Nestled on a cliff amongst coconut groves and tropical fauna, the hotel enjoys spacious, well-appointed rooms and panoramic sea views. Spend your day on the hidden Thongyang Beach or head over to the Beach Club where there are several complimentary water sports to partake in - such as snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing. In the late afternoon you can opt for a relaxing spa treatment or take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service and head over to explore Chaweng or Lamai Beach. Ideal for couples, the hotel not only provides an escape but is also well located to easily access shopping or entertainment venues on the island. A stay at The Kala Hotel in Samui is an absolute treat.

Really nice place to stay , friendly staff nice breakfast not a huge selection if your staying a week like we did but that sort of thing doesn’t worry me to much. We had arrived to a room with a tree blocking the unbelievable view which was a massive disappointment but when I asked staff for a possible room change they were more than helpful moving us the following day to room 331 with spectacular views. There is no beach as such but plenty close buy if u don’t hire a bike it could be expensive to move around through the day because there is not a lot close buy. A bike is 150bht a day and a great way to explore. Lastly there are a lot of stairs. Very peaceful and amazing view plus great value
We booked for a beach-front pool villa for 2 nights. When we arrived we found that the view from our villa is blocked by other villas and trees in front of ours. So there is only a partial sea view unlike we saw in the website. We asked for a better one but there were totally booked on that night. Finally, in the second night, we moved to another villa which had a very stunning sea-view. The foods are quite good.
The hotel is very beautiful and the view is amazing. However, we were a bit disappointed by our room as we expected to have a private pool with sea view (as shown by the picture) but ou private pool were exposed to the view of other guests and extremely cold because never exposed to the sun. So I recommend this hotel, but no need to take the villa with the private pool (especially regarding the price !!) you can take a classic room and enjoy the common pool (which has a great view).
PURE BLISS! ”
My partner and I stayed at The Kala Hotel for 4 nights and were so blown away by our experience there! The views from our room, the pool and even the lobby were beautiful. The hotel was relaxing, quiet and extremely peaceful. The staff were able to assist with anything you needed which made everything very easy. Location is in between the 2 main areas of the island (Chaweng & Lamai) although it was no more than a 10 minute scooter ride each way. If you don’t plan on hiring a scooter you may not find this location ideal as you would have to get a taxi all the time, however we loved being away from the busy areas as we could easily scooter around. Would 100% recommend this hotel!!! It made our stay :)
Good hotel ”
Although we really liked this hotel it wasn’t perfect! We saw reviews complaining about the staff, we had no such issue, the staff were fantastic, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us! The breakfast was ok and great you can have it up until 6pm. The view from the hotel and rooms was fantastic. Now to the negatives, the hotel is getting a bit dated, not a huge issue but is what it is! The hotel is right in the middle of the two main strips, there is a shuttle bus but a taxi is needed if the times don’t work!
+views from the room +staff +breakfest available untill 6pm and it was possible to have e.g. Lunch meals as a breakfest +perfect for total relaxation -if you want to visit the nearby villages (Chaweng, Lamai), the taxi is needed.
We were given a coupon for two free meals, and we asked if we could use them for room service, and when we went to check out they tried to charge us for the meals. The meals were also not made correctly (we ordered vegetarian papaya salad, and they put shrimp in it. The restaurant staff and the hotel staff are separate, and when we tried to correct the error, they got into a big argument in front of us, which struck me as unprofessional and unhospitable. The view and facilities are very nice though. It is a good value for a couple, but not for larger groups.
Wake Up Call”
For a hotel on Samui with all the competition, Kala could easily do so much more. Don't go there if you don't like climbing stairs--cliff side, 4 stories and no elevator. They have a white and brown coconut system for housekeeping and privacy but the staff don't seem to understand and don't clean the rooms when the brown coconut is out. The manager on duty treats guests and staff the same way "bossy". The breakfast is over-priced and the bathrooms have no wash clothes or hand towels --and no water sprayer in the shower--just a big shower head the size of a dinner plate that drips from the ceiling--difficult to clean up. Be careful too when the agoda website says breakfast is included--usually not so when you arrive at the hotel.
