Traveler impressions of Samut Prakan

More about Samut Prakan

Samut Prakan is a separate province located to the southeast of Bangkok. It is nearly 30km away from the Thai capital, making it ever so convenient to reach by a number of transportation options. The town is home to numerous historical and cultural sites that date back to the Ayutthaya period.

A visit to Samut Prakan will be an exciting adventure for the cultural and historical explorer. One of the most fascinating attractions found here provides an all-in-one Thailand experience. Ancient Siam works to retain Thai history with dozens of buildings and sites such as The Garden of the God, The Northern Thai Village, and The Tiger King’s Palace – some of which were removed from their original site and reconstructed, some duplicated from the original design or created based on historical events, and others simply showcasing creative design. A more eye-catching and symbolic site of Samut Prakan is the massive three-headed elephant that towers over the Erawan Museum. Another captivating destination, the museum’s three floors are designed to represent three worlds, and each displays antiquities and priceless religious objects. Outside the cultural experience, shopping is aplenty in Bang Phli, and Bangkok is within easy reach.
