initially I found nimbin a bit seedy and confronting, however the more time I spent getting to know the place and speaking to the locals the more appreciated its unique charm

Nimbin is famed for being the 'hippy' capital of Australia. Don't be fooled. Yes, there are one or two spaced-out backpackers wandering around and some elderly acid casualties sitting on the street, but the main thing you will find is alcoholics and junkies.
