice how it has to be served for sick person Following person performed amazing above and beyond service Mukesh from f&b dept in room dining service Food department: Dilli babu from south indian dept & Sasi from south indian dept House keeping: amazing . They wait until my kids wake up and when they play they clean by then Bikaram from restaurant service And more people No worries of hotel as they take care more than a house in terms of need. Overall they are very friendly and so caring in a needy situation. We felt like home, so fortunate to have this hotel booked during a crisis situation.i would highly recommend this hotel anytime.

one of the best five stars hotel in the neighbourhood. love the variety of restaurants offered inside the hotel for dinner. clean, spacious room with excellent staffs. the only downside for me is the selection of buffet for breakfast. other than that, excellent

This hotel was one of the best in Chennai but I would now say it is the BEST. The 601 restaurant must serve the best food in India and I cant fault the staff so a big pat on the backs for the staff who have obviously been well trained by the management. A business is only as good as its staff and this hotel deserves 10 out of 10

Room service is a bit slow. The hot water heater did not work until we called for it to be repaired. The bathroom had a smell of sewer gas; the hotel's solution: put some deodorant/fragrance sticks in the bathroom and hope for the best. When my wife went exercising in the gym, a male security guard showed and continuously stared at her during her exercise routine. All these not exactly in line with a five star facility

When my husband and I first entered the hotel, we felt that we were getting into a resort in Bali or Thailand (rather than some places in India) with open and relaxing space, clean with fresh air which was just out of our expectation in Madurai. The staff there are nice with friendly smile on face. And their restaurant can provide both good Indian and western cuisine which are the best in the town so we had all our meals there in these 2 full days. If I really have to say the cons for Heritage Madurai, it would be the mosquitoes I find there were just more than any hotels I stay in Tamil Nadu. Happened to not apply repellent on skin, my legs became meals for mosquitoes in the morning and night. so apply enough mosquitoes repellent and then you can enjoy your meals probably in their open area of restaurant. The other suggestion is to have a souvenir store embedded which sell some souvenir with designs..this was just another channels to sell the brand concept of the hotel

One of the best Hotels We have stayed in India.The Staff at Coffee Shop is excellent,need to mention especially David,Hussein and Kiran.They made us feel so homely.Very good Spa a special Thank you to Mani for excellent Pedicure.Staff at this Hotel is very good.Our first time in Coimbatore for Medical Reasons.We have some wonderful memories.The only negative point is the Bathroom exhaust fan did not work so at times the drainage was a bit smelly.Other than that it was a fantastic stay.Will return for sure.Glad We selected this Hotel on Agoda.

We spent few days in this hotel as weekend getaway from the rush of Delhi.Didn't have high expectations, wanted to experience something new. The hotel is nice and clean, services corresponds to the number of stars of the hotel. Originally we planned to stay at the sea, but this was not an option, access to the sea is through public access road and beach itself is not equipped with the amenities, allowing guests to stay there for the longer time. There is nowhere to sit or lay and there is no shade on the beach. Beach itself is very nice and water seamed to be clean as well. Hotel staff confirmed, this is going to be construction focus of the year. Dining experience was excellent thanks to the helpful staff. There is a long list of the Indian and continental meals in the menu, but we didn't choose anything from the list. We were allowed to instruct chef with the own receipt for the fish cook and this made our day - the meal was exactly as as our home. Internet connection had connectivity and bandwidth problems, recommending to enhance coverage and change the provider to get better speed and lover aggregation levels. At the time of our stay, many families with the kids stayed at the hotel, making it little bit noisy, but still on acceptable level by us. Swimming pool, spa were clean and on good level of the service. There was no bar at the swimming pool, you could order the drink to the place of your sunbathing. Overall, very good experience, corresponding to the number of the stars. Want to point out one big differentiator- staff customer focus. They act the way you make them your friends and feel as at home. Nothing was impossible for them, they acted the way our requests were accommodated to our satisfaction.

Even cheapest motel in USA provides free coffee 24 hours to ALL residents . They don’t differentiate between towers and non towers. I did not pay low rate though it was non towers . 1400 rupees for three coffee is a rip off after I paid lot of money for room People outside lobby always want tips. Very awkward Front desk is too slow. Keys got invalidated few times and getting them reactivated took for ever due to slow front desk Most of staff did not speak Tamil and the English was too hard to follow ., CHOLA hotel Looks like ITC Grand Chola is for business paid customers and not for people like us By the way my son got married at ITC and it was not cheap . Sorry for my honest feedback

Staff went out of their way to help by providing a late afternoon check out, directions to locations of interest and even briefing taxi drivers for us. This is a luxurious hotel but the staff are very friendly and helpful and not snooty at all. The breakfasts are outstanding with an amazing buffet plus a la carte menu. The pool area is beautiful and the gym is also impressive. We stayed in transit between Tamil Nadu and Mumbai on holidays but this would also be an excellent hotel as a business traveller.

