Traveling to Sri Lanka? Find Colombo hotels

We were very bluffed by the amazing view we got from our room and from the rooftop bar. I suspect this view will not last as another skyscraper is in progress of building just next to it. The hotel deco is a little bit too "red" and the staff said they are aiming for "funky" look. It is refreshing to have a very modern hotel in Colombo but I am a bit sceptic that it might go out of style and I would recommend that they constantly improve their deco. Regarding the breakfast, it was very good but nothing social from any other hotels apart from a good coffee machine in the breakfast hall, where hotels only serve filtered coffee. I thought it was great as good coffee is hard to find in Colombo. We were very lucky as the hotel just opened and the rooms were soooo comfortable. Better than many five star hotels in Colombo that are unfortunately a bit dated. The staff was very friendly and asking for feedbacks as they just opened and I found that was a very good touch and showing how much they want to improve. I was a bit disappointed in the rooftop bar, the place is amazing but the service was very bad, we had to wait a long time for our drinks to be served, we ordered some nibbles that took a long time and that we're very cold and not tasty at all. Imagine fried pepper and salt calamari ee completely cold, it was awful! Overall, the hotel is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable, the staff in he hotel was friendly and the coffe from the machine in the breakfast hall was good. The negative points were a deco that is not the taste of everyone, a very bad rooftop bar service, especially when it's so expensive. Great great view of Colombo, the best I have ever seen.

Ramada Colombo Hotel deserves more than 4 stars. It's in a great location with extremely easy access to Tuks 24/7. The Lobby is beautiful, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and the pool side is very relaxing. Overall Amazing hotel and an Amazing stay. Would definitely recommend it to anyone searching.

Excellent hotel with friendly staff, extremely comfortable rooms and a great selection of bars and restaurants. I am a regular visitor to Sri Lanka as I have family in Colombo and have stayed in pretty much all of the "better" Colombo hotels at some point in the last couple of years. I would thoroughly recommend The Kingsbury - It is a very versatile hotel appropriate for various types of travellers. The rooms have a luxurious but homely feel, with seriously comfortable beds and pillows! A drink in the Sky bar is a must even if you aren't a resident. The breakfast choice and quality was pretty much the best I've experienced in Sri Lanka. I would also recommend the foyer coffee shop - A bit crowded at times but the cakes and chocs are lovely and well priced for the quality. Overall, an excellent hotel that I will most definitely be returning to!

One of the pricier hotels in Colombo but well worth the extra $$ you pay. The deluxe room was neat and sufficiently spacious with a comfortable bed. The hotel even offers a nice choice of pillows which can be requested via room service. The inroom dining menu has a huge variety at decent prices. I've stayed in many hotels in Sri Lanka and the Cinnamon Grand was one of the best. Even though there are less costly options around the area this place is worth the extra money because the level of service and standards they maintain. Staff was friendly and attentive. Even the cleaners could speak decent English. It's a busy hotel in Colombo and is so for a reason. Only negative experience was we were told we can check in early even before 12pm. But after arriving at the hotel at around 1 - 1.30pm we were told that we have to wait for about 10 minutes till the room is fully cleaned and inspected because the hotel was on max capacity. This 10 minutes dragged on for about an hour of waiting. Luckily the hotel is connected to a shopping center where we spent most of that waiting time. And the staff seemed genuinely sorry for the delay. Overall I'd say its a great place to stay with your partner/family if you are after something special and willing to put in the extra $$.

I have stayed in this hotel over and over again. If I travel to COLOMBO and rooms are available this will always be my choice. Why? Becuase they provide a great level of service, FO Manager is one of the most Friendliest Staff I ever met from Sri Lanka. Several times I have requested for late check-out due to my work and business schedule, they never said no and always assisted if rooms are available. Special mention to Receptionist Bhanu, Bell Boys Angelo, Thalipa, and all other Bell Boys can't remember their names. Also the Quality of the Aminities in the Room and Food is considered as good considering the price. Well Done Keep up the Good Work/

Fairway Colombo is the most centrally located hotel I've stayed at in Colombo, right next to Dutch Hospital. It's also within walking distance to Galle Face Green and the Colombo Central Markets. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. I shall certainly stay here again in future. The only oddity I experienced during my stay was that I was assigned an accessible room despite not having requested one nor wanting one. In future, I'd recommend that the hotel staff confirm with the guest whether they require an accessible room at check-in regardless of whether the guest has a disability or not, rather than making assumptions about a guest's needs. And if an accessible room is the only type available then that should be communicated to the guest.

We stayed here our first night before we started our tour. It is clean, nicely furnished and they have all the main requirement for a short stay. It is spacious apartments. We have a toddler and a teenager and they were both comfortable. The TV has nice cartoons and we have Wifi all around in the apartment. It is quite central and a short walk from the beach. The staff was helpful and considerate. We enjoyed our stay the first night and ended up staying for 3 more nights at the end of our tour, simply because it is a perfect and comfortable place to relax and recover from an exhausting trip around Sri Lanka. We also had a chance to cook our own food and took advantage of their swimming pool for the kiddies! I would highly recommend it to families!

