Shizuoka hotels & places to stay

We read a lot of review before booking this hotel. And the Hotel Associa did not disappoint us. The bus stop from Shizuoka Airport was directly in front of the hotel entrance. And it was so easy to visit any sites in Shizuoka. The JR Shizuoka Station was just next to the hotel. There were countless restaurants and stores inside the station itself. The breakfast was in buffet style and it was really good. We would recommend this hotel to anyone is seeking for reasonable price with great location hotel in Shizuoka!

I had serious doubts about staying here purely due to its location and relying on the shuttle bus, but we went ahead and tried it anyway. And wow, we were so happy we stayed here. First, the free shuttle bus to-from Shizuoka station was quite frequent, say on a hourly basis or so. So, it worked out perfectly fine. The schedule is posted on their website, so you can check it out there with their map location too. Very easy. The shuttle bus departs 'ON THE DOT' though...so make sure you get there EARLY. They don't sit around and wait. Then, we got upgraded to the Twin Room with Mt Fuji view room. Wow..This has got to be one of the biggest rooms we've had in our entire trip, as far as japan standards and the view was just impeccable. What a great way to relax and have a cup of tea outside with such view. Expansive, relaxing and memorable. The room was very modern, natural light and clean. Ample toiletries in the bathroom. Very urban. The breakfast was a buffet in a gorgeous setting overlooking Shizuoka. They had a good selection of mix asian, not too Japanese, but also some western food. A very good balance. Probably one of the most expansive breakfast spread we've had in our entire trip. Do explore the property grounds for a walk and photo. It was really relaxing and beautiful. Would've loved to take my parents here. Hopefully next time :) Really happy about this choice. Thank you!

Breakfast is pretty good, you can eat delicious food there. The staff is nice, they can communicate in English; location is pretty nice, only 5 minutes walk from the Shizuoka station. Semi-double room is not that big, but that is not a big deal since all rooms in Japan are small :) Recommend this place if you're going to visit Shizuoka!!

Staffs are so kind and helpful. The location is perfect to stay in Shizuoka for shopping and good restaurants. It takes 3~5min. to the station by walk. Parking space is limited but eady to use. They charge 1200 yen per day. Breakfast is a Japanese style but not too bad camparing with ordinary Japanese hotel. I would say it is a quiet resonable hotel in Shizuoka.

The location is excellent, walking distance on the important places and easy to find. Staff are very helpful and accomodating and they speak english. The room is not that big but juat enough dor luggages. I love the bathroom, it is very important to me. The free breakfast is great, they have breads, egg, spam, sausages, burger patty, vegetable, cornflakes, coffee and juices. Highly recommended. I will stay here if I go back to Shizuoka. Cheers!

Near by Shizuoka station only 5 min on foot. Near by shopping area. Very good location. The staff speak english and very nice. When I have arrived on the check-in date at 11.00 am the staff allow me to early check-in. The hotel room is clean and nice.

This hotel is in a great location, being walking distance from the Shizuoka JR station and accessible from that station via an underground tunnel (with the exception of about 10 metres at the end). The rooms are much bigger than I expected and are well maintained. I was most impressed that when we were stuck in Shizuoka for an extra night due to a typhoon, the staff set up a room in the adjacent sister hotel that included cartoons and games for our kids and made everyone comfortable as we were pretty much unable to leave the hotel for the day. The breakfast was great too. My only complaint would be that I think at least for the rooms we stayed in, there would be room for a baby's cot or fold-up bed for a child or two. I stayed with my wife and two young children in two separate rooms as there was no option for a child's bed. I understand it is primarily a business hotel, but I believe it could easily accommodate small families in their existing rooms.

I enjoyed staying at the Candeo Hotel Shimada quite a bit. Positives: - Very clean. - Nice and helpful staff. - English was a possibility. - Comfy beds and good shower. - I woke up to a view of Mt. Fuji from by bedroom! Drawbacks: (not always negatives, something to be aware) - Seems ideal for Japanese travelers who have cars (right off the highway) or who are using the nearby Shizuoka airport. - I was attending a conference in Shizuoka without a car. I ended up hear because closer hotels were booked or too expensive. (Even still, this was my most expensive hotel of the 4 I stayed in while in Japan) - Taxi cost 25$ from the nearby train station. - Once I was at the hotel they explained a bus route that takes you all the way into the main Shizuoka Station in about ~35mins for 6$. This was very convenient for the most part and how I got to and from the hotel. It runs twice an hour from a stop a block and a half down the road. It also runs until 10:30-11:30 at night.

I booked the wrong room which is smoking room. The staff is very kind to check with me whether i need a non smoking room. They changed it for me. The hotel is very near to Shizuoka JR Station, and the Shin Shizuoka station is located right behind the hotel. Shopping is available around here. Comfortable and clean room, pretty spacious for single

Next to the station, perfect for Japan rail pass users who don't want to spend much money in the nearby cities. Definitely worth the money I spent, an excellent restaurant just 2 blocks away

Location is a bit far from JR Shizuoka station, but walkable. JR pass usable on Shizuoka station, and then you can explore the area. Shops/eateries in Shizuoka Station, and Sunpu Castle Park is walkable from hotel. Lots of bread available for breakfast.

