Shangri-La Bosphorus Hotel
Besiktas,Istanbul - View on map
"Everything was great food, location, service etc. The room size was AMAZING for the centre of Istanbul almost 70msq and we felt like it was a suite even though it was the entry level room. The spa was terrific! The location was perfect. As with all chinese hotels it was a little soulless but very grand but considering the intensity and texture of istanbul it actually felt like a sanctuary away from personality which worked really well and felt genius. You can go along the Bosphorus to the 4seasons and Kempinski which are much grander and have better food/leisure options - all walking distance. I stay in hotels 75% of my life and only 10% of them I'd say that I'd love to go back - this is one of the good ones. "

CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel Istanbul
Beyoglu,Istanbul - View on map
"The location is unbeatable. It’s in a middle of the action but not in a super heavy traffic location like the old city. Taxim Square Metro is 200 meters away which is convenient. For a first timer in Istanbul like me, I usually used taxi to get to the old city in the morning and get back using metro while the traffic jam is congested in the afternoon. The doormen will assist to get the taxi and explain the destination to the driver. They also gave me a taxi card with the taxi number and also approximate fares to your location. Just in case the taxi wants to cheat you with the fares. For shopping there is istiklal street with farious shops, restaurants, cafes which open even after midnight. My deluxe room with sea view is big, with complete 5 stars amenities. Bed is super comfortable, bathroom is spacious with good water pressure. Do yourself a favor and book a room with bosphorus sea view. That morning and afternoon view from the room is priceless. Totally recommended"

More about Istanbul

With one foot in Europe and the other in Asia, Istanbul is a beautiful enigma. Founded by the Greeks, developed by the Romans and Byzantines, and perfected under the Ottomans, Istanbul has more than enough history, architecture, and culture.

Hotels in Istanbul range from ultra-modern high rises to cozy inns housed in restored heritage buildings. Across the water from Sirkeci and Sultanahmet on the Antolian side of the Bosporus is the Kadikoy-Uskudar area where historic trams clatter past shoppers.

It's impossible to visit Istanbul without standing in awe of the city’s stunning art and architecture. The Sultanahmet historic quarter is awash with Byzantine-era homes and Ottoman mosques. Its crowning attraction is Hagia Sophia, a grand basilica-turned-mosque-turned-museum that was once the world's largest enclosed space.

Culture comes in many forms on this continental bridge. Beyoglu-Taksim district boasts museums and art galleries, stages Jazz festivals, and operates several top-end boutiques. Trendy night clubs and bohemian cafés huddle around the boutique hotels in Istanbul, and of course a trip to Istanbul would not be complete without a visit to the Grand Bazaar.

Sirkeci Station is the point of entry for travelers arriving by rail from Europe, but most visitors arrive via Ataturk Airport on the European side. It's a well-run facility with links to cities across Europe and the Middle East.

There’s much more to see and learn about Istanbul, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
