I was looking for a good hotel near Riga airport and this was a perfect choice.I had my own car, therefore getting around Riga wasn't a problem. You can reach both city centre and Riga airport within 10-15 minutes by car.Spice shopping mall is also not far from the hotel. The room was comfortable.I enjoyed my stay and will certainly consider this hotel on my next visit to...

Good hotel! Very accommodating staff, friendly and helpful. We weren't able to have the breakfast, which is included, because we had to leave for the airport at 5:00am. I have read good things about Gertrude Rixwell's breafast, however... My family and I were on the tail-end of our Riga-Vilnius-Riga trip. The weather was hotter than expected, so it was SO NICE to be i...

I traveled to the Balkans, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Helsinki. I wanted to be around snow for the holidays. Riga, Latvia is this review PROS: The Staff was very nice an accommodating. The room was upgraded and quite big. This hotel was well placed just 5 minute walk to the city center and Christmas Market. The Breakfast was good and diverse. CONS: The hotel ...

Lovely big room, comfortable beds, clean. Best to stay on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday as it is a party street the rest of the nights hence the earplugs supplied by the Hotel and the triple glazed Windows, or ask to stay at the back and not on the street side. Breakfast was excellent. Close to bus Station and the old town. Good Restaurants and bars in the Party stree...

I was looking for hotel in Riga witch is easy to reach by car and with indoor parking. This hotel matched perfectly to my needs. Location is perfect, you can get to old town just in few minutes walking. View is absolutely fantastic from higher levels, breakfast is generous and staff really helpful.

Location near the lake and sunrise is the best! Very good breakfast including the salmon etc. Clean and comfortable room, cheap price, about 30 Euros per night with breakfast for two persons. Very friendly staff. I think that this hotel Baltvilla near the lake of Baltezers is one of the best hotel with friendly room price near the Riga, for travellers with car who lik...

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel while visiting Riga and it was a great experience. The staff, especially Kristiana, were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has been recently renovated and is very tasteful with a stunning atrium. The dining room is also gorgeous with wonderful views from the window and our bedroom was very pretty! The location in the Old Town me...

The Old Riga Palace Hotel is right in the middle of The Old Town. The number 22 Airport bus stops within a few minutes walk of the hotel. No need for taxi - the bus is only 0.50 Lats. The staff are all friendly from reception through to room service and breakfast staff. Talking of breakfast this is amazing. A full buffet with hot and cold and sweet and savoury. There i...

There was a nice contrast entering the calm lobby from the busy street. The big shoppingmall and several bars and restaurants are situated just outside the hotel but although the street was quite busy you hardly noticed the noise once inside. A calm and pleasant oasis rigt in the middle of the best part of Riga.

This is the place to stay! Our three night stay, from check in to departure, was well above our expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious, the gym/sauna much appreciated, and the location excellent for anything one might want to do downtown Riga. We enjoyed both the hotel and it's surroundings. Unfortunately we did not eat...

We had a fantastic weekend in Riga, and where happy to spend quite some time at the hotel, the restaurant, spa area and the room itself. February was apparently far from tourist season, so neither the Old Town or the hotel was crowded. We where able to use the spa with sauna and steam bath whenever we wanted. A great restaurant with fantastic food and service, and they...

We had room with jacuzzy and it was just epic. The jacuzzy was huge and we had such a blast with my girlfriend. Can'e even recall how many hours we spend there in our 2 night stay, we couln't just get enough. I definitely recommend to take room with jacuzzy, you won't regret it.

Of all the hotels I've stayed in in Latvia (5) is this simply the best. Staff everywhere are smiling and friendly: Cleaners, receptionists and waiters and bartenders. (You cannot take that for granted in Latvia....) My room was nice, with a good view. The park outside is nice and it's so easy to get to downtown Riga in no time with the public transportation just outsid...

there is no sign board “ mimimi hotel” and can not enter the building without entrance code. You need to ask them when you made reservation. I was waiting for 30 mins and I couldn’t find out where is the entrance.. but I called them, luckily I had EU phone number and could text them. Until the accommodation looks not nice at all.. but inside is very clean!i think they...