What a treat to stay at the Kingsbury Residences, lovely furnishings, quality beds and high end bedding and towelling and exceptional service. We had a very late flight and were allowed to stay well into the afternoon. It made the world of difference to our last day in Colombo. We'd definitely stay here again. Also, a big advantage to have a washing machine and full kitchen when traveling for any length of time.

The stay wad fantastic. We planned to stay 2 nights but stood 4 instead. We were upgraded to Pearl Grand next door, which is a 4 star hotel that was just officially opened this weekend by the Prime Minister. The pool on the rooftop is great though we had no need to use it. The staff was always caring and they gave us the same rate for the additional nights, great service. Concerning Sri Lankan circumstances the breakfast was good. Maybe one of the best hotels in Colombo, especially concerning value for money.

On my last night in Sri Lanka, I chose not to be a backpacker. I couldn't say no to this lovely and elegant heritage hotel in Colombo. I wish I could have stayed longer. The staff were great. Check-in/out was seamless and they have a welcome tea drink. Breakfast was lovely. And the dining/pool area is one of the best areas in the hotel. It's a historic hotel with a couple of celebrity guests in the past like Mark Twain, Yuri Gagarin, Mahatma Gandhi, Roger Moore, Carrie Fisher, John D. Rockefeller, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford!

As a solo female traveller and my first time in Sri Lanka, the staff at Ceylon City Hotel went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable and answered any questions/doubts I had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Colombo, for the price you pay the comfort and convenience is unparalleled. As for location although it isn't as central as can be, tuk tuks are readily available at a low cost to take you anywhere. All in all I loved my stay and my gratitude goes out to the excellent staff.

The stay at Ocean Edge Suites in Colombo is something we are going to remember. I had booked the suite through Agoda a few days earlier, and we had hired a private car with driver from Unawatuna to Colombo. We had problems finding the hotel, nobody seemed to know where it was and I knew for sure something wasn't as it should be, when the fourth person asked me: Do you have a reservation, madam? It turned out that the hotel hadn't opened yet, det opening was delayed due to delay with customs (our booking shouldn't have gone through). So all the things they needed, from linen to kitchen ware, was still in the harbour. They offered us to stay at another hotel, but I think I was a bit difficult and wanted to stay at Ocean Edge. And I must say they were fantastic. They gave us a suite that was made ready for one of the owner's parents (if I understood it correct). When we arrived they had just had the religious opening ceremony, and invited us to the common lunch they had after the ceremony (really good food). They didn't know what good they could do for us, the kitchen hadn't opened, so they brought us delicious tea every morning, snacks and drinks. Thank you, all of you, from the owner, general manager, to the room boys, EVERYBODY, you were so good to us (including us in the hotel family :-), and we didn't miss anything during our stay. It was really an experience being the first guests ever at your hotel. I hope we can come back some day. The GSH Colombo Hotel was a pleasant experience. From the time I checked in to the time I checked out the entire experience was First Class. The Staff were friendly, spoke Fluent English and were able to help me out with whatever I needed. The Breakfast at the Hotel was amazing and I was able to order anything I wanted on the menu. The Service was fast. I was able to also order Room Service and that too was very good. Taxi Facilities were available and the staff were very friendly with helping me out with this. If you are looking for a Nice place to Stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka, this is it. Convenient Access to everything in the city. Shopping nearby, central place to stay at affordable rates. Definitely going to come and stay here again next time I am in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I would recommend this place for Business Travelers, Couples with Children, or for anyone that wants to stay for a couple of days. Amazing facilities, amazing service.

After traveling around Sri Lanka for 9 days, we returned to Colombo to stay for 1 weekend. Hotel location is great as it is in the business and hotel area of the city, not a far walk to Galle Face Green which is a nice strip of public lawn along the ocean front. The hotel is just across the Dutch Hospital commercial complex with shops, spas, restaurants and cafes. It is also a walking distance to Colombo main train station and bustling commercial market neighborhood. The hotel is quite quirky with an overall Scottish theme. Room very spacious and view of government buildings. Bathroom is spacious, modern and clean. Only one set back was the shower door that wouldn't close properly so had leaking water onto the dry area. Staff were attentive and accommodating. Our flight was late in the night on Sunday, so paid for another half day to enjoy a full warm sunny day in Colombo and to get cleaned up in the evening before airport. Also asked the hotel to arrange an airport taxi which worked out well. Great ending to our Sri Lanka trip. Will recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Colombo.

