Aava Resort & Spa
This is a nice hotel located just in front of the beach . Beautiful area and achitecture and very quiet place to stay for a family holiday with young childrens . They have good western food for a normal high class hotel price , but the Thai food is very bad and very very very expensive .
Stunning Private Peaceful - Heaven ”
Private and luxurious. We had the best ocean front villa #6 - We experienced a variety of weather conditions too. The heavy downpours provide a romantic element to the visit. A lovely window box to sit in with the rain streaming down the windows. The beach was awesome and tranquil in he beginning though a big storm came through and that was the end of that, for our brief stay. So we just luxuriate in the awesome waterfront pool, napped, enjoyed the two daily cocktail hours, got up early enjoyed the stunning sunrises and delicious ala carte breakfast with and endless supply of delicious food. We took a short tour into the local market in the evening where we got heaps of locally made snacks. This is Absolute heaven though remember you can't control the weather you can control your own imagination though, read relax meditate & luxuriate there are taichi and yoga classes & massage spa. Plan your time to maximise your experience, we did and Aava resort at Khanom was unforgettable.
the place is quiet and very nice, just a few feet from the sea. the rooms are a bit too small, every thing is okey only the hot water is not working,i told the staff but still remain the same but over all the location is the best.
Hidden gem, little tired around the edges”
When it was it was first built we can imagine that this hotel was stunning, it's still lovely, however a little tired around the edges Staff very helpful and attentive Great breakfast Great location
Just so so, not a great place to visit”
Stayed 3 nights in Aava, quiet disappointed about the hotel standard. Room was not clean and small. Pool is so so, gym is small and bad location. However, they offer good food and the restaurant is right in front of the beach. I won't go back this place anymore.
Loved this hotel and spa idyllic”
The 4 of us had a wonderful stay at this resort. We made full use of the organised trips, the in house spa for massages and the delicious breakfasts. We would love to return one day. Our only comment would be to have more hooks in the bathroom and perhaps more of a bistro for lunch snacks at more reasonable prices.
Great breakfast, helpful staff, but overrated”
I wanted this short break to be special so opted for a 'special' hotel, as described. The hotel was ordinary in most respects, and less than ordinary in others. The room was tiny and felt quite claustrophobic. There are no grassed areas where children can play. The pool was quite small. The description for Aava makes it sound like something similar, but it isn't. OK, it doesn't have rainshowers and pebbles in the shower enclosure, but I can forego these superficial features. Aava has a nice kids' room and offers a free childcare service. The hotel also provides free meals for young children. These are really nice touches and the staff were great with our daughter. The breakfast at Aava was excellent (quite unusual in Thailand) and set me up for the whole morning. The menu is good but the food is extremely expensive for local standards. Tourists arriving from Helsinki may not think the prices are expensive, but for those of us living in Thailand it is quite a shock to see evening meals and fried rice . Similarly, the spa prices are expensive. I'm sure the service is very good, and I know the prices are a lot cheaper than Europe and Scandinavia, for a Thai massage is slightly more than that I pay at home. If you drive there yourself, which I guess that most guests don't, there is no hotel sign on the roadside. The sign in front of the hotel is printed in a weird 'artistic' font and is barely legible. Initially I drove past, and even when I drove back the hotel was difficult to identify. There is also very little parking.
Very nice and friendly hotel”
We (my girlfriend, my daughter(1 year old) and my parents went there the first time and will sure come again. Its a very nice resort. Little offside, but very quiet. They also have foreigners working there as staff, so its very easy to comunicate there. The rooms are very nice and clean. The breakfast was really great. The Staff are very friendly. Its directly at the beach and has a good pool. We will come there again sure.
