Nice Little Apartment in an Outer Suburb”
Comfortable Bed, Good Value, Nice Owners
This is a little apartment in the back of a building in the town of Lachine, which is an outer suburban area of Montreal. The room comes with coffee, tea, milk, and some water as well as any and all appliances you would need to cook food for yourself if you desired to do so. Being from America, I could drink the tap water just fine, but they included a couple bottles of water anyway--which was nice. The owners will also do your laundry for you, if you ask them, free of charge. Parking in the vicinity is included as well if you have a vehicle. The apartment is near (within walking distance of) a local grocery store, gas station, and some restaurants and convenience stores. However, without a vehicle of your own I would not say this location is convenient for seeing Montreal. It's a simple drive to the heart of Montreal that takes perhaps 20-25 minutes without much traffic, and getting back is only slightly more difficult because the road you take there becomes one-way eventually. Otherwise, you can take the bus, but it does not come that often and takes much longer. Taxis are always an option too, but expensive when you could simply get a room within walking distance of downtown. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would return here again, but only because I have my own vehicle and would be taking a road trip most likely. I would compare the feeling of this place to staying at your friend's apartment while they are out of town. The place was a residence for many years and thus has all of the trappings of one. It is very quiet and cozy, though the furnishings reminded me more of my grandma's house than something modern that younger guests may be used to. The bed is a good size, queen I think, and the furniture is all comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen may be a boon to some as well. If you do not have your own vehicle or do not plan to rent a car though, I would consider a place closer to downtown.
