Marino Beach Colombo
Colpetty,Colombo - View on map
"The people of Sri Lanka are very nice and welcoming in general, they are honest and friendly. The staffs of Marino beach Colombo are no different. They are very nice, kind and guest-friendly. The female receptionist and others were very kind to give us a room with a better view of the sea upon request. The room and everything else is neat and clean. Nice bathroom fittings with an automated blind curtain. The room has a touch of aesthetics to make anyone’s stay here a memorable experience. On top of that, guests here get unlimited access to the infinity pool, garden, and Jacuzzi. The Food Emporium and Marino Mall with the VR Park can make life easy, especially if you are traveling with kids. The food emporium has excellent Local, Indian, Western food. Price of food is reasonable. Also, the view of the sea is excellent from there. You can smoke at the pool, at the balcony of your hotel room, and at the restaurants of the food emporium. Do taste the tea in the restaurant. It’s excellent!"

The Steuart by Citrus
Colombo World Trade Centre,Colombo - View on map
"After traveling around Sri Lanka for 9 days, we returned to Colombo to stay for 1 weekend. Hotel location is great as it is in the business and hotel area of the city, not a far walk to Galle Face Green which is a nice strip of public lawn along the ocean front. The hotel is just across the Dutch Hospital commercial complex with shops, spas, restaurants and cafes. It is also a walking distance to Colombo main train station and bustling commercial market neighborhood. The hotel is quite quirky with an overall Scottish theme. Room very spacious and view of government buildings. Bathroom is spacious, modern and clean. Only one set back was the shower door that wouldn't close properly so had leaking water onto the dry area. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Our flight was late in the night on Sunday, so paid for another half day to enjoy a full warm sunny day in Colombo and to get cleaned up in the evening before airport. Also asked the hotel to arrange an airport taxi which worked out well. Great ending to our Sri Lanka trip. Will recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Colombo."

Galle Face Hotel

"On my last night in Sri Lanka, I chose not to be a backpacker. I couldn't say no to this lovely and elegant heritage hotel in Colombo. I wish I could have stayed longer. The staff were great. Check-in/out was seamless and they have a welcome tea drink. Breakfast was lovely. And the dining/pool area is one of the best areas in the hotel. It's a historic hotel with a couple of celebrity guests in the past like Mark Twain, Yuri Gagarin, Mahatma Gandhi, Roger Moore, Carrie Fisher, John D. Rockefeller, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford!"

Hotel Sapphire
Wellawatte,Colombo - View on map
"This hotel is located somewhat south of Colombo city but is well known. The hotel is showing it's age a bit but the staff cannot be faulted. The rooms are spacious and well air conditioned. There is a room safe. The pool is great and well maintained and cleaned. There is a fridge and coffee making facilities. The buffet breakfast is very good. The front doorman is a fantastic asset to the hotel and knows everything whilst being extremely courteous. This hotel is a great escape from the hectic life of Colombo but has a lot of shops around it. If you walk down to the beach and get to Wellawatta train station the ride to Mount Lavinia is only $US0.07. There you can walk through the historic hotel and have a swim at a good beach. There are slums to see on the way which made us pretty sad. Altogether, Hotel Sapphire is a very good value hotel without the over-the-top prices of some of the others."

The Kingsbury Colombo
Colombo World Trade Centre,Colombo - View on map
"Excellent hotel with friendly staff, extremely comfortable rooms and a great selection of bars and restaurants. I am a regular visitor to Sri Lanka as I have family in Colombo and have stayed in pretty much all of the "better" Colombo hotels at some point in the last couple of years. I would thoroughly recommend The Kingsbury - It is a very versatile hotel appropriate for various types of travellers. The rooms have a luxurious but homely feel, with seriously comfortable beds and pillows! A drink in the Sky bar is a must even if you aren't a resident. The breakfast choice and quality was pretty much the best I've experienced in Sri Lanka. I would also recommend the foyer coffee shop - A bit crowded at times but the cakes and chocs are lovely and well priced for the quality. Overall, an excellent hotel that I will most definitely be returning to! "

Juliana Hotel
Colpetty,Colombo - View on map
"I have stayed at the Juliana on several occasions and find it has been improving steadily. At present, August 2019 - there is little tourism in Sri Lanka. The Juliana has upgraded the rooms. The coffee shop is excellent. The location cannot be beaten. Walk out and grab a bus, or a tuk. I recommend Pick Me. City Center is close, the National Museum, City Hall, Galle Face and even Petah is within reasonable walking distance. Great restaurants are close. I feel safe in the Juliana. The staff is courteous and always ready to help."