I stayed in the Mandarina for about a week whilst I was working in an office in Colombo. The hotel its self is very nice, the families and amenities are nice and the rooms are modern and clean. The rooftop pool is nice and a cool place for taking photos and relaxing. The buffet breakfast they provide is also good, with many different options from western to Sri Lankan foods. The staff are mildly friendly, although did sometimes give me a weird vibe - maybe because I am a young professional? Some of my local friends came to visit a few times and they did not question anything. I had a great stay here and would stay here again. Tip: Don't use the tuktuks outside the hotel, they tried to charge me 700 rupees, use the PickMe App my journey was only 300.

This hotel has such a lovely feel. Stayed in direct ocean view room and had excellent view of the beach in front. Rooms was dated, especially bathroom but was advised this is the newer part of the hotel. Public areas showing age, scratches and marks everywhere. Best feature was the buffet dining, best we had in Sri Lanka. Pool are is nice but crowded and no sense of organization. People moving chairs and lounges all over the place so when busy it looks like a shambles. The pool area is also open to outside visitors who pay which adds to the overcrowding. Private beach area is nice but desolate and not inviting, preferred the public beach which had more atmosphere. All in all though a lovely stay here and the staff are wonderful and would have no hesitation staying again. Took local train several times to Colombo only a few stations away and that was cheap, fast and an experience in itself.

My wife and I stayed here the first night of our holiday in Sri Lanka. We loved everything about our stay. The room was awesome,really big, very modern, huge comfortable bed and the bathroom was massive. We were blown away by the hospitality and kindness of the owners Ranjith and Chitra who made us feel like family. We became good friends with them, my wife done Yoga with Chitra and Ranjtith rang ahead all of our accommodation and to make sure they had drivers accommodation for our driver. We had the authentic Sri Lankan lunch cooked by the in house chef Nita. This was one of the best meals we have ever had. This kickstarted our love for Sri Lankan food. Everything she cooked was amazing and would highly recommend this. The continental breakfast was very satisfying also. We also tried the authentic Sri lankan breakfast which was really good too. It was a wonderful stay and we will definitely be staying here again whenever we are in Colombo.

Inside the room, everything are there with iron & iron board set for every room. Perfect! Room service & house keeping also efficiency and good work! Stylish, sophisiticated, civilised, an oasis of tranquility in central Colombo in a very chic neighbourhood. We loved our stay at the Tintagel, so much that we booked again for our last night in Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were warm, friendly, professional, attentive yet informal and extremely helpful. A special thank you goes to Anton the general manager who went above and beyond the call of duty to help us organise a hire car for the second week of our holiday. Fantastic service. Our room was amazing, spacious, beautifully designed with a fabulous bathroom, soft fluffy towels, huge bath and very comfortable bed. The breakfast in the morning served outside in the patio garden was the best we experienced in Sri Lanka. Delicious freshly prepared fruit, juices, the Sri Lankan breakfast (don't miss out - must be ordered the night before) was sublime with freshly cooked hoppers to order. We chose to eat out, travelling to and from the hotel was very easy either by tuk tuk or car and took no time at all to zip around and it was a pleasure to return from the hustle of the city to the tranquil calm interior of the Tintagel. If you're in Colombo the do not miss the chance to stay at the Tintagel. Highly recommended, a fantastic hotel.

The staff is very friendly and helpful! The room is big and clean (a little bit smell of smoke), with window, comfortable bed, A/C, good hot shower and good wifi. They also have a drinkable water dispenser to refill your bottle anytime. And tea and coffee available. The breakfast was good enough. We started our trip in Sri Lanka in this hotel, and went back 3 weeks later. We could leave one of our backpacks there, and that helped us a lot. Thank you!!

We stayed 4 nights here to finish off our 2 weeks cycling tour of Sri-Lanka. I loved hotel, but Colombo itself is boring and was a real let-down after our tour of SL. The hotel is a bit further away from the main ones (like the other Hilton) but it only took a tuk-tuk ride costing 200 rupees to get to the main shopping area we used near the Old Dutch Hospital. We love our space and this hotel fits the bill. It was "huge", a nice change from some of the other hotels we had been in. My estimate would be 15sq. with a fantastic view of the water and sunset. The staff are very helpful. On arrival they said we hadn't booked for breakfast, but our Agoda receipt showed we did - no big argument they just said "we'll sort it out, don't worry" and they did quietly sort it out, we weren't double billed. The washing machine malfunctioned (wear and tear on the door handle which snapped off) and the service man was there in minutes to fix it, again no dramas. We organised with a private sedan taxi driver to get a lift to the airport (an hours drive) - he turned up in a tuk-tuk (deceptive to say the least). I paid him 200 rph to go away. The bell boy promptly rang a taxi for me (in fact he rang 2 services to get the quickest one - the hotel taxi costs nearly double as is the norm for most hotels, so we weren't forced to use theirs) - just wonderful customer service. Arrived late for brekky and was given a bowl of freshly cut fruit from the chef. Room was cleaned properly and thoroughly each day, there is an air conditioner in each room (this is a big plus), the tv works unlike many we had seen, the couches are comfortable, the beds were divine to sleep on, (extra pillows, slippers & bath robe provided) and again - so much room, I so hate being stuck on top of each other. My only complaint would be the bath/shower, as it is high to step into, a handle on the wall for OHS purposes to facilitate stepping into and out of wouldn't go astray, I'm very fit, but I'm no gymnast