Beautiful hotel and location , staff not quite the same ”
Hotel amazing 10/10 Staff very poor 2/10 Reception staff not interested in being receptive!!! Only interest is taking more money from you ,, taxi from hotel to caewang 600 Bht ( hotels own taxi ) taxi back 350bht ... Taxi back
We stayed for only two nights but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a corner suite so the sea view was wonderful. The hotel is perched on the cliffs so there really isn't a beach on the property and there are lots of stairs. The breakfast was very good and the staff were all very attentive.
What a beautiful place! Never ever felt so relaxed, as soon as you arrive you feel you have arrived in heaven, the walk down to the the room(Pool Villa) down several flights of stairs and stone and wooden walkways set in lush tropical gardens was a surprise! As the photos online mainly show damp concrete and peeling paint? The room was spectacular with 180 degree views of the sea and decorated with a shabby chic colonial feel, with no less than 3 showers(I used all of them :-)) with super high pressure, what a pleasure! I'm a greedy person and the a la carte breakfast and in fact all of the food...restaurant and room service was excellent, so after several disappointing meals outside the Hotel, we appreciated and happy with the Hotel offering....which was always presented with lovely cutlery and unusual plates & dishes. If you want a truly relaxing Holiday in quiet, beautiful surroundings with helpful friendly staff this is the place to be...the photos online just do not do it justice!
Pool villa with ocean view perched on cliffs ”
Stunning pool villa with panoramic views of the sea perched on cliffs. Lovely helpful staff. Great getaway if you want to just chill by the hotel and enjoy the facilities. If staying at the pool villa I recommend to stay at least 3 nights to fully enjoy the villa
Most amazing place I have ever stayed ”
We told the hotel it was r honeymoon we got the best pool villa they have views were amazing, villa spotless. The staff couldn't be more helpful and so happy and friendly 😁 would definitely stay again and recommend anybody going to koh sumai to stay here brilliant location close to everything.
Quiet location. Great staff.”
Great staff that were very helpful, friendly and take pride in their work. I inquired about renting a scooter and they contract with a company that dropped 1 off 15 minutes later. Very easy. Nice pool area with a small bar.
View, room, pool, staff, ambiance”
Stayed at duplex pool villa, the pool was great with magnificient view of the ocean, the place's very calm, relaxing, open and closed shower area is awesome..great ocean view, staff with ok english but they will meet ur needs, honest, bike rent shop 5 mins walk away, silver beach less than 5 mins away with bike, balcony with tub and again magnificent ocean view, feels aweful to leave the room for other activities...its a place where u can just stay in, enjoy the private pool, the traditional thai ambiance, quietness, the built, basically u can just stay in n dont bother going out
What a magnificent hotel with fantastic views. Staff are very professional & go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant holiday. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking about visiting Koh Samui.
Nice view with excellent facilities”
The room is excellent and the manager in charge is very nice and helpful. However, due to wheather, we couldnt enjoy the best. Hopefully we will come back during different time of the year to enjoy The Kala.
This is my company annual trip. This hotel is a bit far from town but definitely a relaxation place, away from the crowds. The staffs are generally frindly and helpful. The guest rooms are nice and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there.
great, comfortable, memorable stay. ”
We had a short stay yet it gives us pleasurable experience. The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful. The ocean view from the room give us a peaceful mind. Although the breakfast is not in buffet sytle, we can choose from variety of international foods. there were very nice and affordable spas. The downside is hotel is not equipped with gym room and is rather far from central town.
Relax and comfortable”
Very good experience, rent a motorbike and exposure this island, foods are cheap and delicious, not many shopping here, must try Nutella banana prata... This hotel is sea view, but not near to beach, not suitable for people who like to swim...went there for pre-honeymoon, good experience, the spa there is not very good, many the staff are quite old already...
