After all these years of coming here, Haadtien is still awesome. Club is not as good as the old part though (less posh) and ruined the eastern part of the beach. On the other hand, food improved significantly and wifi is super fast.
Getting Away From It All”
Beach Club by Haadtien is a perfect resort for those who want to get away from it all and do absolutely nothing but relax by a beautiful beach. Beach is clean, water in the bay is clear, and there are fish, coral, and sea turtles to see when snorkeling & kayaking. There is a scuba diving school, but few onsite activities and events to distract from relaxing. There are snorkeling, diving, and fishing tours run by tour operators in the main town near the ferry pier. There are a very limited number of daily guest shuttles into the town provided by the resort. Taxis are on call, but high priced. Tour operators pick up at the hotel for free. Main restaurant and bar have good selection of well prepared food. Most food prices are similar to or slightly below my experience at self-contained resorts. A few minor service glitches, but friendly staff responded quickly to correct problems. For guests with health problems or out of shape, avoid rooms 341-352. Many flights of stairs, no elevator.
The room is most comfotable and very clean. All staffs were professional and pleasant. Only thing disappointed was the free shuttle was full when we tried to reserve the seat to the pier in the evening on our first day check-in.
Hard one to review . The location is amazing , the resort is very good , beautiful rooms and very friendly staff. We chose ocean view which is on the top floor ,amazing views but a lot of steps to get to it . That said we are both in our mid fifties and not the fittest and we didn’t find the steps an issue . Our biggest issue was the price of the food ,you must pay more than double compared to the rest of Koh Tao, a small chiang 120 baht and here’s the issue on top of that you have to pay an extra 10% service charge and 7% tourist ,Unfortunately because the resort owns the beach there is no competition. They do provide a free ride to mae Haad at various times of the day but if like us after 7 days in Sairee we wanted a bit of peace and quiet , which we got . We just didn’t wanted to go back to Mae Haad for cheaper food and drinks. To be fair the food was very good it’s a pity they can’t absorb the stealth tax like other resorts .Could also do with a mini mart selling essentials.
An amazing time at Haad Tien! Recommended! ”
Myself, my husband, mom and granny (81 years) went for a few days and experienced amazing thai hospitality and true beauty. We certainly reccomend this hotel, if you want to have an amazing time at one of the most beautiful hotels on the island. Pro’s - Most beautiful beach ( i live in thailand and this is really a nice beach ), amazing clear water and you can just walk in and start snorkeling with loads of sea life. - Rooms are well equipped and cosy. - Staff was exteremly helpful, always smiling and ready to help especially with my granny. - Restaurant food was really good and not too pricey. Cons - The shuttle service that goes into town at 8:30, 14:00, 18:30 was good, but it only comes back at 19:15 and 22:00 which I thought was a bit long and then you have to get a taxi at 400 baht back when you go in the morning. Also, the shuttle can take you to Sariee beach at 50baht extra but they dont pick you back up there and its 500 baht to get a taxi back.
Great spot ”
Hotel has amazing space and facilities Very nice pools and view to the beach Rooms really well decorated and food in the restaurant nice Be aware that if you stay in the beach club side, the breakfast is separated from the main one and ridiculously poor! Not even scrambled eggs are served! No one tells you there is a difference in breakfast and clearly not what you expect from a hotel of this quality
This little gem can be found off the beaten path which is a welcomed sanctuary from all the hustle and bustle of the centre. Free shuttles operate at various points in the day if you want to explore the activity in the area, most tours will collect you from the hotel, if not, there is always the option of hiring a motorbike or scooter (be warned the journey to and from hotel is quite dangerous so this is a good option for those confident). Before you book note: that the sea balcony and ocean balcony rooms are set back from the beach and the 'beach' balcony room (although pictured on the beach in online advertising) is in fact NOT on the beach, but rather the closet building to the beach; there are no rooms actually on the beach unless you book with their sister hotel and stay in one of their more expensive beach bungalows. Ask for top floor room for best view. Overall staff were friendly, facilities were quite good, incredible breakfast buffet selection and the beach was amazing!