My husband and I stayed a night at this hotel. The parking area is enough but it should be better organized than this(The parking area is a grassfield in front of the hotel). The room we stayed is not well cleaned because we found some dry rice grain stuck at the day bed. The coffee machine is broken. The room is decorated most with glass window which made us feel non private, despite of the curtain providing which could not fully covered and someone could possibly look inside. Besides, the beach and the sea is really nice, and breakfast is well prepared though there were a lot of annoying insects flying while we was having our breakfast.
had a wonderful two night stay. although it is clear you are in thailand, this resort surpassed my expectations. we arrived on bicycles and one of is had a little mechanical hiccup. a driver was arranged to drive him 150km round trip instantly. the restaurant food was incredible, although they don't really understand the idea of a 'tasting menu' and treat it more like a 'set menu' it was incredibly delicious. the drinks are perhaps a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. there are alternate options within easy reach but as an overall experience it was the best resort i've seen for a lng time. interesting architecture, friendly staff, endless clean sand beach, no crowds, no drunks, no noise, great ambience. some little hiccups in the room perhaps, like ill fitting sink plug, but nothing to detract from a perfect stay. the wifi wasn't working very well in the room, but it did elsewhere!
rained while i was there and i was a day late due to plane delays so i did not get to fully enjoy the place. but they had good food, nice cumfy beds clean and light bathrooms. i only wish i had the time to go see the pink dalphins. i guess that gives me a nice excuse to come back someday.
The best resort in Khanom”
Stayed for 3 days in the end of the holidays - wish could stay longer. The staff went out of the way to provide the best possible service. Million thanks, especially to Tan! The hotel is off the beaten tracks, in the south of almost deserted Nadan beach, about 30 min by taxi from Donsak pier. The grounds are nicely decorated and very well kept. The rooms are individual villas with two terraces. The beds are extremely comfortable, with quality bed linen. Stylish interiors, all necessary conveniences. The staff is very friendly and helpful everywhere - the reception, the restaurant, the pool and beach. Would go back anytime.
Beautiful, lovely, nice place to just relax”
I LOVE Aava Resort! Right before our arrival, I read a very negative recent review (something about inedible breakfasts and bad facilities) which worried me a bit--I was pleasantly surprised to find the opposite (what that guy was smoking, I don't know... perhaps he was a competitor?). This is the kind of place where I would love to bring extended family and future kids to just all hang out together, like a family reunion--too bad it is a bit out of the way, travel-wise. I really loved the aesthetics of the place, from the rooms (inside and out) to the wooden deck walkways, to the gorgeous pool layout in front of the pool villas and the beautiful view of the sea while sitting in the pool. One plus about the pool is there is this built-in underwater seating "shelf/bench" that goes all around the edge of the pool so you can just "sit" there in the water, enjoying your surroundings. This was a nice splurge on our trip since we tried to stay at mid-range level priced places in other places in Thailand. Breakfasts were quite nice, fresh bread and rolls provided with butter and jam, and then you could order any variety of the various breakfasts. Be prepared for things to sometimes not taste "quite right" (i.e., skip the french toast) but other things were SO delicious, like the yogurt topped with a sprinkle of blueberries and a drizzle of honey and berry juice, and their freshly blended "smoothie" drink. Definitely worth visiting during the low season (for the price), plus it is less crowded. If price is an issue, the basic rooms really are quite enough (no need to upgrade). The hotel restaurant meals really are too expensive but the front desk was very helpful in that they provided a free shuttle service to a nearby restaurant at another hotel (5 mins away)--the food there was much more reasonably priced and quite delicious.
Aava Resort in Khanom”
Deluxe room we stayed is a bit small and has no sea view. However, these cons could be compensated by the resort nice decoration throughout the area and its outstanding breakfast. Khanom beach itself is breath-taking beautiful and also very quiet. Perfect place for honey moon, I suppose.
The ressort is very new and on a very nice and quiet beach. The whole area is still hardly developed (not many bars, restaurants, etc.), so do not come here if you are a party animal. Ideal if you want to relax for some days or spent your honeymoon. Staff is friendly and helpfull, restaurant is very good,
secluded beach retreat”
Aava resort is very new - nearly completed - with a lovely location on a deserted beach at Khanom - just a short hop from samui on the ferry and easy drive south from donsak. the resort is small with friendly and attentive staff and delicious food - amazing breakfasts and oven baked pizzas! This hotel is a sanctuary of peace and seclusion - perfect for a few days break to relax or explore Surat Thani / Nakhon Sri Thamarat provinces by car.
