Central Business District hotels & places to stay

We booked this hotel based on the reputation of Best Western Hotels. Since we had never been to Nairobi, we had no idea where the hotel is located. Although our late night taxi drive from the airport to the hotel did take us through a sketchy are of downtown Nairobi, at no time did we feel unsafe. And when we arrived at the Best Western Meridian Plus, the extensive security and lighting allied any second thoughts we were having. Once inside, this hotel was as good, if not better, than any of the Best Westerns we have previously stayed in. Their included breakfast was not just continental, but a full service buffet. I would also mention the hotel is only minutes away, by cab, to the Nairobi Museum of Natural History. The Museum is worth at least a full morning of your time!

I was very happy to stay at Norfolk because it was perfect situated in quiet area and close to everything, walking distance to National Museum, University and Restaurants in Westland. The pool area could be more five star..........I would give 3 star there. The menue in Restaurants are good but for vegetarian like I am not so much option. Also here could be more five star I would give also 3 star in choice of menu. But staff are extremely lovable and helpful and do real the best they can. Small things are every where happen but at all I loved to be there very much and will return.

Hotel is good for the price but location is too crowded with lots of buses and mini vans clogging the streets all the time. Overall, hotel is value for money.

My first time. Always wanted to stay there due to the historical significance. I used the airport transfer which was greatly appreciated, and very efficient. They picked me up in a Mercedes sedan! 30 dollars. Bargain compared to chancing a taxi or other dodgy. The hotel is very nice. Rooms have been updated recently, but still maintain the historic feel. Room was large and comfortable. Staff is fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. The only challenge is the central business district is not so safe anymore, so you can not go for an evening stroll. But they have a gym... Thorn Tree Cafe is great, also historic. This was Hemingway's hangout. Give it a try!

Rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was included in our room price and was OK. Be aware that the hotel doesn't have elevators. Hotels organized airport pick up and arranges for drivers/taxis. Despite being located close to high traffic road, the room was surprisingly quiet. Great place to stay a night or two

The staff are friendly and obliging. Nothing is to much trouble.. The grounds present well and the hotel is very clean. Thanks for a great stay.

Ok hotel, but over priced. Interiors are broken and not up to a resonable standard. When we checked in they were fully booked so we we’re placed in a Studi when had paid for a Suite, complained and really no response. But at midnight when coming back from dinner and the bed sofa where to be made out we were relocated to a double bed room. So then there was a room for us. Staff is very professional and helpful, we understand that they were fully booked. Got claim from Agoda, excellent service. Gym and pool area is ok. Breakfast ok and standard. Dinner was very good.

breakfast is just so so, but waiter service is good.location is very good for business ,also easily for shopping,taking taxi,good restaurant around hotel, ATM machinery is available just opposite the hotel.

It was pleasant the second time,, except there was no hot water to speak of and for $120 a night we expected more. Staff was congenial and very helpful. /food was good and reasonably priced. it was in a central area for sight seeing and shopping.

Food is great but expensive for the overall condition of the facility. Hotel is located in Central Business District- a very populated area. Expect to hear street shouting, small fights beside the road, and possible petty crime.

Stayed for one night before traveling on. Enjoyed my meal of fish in coconut with ugali. Nice view of the Nairobi skyline from the bar/restaurant. Typical design for Kenyan hotels with the rooms facing into a central courtyard so good security but could be noisy depending on other guests (wasn't noisy when I was there).

perfect place to stay if you have a high tolerance for noise. on weekends through monday at 4am, extremely loud music coming from nearby restaurant. you can hear the noise from any room. the smell from the kitchen permeates the enclosed courtyard where all rooms face. the location claims that it's in the central business district (cbd) which it's not. surrounding area is not safe at night. they charge extra for tv though they advertise that it's included. if you still insist on staying here, request for a mosquito net so you don't get eaten alive by the resident mosquitos!

We only stayed one night before the start of our tour. We had booked a supreme double room but got a standard twin room. Accommodation is very basic but meets the standard of a two star hotel. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends as they like a higher standard of accommodation whereas we were okay with this since we were about to start a tour of camping through Kenya and Tanzania.

at eron we got great value for my money. The staff where so kindnot forgetting the manager Franco Wandabwa who was so willing to compromise anything for the comfort of th client. The girls at the recieption, and all th security when extremely helpful. He hotel is a very budget friendly place and the meals are great. We felt at him and would definitely go back.its in the middle of tow which is said not to be a very safe place but it has tight security so at the hotel, you would worry about nothing although being in the center would mean that moving at night oil don't be so safe for family with children. Although the kind manager Franco would warn you about these facts. Also the location was convenient for us to access any place in to. By foot or by matatu. We would easily walk back to our hotel.it sure is a place to be , plus e hot water and fast wifi.i just can't thank the staff enough . Asante and I will sure return

Pros: There is a lift so one does not have to climb up the stairs with their luggage. The room comes with a fridge (though does not seem to be on/working), a kitchen table top with basin/sink but short on a stove or microwave to cook. Place is clean and staff are helpful. The building (shared with other businesses) has security guards that require visitors to sign in (only once for hotel guests). Cons: The hotel is not in the Central Business District. A big vehicle garage/repair park is just behind the hotel. The entrance is small and not very visible but it appears to be known to taxi/tour agency drivers. Depending on where is your room located, the main street at the entrance can be noisy in the day but quieter at night. Walkable from city centre in the day but it requires having to cross heavy traffic and crowds, especially around/through a bus station. Advise not to walk in the neighbourhood after dark. For such a location, the pricing could be better.

The staff too good and very very helpful.The warmth and the security given..feel at home. though in a crowded area, inside it is peaceful and quiet. always a smile on all staff and ready to help and solve issues. in short..value for money and worth

It is located at central Business district. The room was good. Noise from nearby bus stand will keep coming whole night.