Great new hotel with a Swiss cleanliness throughout. Even at 2:40 pm the lunch buffet (closes at 3 pm) was looking perfect and clean! Nowhere else in Sri Lanka we meet something comparable! The full 10 points go to guest relation! Ashvanee is the perfect well trained and open minded charming fun and smart young lady, ready to jump in to make your stay perfect and the birthday surprise was such good fun! Thanks to my wife, the hotel Moevenpick and I can only suggest to fellow travelers to stay there and get treated real 5⭐️!

My wife and I stayed in a horrible hotel in Colombo 1 Hotel Grand Oriental, thinking that it would be a nice historical hotel near the main shopping sites, we were wrong. We moved to Zylan Villas and discovered a world of difference. It's easy to see why every guest at Zylan feels compelled to write gushing notes of praises in the hotel guest book, it's full of highly positive comments. The Villa is a beautifully designed boutique hotel with only 10 rooms but the decor and room with its quality amenities make our stay a comfortable, happy respite. The staff are obviously very well trained and ever so attentive and helpful. Plenty of initiative, and the best service you'll have in Colombo. Perfect stay. We will return!

We really enjoyed our stay! Having travelled by train from Galle, we got off at Mt. Lavinia and took a tuk tuk to the hotel which was far easier than going into central Colombo. On arrival, the staff were extremely friendly to the point where we ended up chatting to them for almost half an hour. The hotel was the cleanest we stayed in during our stay in Sri Lanka. The proximity to the beach is also a big plus and is worth visiting if you book here. We took the bus between the hotel and central Colombo and is an experience in itself, plus it only costs 20 rupees for the trip. Highly recommend booking here as it seems to be far greater value for money than the hotels closer to the city centre.

Highly recommended location for a good price. Reasonably clean but hotel management can, with only a very small effort, keep it superbly clean given that it is a new building. Service is prompt and warmth typical of Sri Lankans is evident in the reception and handling of guests. Rooms are small by Asian standards but there is masive wastage of common areas which could be done up and, with a bit of guest management, limited bed space could be compensated for largeish groups. We were a group of three families whose rooms were scattered. Common area facilities of the apartments were not accesible and not well-equipped. We did not sample the entire food menu and restricted ourselves to breakfast buffet since Colombo has many well-known food spots.

I liked the hotel and its location - away from the hassle and bustle of the main roads of Colombo 7. The rooftop pool is a must-see - go there for a drink in the late arvo to enjoy the sunset. There are a few good cafes nearby, as well as the National Museum and ODEL shopping mall (that I quite liked). The hotel staff were helpful but not always attentive (in my opinion). Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Jetwing Colombo Seven, and will pick it over older Colombo hotels (like Cinnamon Gardens, for example) any day!

They had to move me to another hotel when we arrived as the booking was mixed up by the computer. I found the staff extremely accommodating. however we had to wait for the apt to be cleaned. it was still pretty dirty after it was cleaned. Although it was a good value. . .we were happy to escape the next morning

Just stayed 1 night at beginning of our honeymoon. What a great location on a very cool street in Colombo. We were poised to catch as many of the sites as we could. On arrival the place has a real wow factor. The reception was cool and smelled amazing. The staff checked us in quickly and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was really big and again had a real wow factor. We like to stay in Nice hotels and this one didn't disappoint. The furnishings and decor were grand like the room. Everything was spotless and furnishings in good condition. I think constructive criticism is good so if anything I would say the awesome bathroom could do with a towel rail to allow us to hang the great big towels you provided. Pool was beautifully kept and clean. Decided to eat in the restaurant and were very pleased we did. Really upmarket feel and staff very well trained. The courses were all delicious and although likely to be one of the more costly of our meals in Sri Lanka it was worth it

I have made a reservation for my parents at the Ocean Colombo Hotel. Since it was my mothers birthday, I asked them if they can do something nice for her. Usually a hotel will put some chocolates and a card, but they went out all the way - they greeted her in the check in, decorated their room with balloons, put a cake in the room with her name on it - and not less than 4 staff members went up to sing her happy birthday. This was according to them, the best welcome they ever had. The room itself had large beds, a beautiful view and the breakfast was nice. The hotel was clean and located in a central location, so they could get anywhere they wanted quite easily. A hotel that knows how to make their guests feel special is worth everything. Thank you!
