The city of Klerksdorp was just a small community back in 1837, but the discovery of gold in 1886 drew thousands of prospectors to the area. A large mining and agricultural economy thrives today and is complemented by the history of the city as well as the captivating atmosphere of South Africa. The city is about 185km southwest of Johannesburg, reachable via the N12 Treasure Route.