A bit off the very centre, the hotel is an island of the 21 century among one hundred years old buildings. Clean small rooms. Perhaps not intended for a long term stay. The breakfast's cost seemed high. Public transport stops and a few small grocery stores nearby., a fast-food restaurant in a walking distance.

Staff were very friendly and helpful Room was modern and clean Breakfast was basic - but that's ok as it is free Would recommend this hotel and stay here again I arrived via bus and walked there to check in but on the way back got a taxi for €7 back to the bus station It is walking distance to Old Town - may take 20 mins

The hotel was not marked so it is a bit difficult to find. It is far ( about 3km) from Old Town but close to grocery store. The trolley to central station is about 300 meters away. The kitchen is basic with refrigerator and microwave Only. Internet works well in the lounge but the signal is week in the bedroom. The young lady at the reception speaks decent englis...

The hotel was located in the center therefore everything was within walking distance, including the bus station. However I got the private room on the second floor, which as far as I see there was only another room (4 beds room) but somehow the bathroom in my floor was always occupied by more than 5 people. I guess people on the first floor also used bathroom on the se...

the hotel is located in the middle of an old soviet housing community. the building itself seems to have been renovated well enough, but it would be difficult to find the hotel at first without satnav. the hotel did not provide breakfast (although its keycard booklet said breakfast was available 8-11am); the wifi was broken for half the time i was there; the shower doo...

First, this place is not a hostel - rather someone letting out their own room. If (like me) you arrive at the address expecting a Hostel sign you will be frustrated and angry and waste time. Ensure you have a meeting time outside the building in advance. It is a big room but it's full of the owner's clutter - if you unpack you'll have to put stuff on the floor. Th...

Upon arrival we felt the place was a bit dodgy. There were shady characters lurking at the front door, guests seemed a bit strange as well and the building was quite decrepit. Nothing bad to say about staff, they were friendly nd helpful. We often couldn't find them but they responded to emails quickly and came to see us. Our hot water didn't work, the staff gave us ke...

I stayed just for a weekend in Gogol Park hostel, which relatively new place in Riga. Location is good, close to train and bus station and the city center. Rooms and other facilities where clean and quite new. Friendly staff and free wifi was a good thing also.

Pros: Its right above mcdonalds, opp freedom monument which is bordering the old town so location tops off everything. Rooms and showers are new and clean Cons: since its right beside one of the main roads it can still be noisy on the street at night that will disturb your sleep (i was on the 4th floor). So perhaps ask for a room that is NOT facing the street will ...

This is not a Hilton, so my expectation was accordingly. This hotel is on the market. There is also night market till around midnight. This causes noise, especially if window is open. Was good to see the market fizz from the window.. But later it made harder to get sleep. The worst was the barrier. Every vehicle in and out, barrier up and down: lilililili-lilililili, l...

It was great,i was staying in lovely single room with nice desighn, dining rooms are on each floors, everything for cooking there. I recommend the hotel as not expensive type of hotels. There are market and bus station are near the hotel.30 minutes far from Old Riga town

I do not understand why everyone are saying this place is horrible. It's really not. They waited for me as I didn't arrive before late in the evening and the receptionist was very kind. My room was clean and had what I needed. It's only 6 stops away from the airport and it was a perfect place to stay for the night until my flight in the morning.

We had a great stay in this hotel. There are 2 supermarkets nearby. The kitchen is also equipped and they have a washing machine. The building is very cool because it's super old Soviet era. The check in staff was very friendly. The hotel doesn't offer any breakfast. Our room was on the 5th floor and good thing we had our backpacks. If you have big suitcases try to a...

The cheap price, with ensuite bathroom and the privacy of an individual room, makes it better than hostels which may even be more expensive during the peak period. The room including the toilet was recently renovated so it's great, but the amenities in the room are a little spartan (no fridge, kettle, TV is old and small, etc.) but for the price it's certainly accep...

