I enjoy my stay at Hilton York Hotel. The reception staff is nice and helpful. Besides, I book it several months before the journey and so the price is quite good. The location of the hotel is close to the train station. Besides, it takes only 10 minutes to walk to the main tourist attractions. Besides, breakfast are prepared for all the guests here. The quality is good according to the price I pay. I would strongly recommend this for you.

Our booking was so easy and straight forward, the hotel very kindly upgraded us to the loft suite free of charge as it was a special weekend for us. The a suite was fantastic we had the best time, the sauna defiantly made it. The hotel was a beautiful building and had wonderful character . I can't stress how perfect the location was it took us 9 mins to walk to the very centre of York! The staff where so friendly & helpful.

We had had an unfortunate booking at another hotel which we decided not to stay. This was booked the day before. The room was beautiful. Well equipped. The lady who was cleaning the room was superb. Very helpful and friendley. I was on crutches and so asked if we would like to change room to A ground floor. Wish we had booked for the whole 3 days we stayed in york.

Great breakfast, friendly staff, room clean and spacious (I stayed at single room). Maybe a little far from town center but walking in York is pleasant.

-Best location (very close to York station, city center) -Cheap but not comprosing quality -Spaceous room -Private space with individual bed-curtains and lamp - I loved it the most! -Quality breakfast for only 3.5 pound -Free luggage storage I would stay there if I visit York again and I wish other hostels in other cities are like Safestay york.

I loved everything about the Guy Fawkes Inn's location in Old York. Be advised that this part of York is for pedestrians only, so a cab is able to drop you off nearby, but there is no place to park at the inn. It is within walking distance of Yorkminster. My husband and I arrived by train and hailed a cab. Getting back to the train station to rent a car was more of a challenge than we preferred. Be aware that we saw a couple of vagrants, one across the narrow road from the inn, but he was gone by that evening. Overall, we felt very safe. Our room overlooked an outdoor eating area attached to the restaurant, with a wonderful wall mural. We would visit it again.

The hotel is located on the bank of the river and is ideally situated for the station as its a quick stroll away and also a very short walk across the river to all that York has to offer. From the outside the hotel doesn't look classy as it was an office block but the inside it very stylish and finish is of high standard. The rooms are well presented and VERY clean from white sheets to the nicely appointed bathroom with fab shower. As we were only in York for one night we didn't spend that much time in the room but I would have been happy to relax in there if I had been on business. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a brilliant value nice hotel as everything from location to cost are ideal. I have never stayed in a better value hotel and would use the chain again, sadly I didn't get to sample breakfast but at £7 if prebooked it was obviously going to be good value for money, if I am in the area again I will stay there and look out for other hotels that are part of the group in future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lamb and Lion very much. Wonderful staff (over and above the norm for service), nice variety for breakfasts. The room was comfortable and airy and not as small as I was led to believe from other reviews. The location in York was superb - right at a gate (bar) that leads to the city wall and within walking distance to everything in the old city and bell ringing distance from York Minster. A short walk from the train station. Not much vehicle traffic on the street so if you are driving (not our case) make prior arrangements for parking. Wanted to give a shout out to a night porter (sorry didn't get his name) who filled in at the breakfast service at a moment's notice and although he had never done this job, made out wonderfully. The staff members were all pleasant and friendly and welcoming.

You must to booking this hostel. It is the best for everyone to travel in York. You have to spend a little time for walking to heritage e.g York Minster, The shambles, Betty's Afternoon tea. And you get 20% discount at Kennedy's bar and restaurant.

Very happy with the Ibis hotel in York it is well located. Easy walk to to the town centre and the Railway station

This hotel is a well equipped venue suited to business/conference travellers. It is located on a main road into York centre which is about three miles away. For a tourist there appeared frequent public transport to the city centre. On site car parking is outside and ample. The drive to York is straight forward but an early start would be a good idea to find parking. Over the road from the Hotel is an excellent local pub which we enjoyed immensly.

We arrived to be welcomed by a plate of mince pies at reception, were given a quick tour of the hotel and shown right to our room. My daughter an i were staying in York to go Christmas shopping the next day and the hotel was conveniently close to the station (you can access it via the back gate from the car park which is only a 5 mins walk) and city centre. We booked a twin room and it was large, with comfortable beds and good sized bathroom. We had chosen this hotel as it has a pool and we were lucky enough to be the only swimmers the following morning. The breakfast was very generous with a wide range of choice and it is nice to have personal service rather than a buffet, with all food cooked fresh to order. I would definitely choose this hotel again, it has character and charm compared to modern hotels.

My room is a single room with shared bathroom on top of this building. The bathroom & toilet are very clean. Shared kitchen & living room are very nice too! You can cook and have laundry easily there. Since the lift can't reach the top floor, you need to climb sever1al staircase steps. But it's easy to manage. All staff are very nice, especially Phillp who moved my heavy suitcase to my room when the lift is out of order. DON'T MISS the breakfast coz it is wonderful! Location is great, just less than 10 mins walking from train station. You can also walk to most sightseeing spots! Anyway, it's a gem in York

Good situation for York races. Room was spacious and towels and sheets spotless but could have done with the surfaces a bit cleaner, especially the window ledge which was filthy. Breakfast is fine, but no-one manning the egg station? Despite the couple of gripes we would stay again due to the location when visiting the racecourse.

