Bit expensive side when there are many 5 Star around good for family and good food
Need to upgrade facilities ”
When you pay this much you at least expect some connectivity. Once inside you seem to be cut up from the world. It may be good for some, but if you are on business you can have a tough time. Cellular coverage is very bad and they have WiFi that works only in a small area of their lobby. Even then the speeds are truly bad. And not having a functional bar???? How can you justify this???????
We had a pleasant two night stay. The staff is courteous but the hotel seems under-staffed. The views from behind the hotel are awe-inspiring. There is not much support in terms of concierge, travel desk, etc. The choice of food is limited. Rooms that we stayed in was spacious; the toilets needed some work such as leaking shower. The British era property has large ground with an impressive drive and an equally impressive array of wall-mounted album of royalties with decorative wooden enameled walls. It has a great potential, however parts of the property appears rather neglected. Reasonably priced, it is a good place to spend a few days in Ooty.
Food quality is poor”
Cannot improvise. Chefs are uncooperative and rude. Do not understand requirement of people. Culinary Skills are pathetic.
Royal heritage hotel”
The room we stayed was not maintained well. But property is very good. Feels like you are in palace.
Experience a diffrent era!”
The stay at fernhills palace was very comfortable. The suites were spacious and well appointed. The antique furniture and wall & ceiling paintings added to the uniqueness of the stay. Bathrooms are modern, spacious, functional, except for some minor loose bolts & nuts here and there. The view of the gardens from our room's sitout area is excellent and calming! Staff here are very courteous and helpful, right from the reception to housekeeping. Do not expect a resort kind of commercial experience. We can easily overlook the minor loose wooden flooring, bathroom bolt etc.. and enjoy the stay.
The food is not good. Otherwise, it's one of best places to enjoy your holidays.
It’s a brilliant option located in the heart of Ooty city yet hidden from the rapid commercialisation the town is slowly becoming. The rooms are extra spacious in fact the deluxe suite has beds for six people as opposed to the two according to Agoda. Please contact hotel before booking via Agoda to avail the offers. It’s a calm, serene glimpse of the total way of life.
We stayed in Deluxe Suite for a day. Location :It was very pleasant location. 3 km from bus stand. You will get Auto or Car from Bus stand. Need enough time to take walk around the palace. Rooms:- Its very nice Royal Room with Good Furniture & Ambiances .Very spacious rooms with private sitting area. They provide Room Heaters. Good bathroom with Jacuzzi .Hot water is available in morning & evening. Food : Ala Cart is very very expensive(No other choice). But you will get the complimentary Break Fast. Believe me… all Food excellent. Even we feel omelette also some different taste.WOW to Chef. Staffs :- Very limited staffs are in the premises. But all are well groomed. Overall : Little expensive .But its worth to stay in Palace where Kings & British people stayed.
Worst property ever visited”
It is the worst property i have ever visited . No activities for kids. So badly maintained. Looks like a scary house. No proper lightening. Associated with lots of ghost stories. Please remove this property from your site.
It was a place , where you kind of went back in time and that made it very interresting.
Fantastic place and value”
We were lucky to be the only guests for one night and were treated like family in the hotel. Where else do you get your own orangery as part of your suite?!
Nothing Royal about it!”
The welcome heritage wasn't welcoming enough! The staff...who were just few in number.... We're neither smiling nor welcoming!! No major amenities apart from the sprawling lawns... No al'a carte available...just buffet which is chargeable.... The palace too needs a lot of maintenance.... Not worth the money they charge!!
With 10K+ in May per day - the facilities should have been more. The location and view from here is very nice. The ball room, even the suites are wonderful. But the billiards table was not working, no bar, and it was leaking at many places when it rained.
Everything about this property is nice. Only things they need to improve is menu. There isn't good options available as far as food is concerned. Also they need to make this place differently abled friendly. Similarly all the suits aren't senior citizens friendly. Further some of the suits have seepage problem when it rains. If these things are taken care of then this would be an excellent place to spend your holidays.
Very good Staff and Great facility. Had a very good time. Will come next time
Location of the property is excellent but the grounds & outlook of property is maintained v poorly ”
Floors squeak, no heating & property is very poorly maintained. Staff is very friendly & dedicated. Food is excellent & economical. Due to location & historical importance this can be the best property in OOTY if owners can pay attention to details & Maintanance of the property.
If you wanna feel Royal this is the place . Not talking about service or any thing, but the fact that once Kings and Queens stayed over there. The staffs are nice but few. When I had my visit ,we were the only family I guess and my experiance was 5 Star. If you wanna feel something different from usual this is the place to be. Live like a King ,live like a Queen, live like a Prince , live like a Princess. Rooms are exceptionaly large and quite and calm. Cons No room heater but they do provide a blower which doesnt do much. I stayed during August ,I ve no clue what they will do in those winter times. Heard they serve Pork, hence not recommended for Halal diet. Take the Avalanche road to the palace ,they other one is unimaginable. Overall its worth an experiance and I would be glad to visit again ,but you will require a bigger purse
We had a wonderful time at the Fernhills Royal Palace. The hotel itself is a spectacular colonial-era British manor house where you can really feel the history of the place, and the grounds and buildings just beg to be explored! Rooms were enormous, and views were spectacular. Staff was very helpful as well. This was without a doubt the best part of our stay in Ooty.
Fernhills Palace looks beautiful in the photos but it was not nearly what I expected from the reviews. The electricity went out over 10 times during our 1 night stay. The "bar" had only beer and wine and there was no bar tender. The whole place was so cold and hot water for showers was limited. Wifi was only available in the lobby. Its a beautiful property but no one is maximizing the potential of it and there are few staff members to make it feel like its a functioning hotel. There was a tennis court which was inoperable. The staff was nice and food ok but they need to beef up the staff presence and get everything operating so it feels lively and people actually want to stay there vs take the long trek into town to do anything. It felt very isolated.
