                  A...Mazing”

We found this island by coincident. My girl wanted to swim with big turtles and Balicasag just jumped out of the screen. She fell in love with the island right away, and it did not disappoint. The resort is very nice and really want to help you. There is one girl at the reception with an 'I'm to pretty to be workin' attitude, but it's more funny than it is anoying tho! The cottages are pretty nice and spacious. The island is about 400m in diameter so you walk around it in no time. At any point you can just walk into the water and snorkle. There is a turtle point where you can find the most and biggest turtles. They are very relaxed and will just swim around with you. Well, they did with me, not with my girlfriend who really wanted it, so that pretty much pissed her off to my entertainment. The next day we went to the turtle point again and we found a turtle who was willing to swim a lap or 2 with the wife, so all was good! The food at the bar is good! The juices are very nice! Try fresh mango juice if you have the chance! Would definitely recommend people to stay at least one night on Balicasag!

                  great for snorkeling/diving”

great snorkelng right on the beach

This resort is run by the Philippine tourism Authority. It is the only resort on this small island of 3000 persons. For location the price was very fair. The circumference of the island is approximately 1 mile round. The resort is clean, rooms are clean, staff friendly restaurant is satisfactory. Not nearly as rustic as other reviews led me to believe. For snorkeling i'm yet to find a better place in the Philippines. Electricity is sometimes limited from 6 am til 10 am and then from 2-5 pm, but while we were there they only shut it off once. Shower pressure is extremely low. shower before you arrive. You will need bucket and pail to get soap from hair. Other than snorkeling/diving, swimming pool, star gazing, eating, sun tanning; There little to do here. If you don't like these you will be quickly bored even if you like these you might be ready for a change after 2 or 3 days. Overall I was very pleased with the resort but I love snorkeling. BTW The beaches here are mostly corral and hard to walk on.

                  isolated, cozy, beautiful

we lived in balicasag island dive resort 2 nights during the 2012 chinese spring festival. the staff are friendly and guard watching 24 hours, it's safe, cozy and beautiful. a better choice to live than alona beach. and it's the best dive and snorkeling places before the resort.

                  Idyllic Vacation For Divers”

Great value, location, quiet, fantastic reef surrounding the island, safety conscious and competent, friendly guides

i had heard about balicasag island as a prime dive destination, but thought it was too far away. as it turns out, it is an easy flight from manila to bohol (tagbilaran airport), then a 30 minute drive to the shore, then 30-45 minute boat (bangka) ride, depending upon the waves, to the resort. the island is owned by the government and there is only one resort. the resort has a 12 foot deep pool for diving instruction, plus another large pool for diving. the beach is white sand and very clean, although, as it seems everywhere, plastic and tsinellas litter the beach in places. diving was the best anywhere, with 60+ foot visibility, depths from 15-100+ feet easily accessible, and 84 degree water. if there is wind, it can be choppy, but then we just dove on the other side of the island, which was calm. food was prepared to order, rather limited in selection, and good, but if you are a "foody", you will be disappointed.

Fantastic Place for snorkelling with turtles and coral ”

Really liked the feel of this place. The beach is made up of white sand and coral pebbles and it runs all the way around the perimeter of the island. Out in the water, the coral running along the edge of and down the drop-off is spectacular directly out in front of the Resort. For the best coral, swim out to the drop-off at the northern end of the Resort and then swim southwards following the drop-off around. Best time to snorkel is early in the morning (before the day trippers arrive). We saw lots of schools of fish and at least a dozen turtles. One of them was huge and most of them were happy to hang around with us. Visibility was excellent. Coral has been knocked around close in to shore (has been trampled on by the day trippers). However, you just need to get out beyond the shallows (ie beyond where the day trippers can stand up) to the drop-off to find some truly beautiful hard and soft corals. If you are looking for a 5 Star experience then this isn’t the place for you. The two rooms we had were rustic/basic but more than adequate for what we needed. They both had new air conditioners. Showers are cold water only. Some previous reviews we looked at suggested power is restricted. However, this is not the case. Electricity is on 24/7 (ie all the time). Also, you can pay at the Resort using credit card. We really enjoyed our stay at the Resort. The place does a simple but tasty breakfast. The meals we had were good. The fruit smoothies are delicious. There are 4 or 5 very nice natured friendly dogs that spend some of their time at the Resort. It was lovely watching them playing with and chasing each other up and down the beach in the morning. A couple of them sun baked with us on our verandah. We paid PNP 1,500 for a private boat to take us from Panglao Pier to the Resort; and the same amount again to go from the Resort back to Panglao Pier. We are lousy at bargaining and someone more competent may be able to get the price down lower. I re