Good. I can walk to the center of old city by foot in 10~15 mins. next block, there is a maket. I can cook with fresh veges and pork. satified with this price. good living room. there is no air conditioner just is fan but good.(in July) If I will be in Latvia, will stay there again. Bus is complex a little.

I have no real complaints given the price I paid. However, the room's carpet was quite dirty and had a slight odour. Little things like no water,no drinking glasses in the room and no tissues, whilst not big problems, are standard items for most hotels. I thought the staff were a plus- friendly and accomodating and the location is great. Breakfast was standard and sati...

The apartment is well equipped and well managed, I was met on the street at the time I informed of my arrival, guided up to the flat and given a clear full orientation. It would helpful to know the managers telephone numbers (Yuri +371 2946 2708 , Tatyana +371 2320 1198 - Eng/Rus/Lat). Local transport - bus 13 comes/goes to Riga city centre. First-rate hotel in the old town section of Riga. Beautifully appointed historic hotel with attentive staff, nice rooms, and attractive public spaces. Breakfast room can get crowded and there is a cigar bar off the lobby which can get a bit noisy. Ask to reserve sauna and steam room in the basement: great way to reinvigorate

Right in the heart of old town Riga. Comfortable rooms and beds. Great shower and bath facilities. Building construction underway but did not bother or disturb us at night. Kitchen facilities were very poor. We were a group of six adults travelling together for four weeks. We have booked three bedroom apartments for all our stays. We wanted an apartment s...
Traveler impressions of Riga
It is a very nice medivial town. I like the Opera of Riga more than La Scala in Milan. Take a ticket 2nd balcony and admire the cealing.
Centre compact enough to walk around, very interesting and beautiful Old Town and Art Nouveau districts
I travel internationally continually and I found Riga to be among the most enjoyable cities I have visited.
Upon arrival which was late at night to the bus station we walked to our hotel. I didn't get a good vibe at all.
Fina stränder i Jumula. Bra nattliv i gammalstan. Finns en hel del "SPA" som du kan besöka. Ser upp för ficktjuvar och "trevliga" tjejer som vill lura av dig dina pengar.
I found Riga to be an enchanting, hauntingly romantic city. It was not overrun by tourists, but that may have been because the large Song Festival had just finished the day I arrived.
Walking along the narrow cobbled lanes lined with character filled building over a thousand years old is a photographers dream.
Riga is a large city and has two main areas of interest. The first is the Old City, which is a UNESCO World Heritage and the second is the Art Nouveau section located mainly in the City Center, which is a newer part of Riga.
You are able to stroll around the complete Old Town on foot, and cover all the streets in a few hours.

Absolutely fantastic hotel - restaurant upstairs delicious. Rooms huge and great. Hotel phenomenal. Only negative is in the restaurant downstairs - service pretty ordinary and the staff in this particular area didn’t seem to have much idea. Besides this the hotel is a 10

Excellent location. Close to all attractions, bus depot, supermarkets, shopping malls and department store. Take Bus 22 from the airport and get off at the Autoosta stop. More about Riga
Riga is divided into two parts by the Daugava River with the old town on the east side. Restoration of this area after World War II has led it to become one of the most complete old towns in Europe. Architecture is heavily influenced by the Germans who inhabited the city throughout the majority of its history. A walking tour is undoubtedly the best way to take in the city, and the streets of Alberta and Elizabetes as well as the area around Freedom Monument are the best areas to see Art Nouveau. Russian influence can be seen in the Moscow Suburb as well as other areas of the city that reflect back to the time of Soviet occupation. The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia details the country’s time under both Nazi and Soviet occupation, and the National History Museum of Latvia provides a look into the country’s past. Riga Cathedral, the Three Brothers, and the Swedish Gate are but a few more of the city’s top sites.
Be sure to check out the interactive map of Riga for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
