I love everything about Batam..from the food, entertainment, shopping & also the people who are very friendly.
Batam is a place for relaxation and shopping. There is a few places u can visit. 1 of it is a spa secret in nagoya area.
A vibrant city with lots of nice restaurant and cafe to choose and not forgeting the local Indonesian dishes .
Try to bargain with taxi drivers on the costs first. Decide well and plan where you need to go and the cost.
for short trip it was ok. a bit expensive staying here rather than being in jakarta or bandung which is waaaaaaayyyyy much better.
It is like Johor Bahr but cheaper. If you enjoy cheaper groceries, massage, Malay food. A short and cheap getaway.
Beware of the taxi driver. They will offered high price per trip. So it will be better to find cab with meter rather than negotiating a price.
This Batam Island is a place where everyone must visit to relax and have great spa service at cheap price.
Massage in Batam is cheap and good! If looking for seafood, can try Harbour Bay - Wey Wey 1 Restaurant.
Great and affordable holiday trips for families with young children, great romance for couples and solo traveler looking for mood and change of environment.
If you are a non-smokers, we highly recommend you not to go Batam. Almost everyone there is smokers! And they smoke like hell.
An undeveloped island with shopping centre springing up here and there mainly for the tourist money, especially from Singapore.
The few shopping centers that must go for shopping are Batam Center Mall, Nagoya Megamall, Batam City Square Mall.
Safe Island to travel to. Avoid late night as recently many young motorists have been trying to rob ladies especially of their handbags.
A good place for a short getaway for those with a budget. Go for the massage as its much cheaper than Singapore and Malaysia.
Nice and friendly ppl, despite not all you can trust but majority are. What more I can say is massage.
Many shopping malls, great seafood and good massages can be found in Batam. There is Penuin market where you can get local titbits, wholesale items like bags, socks, hair accessories, pedi/manicure items, etc.
Batam is nice to go shopping. Prices are good, especially for electronics and gadgets. branded bags are plenty but we do not know which ones are originals and which ones are not.
A place to really chill and relax day by day. Dont feel like going back home due to the cheap living life here.
Surprisingly dirty and backward still in the city area despite years of tourism and the subsequent number of visitors each year.
I came with my hubby who had spinal injury and he walks very slowly & needs my aid most of the time. I also brought along my 8yo & 4yo boys together with my husband's friends (3 adults including 60-70yr old lady, 2 kids- 4yo girl & 1 yo boy) for this short getaway.
If you are there for shopping, 1-2 nights will be sufficient. If you want to go for spa, then another day would do.
Its a well-developed place close to Singapore. Relatively cheaper and is the ideal short-getaway for relaxation and food.
Visitors can consider go Batam Center or Nagoya for short trip. There are plenty of hotels, Spas and shopping malls.
This small island offers many services to satisfy you from head to toe. You can do your hair at Nagoya Shopping malls, body massage at Nagoya area, good food in most of the area and beauty services like pedi and mani.
noting much to see .went to the indian temple , look like any other temple in singapore and malaysya .
Nice place to relax, living costs are low. If more inhabitants can communicate with English will be more attractive.
Modern facilities are available now and more hotels coming up...Can't wait for Aston Batam to be fully completed.
Sin City and will avoid going back again!! Everything is excessively expesnive!! Better to remain and spend the money in Singapore or if not, proceed to Phuket Island / Thailand
Easy access to most areas around Nagoya Shopping Mall area. You can consider walking and avoid people calling you to take "Taxi" or "Ojek"! Depends where you plan to go to.