Good location since it is near Shizuoka station. A few shops along the way. The room complete the basic necessity. TV, water heater, fridge, electric kettle etc.

We use Shizuoka as base to cover the surrounding places stretching from Kobe to Yokohama. The location is just excellent. Value for a decently spacious room is also excellent. A 7Eleven store is conveniently located downstair without even having to leave the premises.

We stayed a total of 5 nights at this hotel, using it as a base to navigate to the surrounding areas. From Shizuoka Station, walk to the underground linkway near Matsuzakaya shopping mall and exit via the elevator. You would not have to drag your luggages through any staircase. Up at the ground level, the hotel is just a 3 min walk but note there is no covered walkway if there's a heavy downpour. Being near to Shizuoka Station, taking JR Shinkansen or to other tourist spots like Fuji Station is a breeze. The staff at the station's information counter (North Exit) can speak decent English and I managed to hop on a direct bus (bus stop 11 just outside Info Centre) to Nihondaira at 560 yen one way with her instructions. The Sumpu Castle is also within walking distance from this hotel. Shopaholics would have access to many surrounding shopping malls without having to take any public transport. Asty mall has a shop selling traditional and local souvenir products you can't get in Tokyo.

This is a new, clean hotel with everything from hot springs to the best breakfast buffet. Plenty of free parking, right next to a 7-11, 24hrs restaurants across the street and gas station down the street. Staffs are very professional and friendly. Very comfortable hotel. The best I've stayed in Japan so far!

the room is very tiny (as usual in Japan) but good and clean. minor thing is that check out time and breakfast times are way too early

Unforgetable stay at the city,very valued for money,in the central city very near the train station near shopping malls and bars resto, good staff,clean room, i really love to come back and stay again on this hotel, thr view at night was unforgetable you can see the whole city at night , internet wifi access room, english newspaper everyday, buffet breagfast at normal Price,one of the very luxuruous hotel in shizuoka city

Location is in the middle of shopping area. Parking lot is 10 min walk from hotel as our car is a little bit too high to park in building.

Stayed for 2 nights and it was pleasant. The service is great and I didn't encounter any problems checking in or out. They were also accommodating whenever I asked for suggestions and other queries. Their buffet breakfast is good, though I wished they have more options. My room is okay. What I like about it was it was very spacious. However, air conditioning unit was not functioning very well.

Definitely one of best onsen experience in Japan. Hope to visit again with family. Wonderful food and beautiful balcony view to the river and bamboo trees. Dedicated service was super.

Stayed for 5 days visiting families. My little 5 year old and I enjoyed the breakfast every morning. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The room is decent and I felt safe traveling alone with my little child. The only thing if I would like to point out was the laundry room that had a bit moldy smell. I definitely will stay at this hotel again when I come back to shizuoka. A minute walk to the train station, 3 minute walk to rent a car, easy access to shopping center, and Highways. Can't ask for more. Highly recommend hotel in Shimizu Shizuoka

I used this hotel for one day trip to Yaizu and shimizu for eating fish. As the hotel as just in front of the station, it was really convenient to take train to Shizuoka. The Yaizu city itself is not fun place to do something. But if you have a car, you can go to Shimizu, Sea side with easy access.

For traveller who like to experience local Japanese ryokan (bed and breakfast kind of feeling) We arrived late by car without dinner reservation, the staff was willing to prepare a nice meal for us. Food was fantastic. The location is off the main road. However with a great sea view. The only downside was no private toilet in the room.

Hotel are only 5-7 Mins walk from JR Shizuoka Station. and also located in shopping area of Shizuoka City, So, You can find anything you need easily near hotel.

We had such a lovely stay here. It was a highlight of the trip. We booked one night with dinner and breakfast included, and arrived at the hotel at around 4:30pm. Staff were so welcoming, taking our bags and shoes and showing us to our room. We had time to walk to the beach - Black volcanic sand and rolling waves, and nice to be in nature. Then we had a brilliant dinner, with plum wine and many courses of Japanese food, with views across a traditional garden. In the morning, breakfast was plentiful and we went to the beach, where we saw the top of Mt Fuji peek above the clouds and several eagles. It was nice to see somewhere a bit different, compared to the busy tourist areas of Kyoto and Tokyo.

the hotel is near the train station but there is not much nearby. there are some restaurants but the only one we could find which had a menu with pictures that we could order at was chinese so this might be a problem for non-japanese. staff are not english speakers

Stayed in spacious single room with double bed. Good onsen. Got bonus drink for not cleaning up room if staying 2 consecutive nights or more, good idea for better green world. Enough parking spaces. Hotel complimentary buffet breakfast is perfect!
