One of the most lovely places..... anywhere ”
My 5th or 6th time at this beautiful boutique hotel. Lovely , tasteful rehab'd older building. You know the owners deeply care about the experience. Nice beds, high quality linens, nice artwork, beautiful orientation of the rooms with porches or gardens. Old world colonial comfort and graciousness. Breakfast dining is literally on a deck overlooking the Mekong. Nice breakfast, fresh omlet/egg chef. well staffed. At all times, you can find the owner or manager in front, on the porch or generally personally overseeing the daily business and interactions, but again, understated and with a minor presence. Staff is friendly, polite, and multi-lingual, maids to chefs to business staff. So comfortable, it is like coming home for me each time!
Excellent location, close to night Market and very safety, and near the river. Staffs very nice and helpfull, and excellent service mind. The room is very large and super clean and has plenty of utensils. Recommend for and wish to back here again later
River view but traffic noise at night”
The hotel is within the old quarters. Although a room facing the Mekong River offers river view, it comes with traffic noise at night as a road runs between the hotel and the riverfront. The room we were in also has water hammering problem that is particularly annoying during sleeping time.
Not accurate information . . .”
The hotel and service were good and the buffet breakfast was great. What I didn't appreciate was the fact the hotel is advertised and showing as on the river which the reception is but we then had to walk with our suitcases away from the river street where it's located and then down another block to another location. In that location, our room was on the back side so really not what we expected.
A good hotel located opposite to Khong river”
I like the room cleanliness, and hotel location, I had breakfast at Khong river side with the excellent atmosphere of river and Mountain View, and the chill climate in winter. It is located in the central area which I could walk to lots of tourist attractions in Luangprabang. Room is also spacious and well cleaned. I could not find any cons from my stay at this hotel.
a real treat staying at a heritage house”
very charming place, we stayed at Sala LuangPrabang which is one of the riverside villa, the view is a street and the river you will see if you go to the other side of the street where they serve breakfast. Room is on 2nd flr with a patio, we love all the wooden furnishings! Wifi is fast, room is just right for 2, lobby has nice homey feel you can just relax there. It is also walkable to the main street and the pier going to Pak Ou caves, lots of restos and cafes around. Highly recommended if you don't mind paying a bit higher.
Luang Prabang New Year Celebration”
We were lucky to have witnessed the Songkran in Luang Prabang this year and Sala Prabang was an ideal place for it! My friends and I were were so fortunate to have the upstairs room facing the streets. It had a little courtyard with several big trees between our room and the street so we had some privacy. We got to see the celebration of the wetting of the passers-by (as the Songkran festivals do for blessings for the new year) It was so welcoming specially with the summer heat! Our breakfast was across the street but river front! Awesome view and good variety for breakfast, which is a bit difficult for us since we were vegetarians). The rooms were big and clean. We even had a balcony to dry our soaked clothes from the celebration! Sala Prabang's location was so close to the night market, the boat tours, the main streets, great eating places, local mom-and-pop restaurants, money changers, and even temples! We would definitely return here. It was one of our best vacations yet! And we do about 4-6 trips a year. We loved Luang Prabang and Sala Prabang!
Quaint hotel in the heart of the old town ”
The hotel is located along the river front and breakfast is served by the river on a deck. The hotel itself is charming and has a lovely terrace where you can sit and have a drink. The hotel has 3 houses as most if not all hotels in the old town are houses converted into hotels. We stayed in the main house. The other 2 houses are located just behind and on the side. The hotel manager is very friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable.
Hotel by the Mekong”
Pros: Great location, close to main street and restaurants / shops. Room is comfortable enough. Nice riverside restaurants nearby for dinner & drinks at sunset. I booked a room at the Villa but got the Banlao building instead. Cons : The bathroom had a musky smell and the wooden walls doesn't shield the sounds of traffic outside
I get the feeling most of the hotels/guesthouses are generally of a similar standard (with a few exceptions). It seems most hotels range in costs from around AUD40 to AUD200. We chose this one as my family had stayed before and the price was reasonable. The hotel was in a great location. Breakfast, while not earth shatteringly great, was sufficient and included in the price. The hotel room was of a good standard and our room overlooked the street/river on the first floor. There was a bit of street noise, but this was expected going on previous reviews. I think the hotel was nearly overpriced, but because we got the front room i think the price was acceptable. I am guessing other guesthouses nearby were much cheaper and of nearly as good a standard - but I can't be sure. We would stay here again.
Wow, did we enjoy our stay in Luang Prabang in the Sala Prabang. We were upgraded to a studio and had a blast! Great, luxury and spacious room with a large bathroom. You'll have breakfast outdoors, next to the river with freshly baked bread.
great location, relaxing and quiet”
this hotel was quiet and relaxing. The scenery around was beautiful and such an amazing view of the Mekong especially while eating breakfast. the staff where friendly and very happy to help. The location was great, close to everything, and everything was within walking distance. Close to all the restaraunts and shops.. would definitely stay there again. The room was nice and big as was the bathroom, not the most comfortable bed but not the worst.
cute little hotel”
overall it was good but the hotel needs to look at their shower heads as the ones fixed spray water on the floor, get overhead units, one staff member forgot to pass on my new flight details that where delivered to the hotel by lao air, taxi drivers rip you off on your return trip back to the airport by charging you nearly double of the price that it cost to get to the hotel, get a truck tuk tuk back to the hotel the hotel is right on the Mekong and having breakfast right on the water edge is so nice,
Lovely hotel and service mile ,Great location ”
Nice and Clean hotel,All the team staff are very good service ,The location is close to night market and a lot of restaurant around their ,easy to walk from the hotel to get around tourist attraction of Lung phrabang ,I Love this Hotel very much.
A great place to stay in Luang Prabang”
We stayed at the Sala Prabang for four nights. Our rooms were on the ground floor adjacent to the hotel lobby but in a separate building. Our room was spacious and there was a lovely sitting area just outside. Rooms were spotlessly clean with new towels and bathroom supplies every day. A generous breakfast is served every morning across the road on the riverside.
Beautiful, historic hotel.”
This is actually the third time I've stayed in this hotel. I think it's a great place to stay in Luang Prabang. The staff was really nice and the rooms are very comfortable. We had a room that overlooked the Mekong river, which was great!
Pretty hotel in good location ”
I actually stayed in Issada one of the nearby buildings belonging to Sala. Not as pretty as Sala but it perfectly fitted the bill. Staff super friendly and helpful as were those in Sala itself. Breakfast served on the deck at Sala was extensive and tasty
Be aware that the Sala Prabang Hotel may not be the one that you stay in, they have a few properties and on arrival we were told that they have over booked the Sala Prabang Hotel and were taking us to a different one which was not on the Mekong but a block back. This hotel was nice but not what we had booked and were expecting to stay in. There was no apology for the over booking, which lead us to believe that this is an ongoing common practice of getting travelers to book the desired property, only to find it is actually different property altogether.
Good location and great value”
Nice location within walking distance to most tourist sites. Quick check-in and check-out. Hospitable staff. Good base to explore Luang Prabang
Beautiful location by the Mekong, right by the night market and palace - what more can one ask for?”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sala Prabang. The location was right by the Mekong, and this was right next to the palace and where the Night Market comes alive every night. The staff was friendly and helpful. They helped us organize the tuk tuk for the Kuang Si waterfalls and for the Airport on the way back, and also gave us pointers on taking the longtail boat to the Pak Ou caves. Rooms were clean and very well maintained! Arguably one of the best places to stay off the Mekong!!