I am a local resident and I chose this hotel for celebrating my marriage anniversary and they made my anniversary memorable with their awesome hospitality and service. Customer service meaning I felt in this hotel after long time. Thanks for your service. I am planning to make a regular visit.😊

It was excellant, unforgetable experiance to me and my family after a long lime and one of the best places that we have visited so far. Very good staff including GM - Mr. Santan who was personally attentive for all matters in the Hotel.

Stayed for two nights as part of a business trip. This is a really nice business hotel. While I do not know whether I should call it as a "five star" hotel (may be the government has lowered standards/ ambiance required for 5 star!), I would consider it as a great place for business stay. The best part of this hotel is its staff. Room service staff were very quick in response and very courteous. Front desk and travel desk were also very helpful. The ambiance of the hotel is okay, and I wouldn't say its the best. The colour scheme inside resembles more of a casino, than a luxury hotel. I would also say that the entrance door of the hotel with advertisements looked very odd! May be the management should consider replacing it with a see through door.

There are no words to describe this excellent place. They offer best of everything I have had in India, food, care, effort, generosity and customer service I give 10 stars ! The best Ayurvedic massage , lovely garden and clean pool Thank you all I will be back for sure

We upgraded to a ‘Club’ room (although there is no actual Club floor or lounge) which ended up being a lovely big room on the top floor, and happy hour(s) drink and snacks. Oddly, the room’s mini-bar cupboard and fridge were completely empty, although the checklist of all the yummy drinks and snacks we DIDN’T have was there. We had a huge bathroom, super comfortable bed, linen and towels were excellent. The property in general is comfortable, clean, well-serviced with friendly helpful and efficient staff. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. We used a hotel car and driver to go to Ooty for the day...great driver, nice car, good rate. Tick, tick and tick 😀 We ate at Peacock one night...excellent. The only down-side for us was the pool area. We had a spare day and intended to laze by the (gorgeous) pool for the day before a night flight home. The huge pool is fenced off with rope (?) with the only access to it via the steps; there were water hoses and electric cables everywhere around the concourse; there was only ONE scruffy pool lounge with lonely side table; you had to hunt for pool towels (men’s locker room, lockers 1, 2, & 3!); there is no pool attendant or food or drinks service around the pool; and the two outdoor jacuzzis were broken. There was another indoor jacuzzi in the back spa area, which you had to book to use, (my partner did, and it was cold!). Such a shame, as this area should be one of the hotel’s greatest assets...instead it’s a disgrace.

This hotel is a XIX century "baroque" palace. Amazing and beautiful in a very awkward region of Tamil Nadu: The Chettinad. You feel like returning to the past, amongst maharadjahs and rich traders. Difficult to describe the feeling. At night, the view from the terrace roof is wonderful. Excellent local cooking

A great hotel with excellent management. Great experience started with my pre-booking inquiries by emails. Of the three 5-star hotels I contacted, Hilton was the most responsive, giving the most detailed information on tours and car service on the same day. Room size is good, not particularly big, but very clean and comfortable. Lighting is just right - bright but warm. Hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The first hotel staff we met in person was the hotel rep who picked us up at the airport. The rep was in hotel uniform, looked professional and was very courteous. Concierge staff who helped us with our tours and the lady Front Desk Manager were particularly impressive, very composed and patient and always wore a smile, despite our complicated tour arrangement and demanding room requests. My special requests for rooms that I put down at the time of booking were all taken care of. You felt you're really welcome. Staff were attentive to details and courteous. I ordered some amenities but forgot to remove the 'Do not disturb' sign. The bell boy who came to my room with the items didn't knock at my door; instead, the front desk called to let us know the bell boy was waiting outside. Food was not so good as we wanted. Steak was fine; pasta, so so; Thai green curry chicken, not quite the taste. Food needs improvement but the multicuisine restaurant where we had our meals was comfortable. The hotel doesn't have great views anywhere, but the lady duty manager took effort and managed to find us a room with an ok view. Anyway, it doesn't seem easy to find a hotel in Guindy and Chennai city with great views. Overall, we were very happy with this hotel. We picked the right choice.
