More about Memphis (TN)

This southern city is full of history and one of the most vibrant music scenes in the country, often referred to as the home of the blues and the famous Memphis barbecue. The city is served by Memphis International Airport, which is located within close reach of many Memphis hotels, as well as plenty of public transportation to get from the airport to the city.

When in Memphis, a walk around Beale Street is a must. The street is known as the home of the blues, and is full of bars, restaurants, and boutique shops. Beale Street is often the soul of the city, where people spend their evenings enjoying a meal or drinks with friends. It’s the perfect place in which to experience the vibe of Memphis and do some great people-watching as well.

Of course, Memphis’s musical history goes further than Blues, the city being the home of the world famous Elvis Presley and his massive mansion, Graceland. Graceland is now a museum, housing all the artifacts and mementos from the life of the King of Rock and Roll. Memphis is also central to the historic events that took place during the American Civil Rights Movement, including being the city where the legendary leader of the movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, was fatally shot while standing at a balcony of a hotel. That hotel is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum, very much a must-see attraction for all visitors.