I have stayed in York many times. Once I found this hotel ... well all I can say it I am now Glued to it. They take amazing care of you, their staff is ver kind and gracious! The lobby is to die for, you will want to just hang out and eat the incredible complimentary cookies that become an instant addiction. The location is everything, just across the street from entering the York Center. A++

The reception was very welcoming. The breakfast staff was very patient as I got an one yr old with me. The room was large so baby could crawl. Most of facilities in the room are in good condition n all well organised. The bed was too soft to me but everyone is different pref. Bathroom was spacious too that was handy with young kids. I highly recommend this hotel. I'll surely book again when I visit York.

We arrived before the usual 2pm check-in time but they allowed us to check in early. Room was spacious and the bed was nice and comfy. The location of the hotel is excellent, just a short 10-minute walk to the city centre. The staff at the reception was very helpful too when we asked for tourist attractions in the city. She gave us a map of places of interest nearby. Definitely would stay here again in our next visit to York.

this hotel suits for those who are traveling light. otherwise you have to carry your own luggage up and down. The hotel staff has mixed up my booking with other guest so as the bill, but I feels like we are the one who made the mistake- she asked me to come to her computer and questioned me why my name does not match the record in their system when we're having our breakfast- How would I know? It's your system! I feel I was being interrogated which makes me so stressful, totally ruined my day. Such shame that this is very nice hotel in a beautiful city.

Easy walking distance to York Minster and surrounding area. We were upgraded to independent unit around the corner which was great.

All you need for a couple of nights clean tidy and the staff were lovely small rooms but all you need towels included! Tv and a small basin. Town is a wee bit away but buses are widely available I found no issue getting in and out of town definitely one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in beautiful outside area would be super nice in summer would stay again !

Having booked the Holiday Inn Express York purely because we wanted somewhere cheap to stay. I can honestly say I was so impressed. Location was excellent, hotel was clean, and the staff were exceptional. Unfortunately I was bitten by a dog while I was out in Thirsk during my stay, not sure what to do I drove back to the hotel, I asked the reception staff, they couldn't have been more helpful, I had bandages plasters, ice water, everything I needed. I didn't need the hospital in the end.

Helpful and friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The location is excellent as it provides parking (a rarity in York) yet you are only ten minutes’ walk from the Minster!

The hotel is in the process of updating which is required, eg black-stained shower curtain, hand cream dispenser old and not working, handle facia loose, thready bedspreads. Breakfast was excellent. Staff delightful.

Room was clean and well appointed with good sized bathroom. Decor was somewhat dated and bathroom in need of modernisation. Hotel was very clean and set in lovely location with easy access to York by taxi (£10 each way). Staff were welcoming and very helpful, this included check in, bar, restaurant and cleaners. Food was very good, we ate in for both nights and could not fault the excellent 3 course table d'hote menu.

We stayed at YHA York for 2 nights and had a nice experience. We booked a room for 2 people with a bunk bed. Everything was clean and in good condition, except they didn't provide towels (we wouldn't complain on this since they'd already notified in advance). Wifi was accessible in the room. You might have to climb as there's no lift. The hostel is not far from the Yorkminster (20 minutes walk). However, if you arrive at the train station then probably buses or taxis are better than getting on foot. Bus 2 (park and ride) is available within walking distance and takes you directly to the centre or the train station within few minutes. Taxis only take less than 5 minutes and cost £5-6. We accidentally cancelled our booking for the 1st night and arrived after midnight, fortunately the guy at reception on 3/4 Sep night was very helpful and he also let us stay in the same room for the 2nd night, although the 2 bookings were separated: 1 made at reception and the other on agoda. He was also very kind to lend my sister a hairdryer for free, usually you have to pay £2 and deposit £5. Another staff on 5 Sep early morning was also a great one. Without him continuously calling a taxi for a few times (since it was very early and drivers took about 30 minutes to arrive), we would've been late for our train at 6:30am. The other staffs were also friendly. Self-catering kitchen is equipped with enough devices and cutlery. Just remember to label your food and clean after dining. The hostel also offer several tours with cheaper price. Compared to other hostels I have stayed before in York, I would definitely recommend YHA York if you're travelling on a budget.

the large shower bathroom was the star of this stay. really pleasing decor. nice sized bedroom. comfortable enough bed and crisp bedlinen. again the decor was attractive. situated at the end of Walmgate it was an excellent location for good bars and cafes on Fossgate and the groovy container spot called Spark, as well as being close to town and the many sights to see. we didn’t have breakfast. but we did have a drink in the bar on Friday eve. the setting itself was nice, but the aircon was fierce, the lighting was not cosy and the tv was on loudly - it didn’t feel like a romantic place to sit and enjoy a drink and we didnt stay long. plenty of great bars in the area its not a big problem and we have already booked another night at this hotel?

Everything about 23 St Mary's was great! Before I arrived, I received an SMS from Fiona who runs the place, asking what time I would be arriving and if I needed a free parking permit. As I was arriving late, I had to do a self check-in, and very clear instructions were given by Fiona so everything went smoothly. I had also received a free upgrade as the room was available, and it was absolutely beautiful; a good size and the bed was very very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, with a wide selection of hot food as well as cereal and fruits. Wifi signal was strong so I could get some work done while on holiday. This place is a treasure, and I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit York Thank you for the exceptional hospitality Fiona!

If you are into smaller boutique hotels then this is the one for you. Welcomed by the owner, who couldn’t do enough for us and was extremely accommodating. The Center of York is on your doorstep and as the name is the hotel suggests, very close to the Barbican theatre. We aren’t morning people so we unfortunately missed breakfast....other reviews say it’s very good. Highly recommend as good value and there’s a ‘personal touch’, unlike in the bigger hotels.
