Dhulikhel,Kathmandu - View on map
"This property spanning around 22 acres in the most perfect location outside of Kathmandu pampers all of the senses from the visual to the sublime. The staff is outstanding, the rooms encompass gorgeous views, and the food is some of the best in the world. Activities abound like a hike to the local farm, yoga, meditation, painting, spa, Pottery, or just lounging in one of the multiple forest sitting areas. Service and amenities are 5 star, this was one of the best stays we've discovered around the world. this will remain one of our greatest memories of travel."

Baber Mahal Vilas
Tribhuvan International Airport,Kathmandu - View on map
"An oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle Kathmandu, great atmosphere, great decor. 3 great restaurants in the adjustment garden/Art Gallery. And we are also very glad to rediscover the great art of hotel concierge that's lost in a lot of 5 star hotels, in Baber Mahal Vilas Kathmandu. A superb experience. Thank you so much. "

"Lovely luxurious hotel in Kathmandu! It has beautiful architecture with a great garden (with geese!) to relax and walk about. Also situated at a great location in the quiet area of Durbar Marg with some great restaurants nearby. "

Dwarika's Hotel
Tribhuvan International Airport,Kathmandu - View on map
"Dwarika's is simply the finest hotel in Kathmandu. The salvaged architectural pieces that have been incorporated into the various hotel buildings are gorgeous. Our room had tons of windows and looked out on the courtyard. I have only one criticism of our room, and that is that they use citronella to clean, and our room had an overpowering smell in it when we checked in. We had to open the windows for a while to try to clear out the aroma. "

Traveler impressions of Kathmandu

More about Kathmandu

Kathmandu has always been a popular and fascinating destination among international travelers. Nepal’s capital city, Kathmandu is home to important Buddhist and Hindu sites, as well as a cultural distinctiveness that begs to be explored.

The neighborhood of Thamel is definitely one of Kathmandu’s most famous districts, and a favorite among backpackers and budget travelers as it features much of the city’s affordable hotels and many shopping and dining options.

Kathmandu’s authentic neighborhoods are tucked into back alleys away from the tourist enclaves, and venturing out to these areas will be a culturally rewarding experience. A short walk or rickshaw ride will lead to quiet Buddhist temples, each with their own history and interesting artifacts such as the Boudhanath Stupa. Historic neighborhoods in the old town give the distinct impression that little has changed in the last several hundred years.

The best place to begin a city tour is at Durbar Square, which was once home to the royal palace. This neighborhood dates to the 1600s and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. About a century ago, the actual palace was relocated to Narayanhiti, an elite district with a variety of many five-star accommodations in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airportis the national gate of entry, and the only international airport in the country.

There’s much more to see and learn about Kathmandu, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions, landmarks, and hotels of this exciting city can be found.