Global Towers Hotel & Apartments
Colombo Wellawatte beach,Colombo - View on map
"Highly recommended location for a good price. Reasonably clean but hotel management can, with only a very small effort, keep it superbly clean given that it is a new building. Service is prompt and warmth typical of Sri Lankans is evident in the reception and handling of guests. Rooms are small by Asian standards but there is masive wastage of common areas which could be done up and, with a bit of guest management, limited bed space could be compensated for largeish groups. We were a group of three families whose rooms were scattered. Common area facilities of the apartments were not accesible and not well-equipped. We did not sample the entire food menu and restricted ourselves to breakfast buffet since Colombo has many well-known food spots. "

Cinnamon Red Colombo
Cinnamon Gardens,Colombo - View on map
"We were very bluffed by the amazing view we got from our room and from the rooftop bar. I suspect this view will not last as another skyscraper is in progress of building just next to it. The hotel deco is a little bit too "red" and the staff said they are aiming for "funky" look. It is refreshing to have a very modern hotel in Colombo but I am a bit sceptic that it might go out of style and I would recommend that they constantly improve their deco. Regarding the breakfast, it was very good but nothing social from any other hotels apart from a good coffee machine in the breakfast hall, where hotels only serve filtered coffee. I thought it was great as good coffee is hard to find in Colombo. We were very lucky as the hotel just opened and the rooms were soooo comfortable. Better than many five star hotels in Colombo that are unfortunately a bit dated. The staff was very friendly and asking for feedbacks as they just opened and I found that was a very good touch and showing how much they want to improve. I was a bit disappointed in the rooftop bar, the place is amazing but the service was very bad, we had to wait a long time for our drinks to be served, we ordered some nibbles that took a long time and that we're very cold and not tasty at all. Imagine fried pepper and salt calamari ee completely cold, it was awful! Overall, the hotel is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable, the staff in he hotel was friendly and the coffe from the machine in the breakfast hall was good. The negative points were a deco that is not the taste of everyone, a very bad rooftop bar service, especially when it's so expensive. Great great view of Colombo, the best I have ever seen. "

ME Colombo
Havelock Town,Colombo - View on map
"Modern hotel a little way out from the centre but with excellent views over the city from the top floor infinity pool which was a delight for an early evening dip.The hotel overlooks the Colombo Colts cricket club where any number of the top Sri Lanka cricketers have played in their time. Breakfast was excellent as to quantity and quality as was dinner but there is no liquor licence so no way to celebrate our last night in Colombo. Room was well equipped and functional. All in all an easy thing to recommend ME."

Galadari Hotel
Colombo World Trade Centre,Colombo - View on map
"We spent 10 days in Sri Lanka and stayed in Galadari for 7 days (they could not give us extension for last 2 days). The hotel is good and we will recommend the place to anyone who is going. Location is superb, with view of Marine Drive and President Palace. The buffet Breakfast provided by the hotel as a part of the rate has wide choice and good food - very good option for a tourist as you do not know where and what lunch you will have. The hotel is a little old and needs renovation, but the rooms we got gave us no room for complaint. The hotel has been taken over by new owners who are waiting for the end of the civil war to start renovation. Transport cost in Colombo is high. The hotel unfortunately has no free pick up service from Airport, but does provide a paid cab facility on request. The staff are helpful and properly trained. The service levels were also good. The management prides its self on service and uses it as a marketing tool to offset lack of renovation. "
