Chaweng Noi sits immediately south of popular Chaweng Beach. It’s part of Koh Samui’s most commercial and successful districts, and it has recently been revitalized. Hotels in Chaweng Noi are relatively new, and they include plenty of upper mid-range options suitable for families and travelers who would like to escape the budget and backpacker scene of Chaweng proper.
Chaweng Noi beach has plenty of the powdery white sand that has helped make Koh Samui such a popular resort destination. This area is cut off from Chaweng Beach by a small headland, and guests of local hotels can easily walk to the bars, shops and discos to the north. There are no roads leading directly to the beach, so most of the people relaxing here are guests of Chaweng Noi hotels.
There are still plenty of seafood restaurants and bars here behind and between the hotels. The commercial strip that begins at Chaweng Beach continues here. Guests enjoy an hour or two of relative solitude early in the morning before the jet skis, vendors and masseurs set up for the day. With that in mind, hotels in Chaweng Noi are best suited for tourists who want to stay busy while visiting Samui, though the beach here is still quieter than its northern counterpart. Guests of this area can live on the fringes of the excitement to the north without being overwhelmed.
