Sightseeing the history of gold mining in Kalgoorlie and surrounding environment, traveling to the various ghost towns and endeavour and try to visualise the immense hardships of those who live/existed in most challenging conditions.
wasnt to bad a place to stay and have a look around if you have never been there before. i have lived there for a period of 6 months a long time ago but unless ya working in town i wouldnt want to live there.
but a nice place to vist for a night or 2
This was one of the cleanest, prettiest towns I have ever been to. There was a great deal of history and a quaintness I was not expecting.
The streets and sidewalks are wide. Kalgoorlie has kept the past and mining culture by preserving and caring for their buildings. There is abundant historical information available. It was a delightful surprise to us and we have travelled extensively.
Lots of good sightseeing in and surrounding areas especially interesting historical stuff about the town and surrounding goldfields.
Because it is a mining town there are a lot of fast food outlets. The pubs mostly cater for the miners as a lot of them advertise Skimpies (scantily dressed barmaids) but we went to the Exchange Hotel that has Paddy's restaurant suitable for families with young children right through to older people. There are other eating establishments but we like 'pub food' to Paddy's suited us. Mt. Charlotte very interesting and also free. This is where the water pipeline for the town comes in all the way from Perth and gets pumped up into a 4xolympics pool size tank to supply Kalgoolie. Lots of interesting info on boards all the way to the top which also has a really good view over Kalgoolie.
Drunks around town on fri, sat sun nights, due to lack of things for people to do Not the safest town in the outback
GOOD PLACE TO VISIT, LOVED LEARNING ALL ABOUT THE MINING INDUSTRY PAST AND PRESENT WAS MOST INTERESTING.
FRESH WATER PIPELINE WAS ALSO OF GREAT INTERESTED, WHAT A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT! PLENTY OF GOOD PUBS FOR GOOD FOOD, ALTHOUGH SOME WERE RATHER PRICEY.
The attractions including Kalgoorlie Golden Mine, Lake Ballard, Lost City Eleonora are worth to visit
