Traveler impressions of Rottnest Island
Overpriced....food overpriced and underwhelming, accommodation overpriced, activities overpriced. I just booked a 2 bed apartment with a swimming pool for $250 near Byron Bay with wonderful views.
It's such a beautiful place, with things to do for the whole family. Highly recommend bringing snorkels, fishing rods or bikes.
Rottnest island is unique in itself, lots of history and beautiful litle beaches. The water is amazing blue.
As there is no Islander, so I can't said they are friendly XD. Cycling is the best way to visit all the beaches!

More about Rottnest Island
Once arriving at this destination 20km off the coast of Perth, grab a bicycle. Cars are not permitted on the island, and a shuttle service is available to get around, but a full loop around the island is only 25km. So having a bike will make for a healthier and potentially more rewarding experience. Catch incredible coastal views along beaches and bays such as Geordie Bay, Fays Bay, and The Basin. At night, keep an eye out for the creature that was mistaken by early settlers for a rat. The island was eventually called Rat’s Nest due to this mistaken identity, but these adorable creatures are actually called quokkas and can be seen in large numbers. Rottnest Island Museum makes for a great stop to catch up on the history and ecology of the land, and an amazing landscape that includes pink salt lakes await your exploration.