a great hotel with a lovely beach. they provide shuttle to the city - but if you travel with a toddler like we did then the timetable is not good enough, so expect to be there most of the time. the food is ok, but very overpriced because it's basiclly the only option on that beach. we took the room with a balcony to the beach and the view each morning was amazing. i would suggest to spend some more dollars and take a bongallow near the beach to save the walking time (3-5 minuets)
Spectacular beauty on a sunny day”
We could not fault our stay at this resort. The staff were professional and always welcoming with smiles and courtesy. Lydia at reception was so helpful and lovely Check in was a breeze down at the ferry pier on arrival. Breakfast was delicious with a generous variety of Thai and western food. Beach has lovely fine white sand with shady trees. Resort has yellow umbrellas which pop with turquoise clear water and fabulous coconut palms...very unique. Our room was Beach Balcony so not as many steps to climb, great to look down the beach and out towards Ang Thong National Park. Can't believe others have had such bad experience here, we thought it was bliss. Downside is the coral is all bleached and broken, but take a boat trip around the island and snorkel in beautiful deep bays with plenty of colourful fish and corals. Food and drinks are expensive but have good sized breakfast. Pizzas are very good and 1 is enough for 2. We'll definitely be back as the scenery is gorgeous! 🌴🐠🐾
Lots of impressive things about this place but I agree with some of the other reviews. It's a bit confusing having 2 hotels pretty much integrated but you don't know which resort is which until you get kicked out of certain areas. Drinks at bar were not to my taste. For the price, I would have expected more. Def need to consider renting a scooter if you want to get around town. Really close to shark bay where we snorkeled with a shark.
Nice and luxury hotel”
This hotel is very nice and private on its own beach. Has a small lovely swimming pool. Services are great. Breakfast too few options for this range of high quality hotel. Very good overall, except the facilities like kayak need to be rent for 300-400 baht per hour.
Amazing beach but staff needs work”
As we checked in a cockroach and geckos were in our room to greet us... which we were given bug spray to handle ourselves. Interesting but not the worst. The bed is hard as a rock... my spouse and I woke up in pain throughout the nights. Staff at Capri restaurant was non existent when it came to service... would of expected much more from such a new and beautiful resort. But the beach made the price worth it! We won’t be coming back but it’s worth a look if you have extra $$ and don’t mind a HARD bed.
Private beach Resort”
Its quite a big resort. FOC pick up at pier and the road to resort was challenging. Need a walking distance to room or to beach or to pool. There is a pool surrounded with coconut tree. Relaxing moment in the resort. There is shuttle bus for going out pier during day & night time. However, you could actually spend a whole day in the resort.
I booked the hotel with high season price (new year period) and non-refundable condition but unfortunately the storm hit Koh Tao that day. They changed my booking uncharged and accepted my upgrade request. That was very kind. The best things are service of staffs and breakfast. The location is not good as we expected because of monsoon but the design and climate of the hotel can make you feel relax. I like the shuttle bus service here, you don’t have to pay for any taxi service in the island.
The beach and the sea is amazing ”
Pros: it is a great resort in a beautiful place, perfect for quiet, relaxing holidays. Good for snorkling. Cons: I personally did not like the food there, ordered twice for lunch and dinner and both times the meal was not that great. The drinks were ok though. Both pools are shallow and quite small, although the sea compensates it all.
Lovely hotel in beautiful area”
Hotel rooms were good size and very clean! Pool and beach were both lovely and had 2 very nice restaurants. Only down fall is the service is very slow and they add 10% service charge and 7% VAT to everything. The food itself isn’t too exspensive and is very nice! overall would definitely stay again as is a perfect place to relax, we wish our stay was longer!
Good beach ”
Good for 3 night stay, standard rooms too small and bathroom even smaller.Food was great but a little overpriced. We weren't allowed to take shampoo bottles as most resort will let you.drinks super expensive but Rockys resort is next door and drinks half the price. Overall nice resort on a hill ,right at shark bay beach.
Beautiful hotel located at the most beautiful bay of Koh Tao. Great for snorkeling. Nice rooms and helpful staff. Pool, beach and breakfast are great as well . We stayed 4 nights, but would have liked to stay there a little bit longer.
Stunning Christmas vacation ”
Wow, this hotel has it all! We were worried about being abroad for Christmas but this hotel catered for everything. The beach is absolutely stunning as is the infinity pool over looking the trees. The rooms were very pleasant and were cleaned everyday. As for restaurants there are 3 (including the beach bar) great places to eat with a variety of food at very affordable prices. The happy hours are so great! Additionally, the Christmas gala dinner was spectacular. We rented snorkels with Reef, the dicing centre and went scuba diving for very cheap! It was so great! All staff were so lovely but my only criticism is survive is pretty slow! Other than that, 100% recommend or couples/ families/ travellers.
Look no further. Book Now!”
For sure the best hotel (I.e. Best value for money) we had on our trip in South East Asia. Haad Tien may be a bit more expensive than other hotels but keep in mind that shuttle service is free, breakfast is amazing, you can go snorkelling directly from the beach (at other hotels you will have to pay extra for all of that) Beautiful beach, great Wifi (streaming quality), super-friendly staff.
