Small island province in Philippines that has few people and few tourists (due to expensive flights probably) but majestic sights of nature, which can be compared to new zealand.
Province is very peaceful and almost zero crime rate. Can tour North Batanes, South Batanes by land on standard rates, and go to other islands like Sabtang which can be toured for a day. And Itbayat which may require spending 1-2 days.
Basco is overrated. I expected more but was kind of disappointed with the limited things available to tourists.
With all the hype I've heard about the place, it surely did not live up to our expectations. Tours are generally over by 3 or 4 pm. After which, there is nothing else to do. I would recommend this place to those who specifically need to be alone.
Batanes is a very nice place to visit and I would definitely love to come back. This place is very quiet and peaceful.
The people are very friendly, honest and polite. If you are into nature and adventure trips, this is definitely the place for you. Food also are very delicious and not costly. Here you can taste fresh seafoods at a lower price, try to visit Pension Ivatan for their infamous Ivatan platter and also dine at Bunker's Hill but be sure to ask your tourguide for reservation at this place are always full. The are lots of places where you can stay which is very cheap, as they entertain homestays wherein you can stay with the families by renting their rooms. The only problem here is the airfare which is very expensive unless you can get a great deal in Travel Expo and airline sales. Only two airlines are flying directly from Manila to Basco which is PAL and Sky Jet.
