Basel hotels & places to stay

Traveled via train from Zurich to Basel. Hotel was right across the street from the station, but never heard any train noise in the room. Free Basel card given by hotel that got us free transport around city and discount for museum and city tour. Delicious breakfast included. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We checked into the hotel just for an overnight stay as we were passing through Basel and only had 1 day to spend there. When checking in the lady at reception (Farah) was amazingly helpful with everything. I have to say Farah went out of her way to make us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. She even told us that the hotel had an extra stroller which we could borrow for when we went exploring Basel, this came is very handy with our Daughter as we were walking around alot the next day. Cannot recommend enough.

Very modern hotel in good location ( a few tram stops to the centre). Most comfortable hotel bed I have ever experienced and very good buffet breakfast included in the modest room price. Staff were exceptionally helpful and all amenities were excellent. In short you will not find better for the price in Basel.

I like the contemporary design, clean room and fantastic breakfast. The staff was really friendly and allow me to check in the room when I reached 8am in the morning (right before my meeting) so I can refresh myself before my meeting. The food choices in the restaurant is few through.

The building is actually the university, surrounded by park, and 30 some rooms are made into hotel rooms. Spacious and clean. BUT! They do not have air conditioner. Outside was about 65 degrees and already it was too warm in the room. Location is perfect, 3 min walk through this beatiful gate to old town. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants within 5 min walk. we went there for breakfast, Hotel charged 22.5 SF for breakfast per person.😳 Sraff is very friendly and accommodating.We were given free passes for public transport and we used it every day, There is a big department store near Market Square, and on the top floor they have nice restaurant with lots of choices. Beatiful interior and very good food. Also rather reasonable. Train Station is 3 stops away on bus number 30. Right there you will find tourist info office. Zurich and Lucern is only one hour away. From Train station you can take tram number 8 and in about 10 min it will bring you to Market Square. Those free passes were great to have, we love to walk, but it is hard to be on your feet the whole day. Tram 16 goes through whole city,, you can see different neighborhoods of Basel. We loved our stay in Basel.

Arriving at Basel Station, this Hotel is easily reached up footsteps at the end of platform 16/17 and then turning left on the bridge. Even better, there are tram-stops opposite the Hotel which link you to the city centre and the outlying hilly areas of Basel, the complimentary travel card meaning you can visit them as much as you like during your stay. It was lovely to return each day in late July from the outside heat to an air-conditioned room and have a refreshing shower before dropping off to sleep on the comfortable bed. Building works were going on outside the room but the double glazing meant there was no disturbance.

Everything was good except the AC was not working The breakfast was limited no many options

The hotel stays directly at the Rhein and has a nice view. It is really Central. The longest way i took to get anywhere in Basel needed only about 30 min.

Is was a nice cosy hotel with modern design fitting. Room was not big but comfortable for 1 person stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is recommended for business travel or vacation stay in Basel.

Clean and nice hotel! The location is great, can take trams in front of hotel. Few mins walking to bridge and old town, have Supermarkt nearby. Will choose the same hotel next time!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Victoria in Basel. Nicholas checked us in quickly and were very efficient and helpful. The new room we stayed in was superb and the hotel was perfectly located across the station, for us. There is also a tram station just across the road which can take you to the city centre and the historic town in no time. The hotel even provided us with complimentary public transport tickets to use during our stay. The breakfast was one of the best buffets we have had before in Europe. We can definitely recommend staying at the Hotel Victoria.

I'm happy in stay in dorint hotel. The location is good but if you come from euroairport you have to take bus no 50 and then change to bus no 30 ( chamge at basel train station) but there is many way to go to hotel. This way i choose the bus stop is opposite to each other and the shortest walk. If u come with big luggage this is the best way. For the dorint hotel, a little bit noisy it facing the road, but not so much. There is no air conditioner in room, in summer you will feel heating. The restroom is tiny but not feel crowded. Overall I like this hotel.

Stay at this hotel when you're in Basel! It's a clean boutique hotel with a modern interior. What you get is worth much more than what you pay. The staff are friendly and helpful. They go above and beyond at this hotel. The rooms were bright and clean. Stay in the corner room by the Spalentor gate to get the best view through windows on two walls. The breakfast is reasonably priced and it is good quality, especially when considering what else is available elsewhere throughout the country.

I only stayed for 1 night because I'm just passing by for my business trip. I recommend for tourist to stay here. A lot of freebies included free ticket for the public transport including ferry ride. Unfortunately I have no time to use it.

The apartments are located close to the tram stop on Riehenring (literally at the doorstep) & a bus stop at the adjacent street (<3 min walk away). They are close close to the convention centre & theatre. Closest shops are along Clarastrasse, ~5min walk away. Basel is a pretty small city, with a good transport network, so with a tram & bus stop close-by, you can pretty much go anywhere easily. The reception is located at the Hotel du Commerce, ~3 min walk away on Riehenring, & this is where you collect/ return keys, request for items like extra pillows, get maps, etc. The receptionists are very friendly & approachable, especially one lady from South Africa (did not get her name regrettably), & remembered whatever minutiae I requested on the 1st day (ice trays, extra pillows, stand-fan since it was very hot & there is no air-conditioning). It has a kitchenette with fridge, cooking facilities (did not use them) & daily cleaning. A washing machine & dryer are located in the stairwell which is shared by all the guests. The elevator serves every floor which is a good thing if you have heavy luggage. The pillows are soft & mushy, but I found that most Swiss hotels (those I stayed in Zurich & Lauterbrunnen) tended to have these kind of mushy pillows. There is some traffic noise, but the surounding roads are not very busy, so it was tolerable.

so high price with bad service, no breakfast,no wifi, no service of cleaning the room, even more the staff is very rude to the custome,you can not even image staff use your money via your credit card without your permission

Small and quiet but centrally located. It was a 5 minute walk to one of the central squares in Basel, Barfussplatz. I loved it because it felt like staying in someone's home vs a large hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Hotel facilities all in good condition. Easy get public transport due to nice location. Friendly receptionist

Our apartment was very clean and quiet. It was a short tram ride from the main station and from the old town. Staff were very helpful.

This hotel is in a very good location, close to the zoo, not far from the station and close to the city. The service is good. They adapted well to the fact the more people arrived than what we had originally planned. The breakfast is nice.

The location is near bus and tram station. The staffs are so nice and having service-minded. I suggest this apartment for those come to Basel as a group. Best apartment!

The apartment was secure, spacious, well appointed and clean. The bed was comfortable. Maria was very helpful with advice and organised our taxi on departure. There is a 'Coffee to go' shop with pretzels over the street and a lovely Italian restaurant next door. Lots of nice shops in the vicinity and a Coop nearby for groceries and supplies. We were on the fourth floor and had the window open so there was some happy chatter coming from below and one night we could hear a choir practising from the church behind us, which was lovely. But all was quiet late at night. A very pleasant two days.

This is a vey comfortable place to say. It's very close to the SBB Railway Station and to a tram line that is only one stop from the station and the centre of the city. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and very kindly helped me with my transportation queries. The apartment is in a quiet residential area but there are shops and restaurants very close by. Just one tip - the taxis from the airport are very expensive. 50 Swiss Frances for what is basically a 12 minute journey. You are far better off taking to the bus to the SBB and then a tram - the apartment is 3 mins walk from tram stop. (Aeschenplatz)

Host very helpful, kind and friendly. Apartment room is very big, clean and quiet. I recommend for everyone will go to basel.
