Whangarie is a mid-way town where you travel from Auckland to Phihia. This town is a resort place where you can enjoy shopping among the shopping malls.
Besides this, you can also enjoy a peaceful and relaxing walking along the riverside.
Whangarei is located on its own harbor on the east coast of Northland. Because of its port (and the nearby Marsden Point oil refinery) it has become the commercial hub of Northland and has a full range of services.
If you are traveling in Northland, Whangarei is definitely the place you should stock up on essentials as it has the best range of supermarkets and other services. Whangarei City Walks: Apart from strolling the shops in the city center, there are some attractive walks on the outskirts of town. Tutukaka Coast: This lovely part of the eastern Northland coastline is only 25 kilometers drive from the center of Whangarei. There are great walks, beaches and a boat marina. Whangarei Heads: The northern side of Whangarei Harbor leads to a headland with more great beaches and walks. Check out the ocean beach and one of the best walks in the Whangarei area, the track to the summit of Mount Manaia.
Clapham Clocks at the Town Basin, Handy to local beaches, they are beautiful! The ethnic people are friendly
Its population of about 30,000 makes it a lovely country town with country town hospitality. Lovely harbour town with restaurants by the "river inlet" of the harbour and a very interesting clock museum there too, plus some great shops.
