We were allocated a handicapped room. Apparently our booking agent requested it. I did not. The hotel has perhaps the very best location in CT. But this comes at a price. The service was good but not outstanding. In certain areas the hotel is a little tired (the on-line TV films didn't work properly), the shower door loose (maybe a s a result of the "walk-in" big door to accommodate the wheelchair access). Overall I was disappointed they didn't re-allocate me another standard room with a working TV. It was offered but only after the first night os a two night stay. And that'd have entailed a room move which would have taken time from our only day in CT. This was the end of a three week tour of South Africa, and this was by far the most expensive hotel we booked. Many of the smaller, lower starred hotels were as good, and some better. I'm not sure I feel that I'd want to return. And that's a pity as I feel this could have been outstanding. But it missed.

We were worried about staying in Johannesburg, but the Davinci was brilliant! Extremely safe and secure in the most upmarket area of South Africa. Close to Tambo airport and the best of shopping. Hotel was 5 Star plus...

The most disappointing aspect of Ivory Tree was the poor quality of the food. Neither my wife, nor I are "foodies", but we appreciate quality and the basic ingredients used for the meals at Ivory Tree are simply 100 miles from 5 star. I cannot think of a comparison, as no restaurant that I know in South Africa would serve the equivalent. Another specific sign of problems was the staff's habit of requiring guests to move out of their way. Many of the guests were of advanced years and yet when a member of staff and a guest were passing through the same space, the guest would need to stand back to allow the staff to pass. Having observed this once, I made a point to look out for it and subsequently observed a frequent repetition of the same behaviour.

What a wonderful intro to South Africa. Absolutely stunning location and the most welcoming staff. Food was delicious every day and fresh as can be as it all seems locally sourced from the farm on premises. Spa was also very pleasant. Only thing I’d prefer was if there was a way to control for flies which were moderately annoying in the spa waiting room which would otherwise have been as perfectly pleasant as everywhere else on site. Bicycles were a great way to see more of the beautiful farm which is indeed a real working farm despite how picturesque and perfect it all seems nearer the restaurants and wine tasting room. There are multiple shops on site - scent shop, farm shop and snack shop - each were nicely curated if not a bit pricey.

We stayed at South Beach Camps Bay Hotel for our last night on our 10 day South Africa trip (East - West Coast) and it was the perfect way to end our trip. The location was perfect (few mins walk to restaurants) and the room itself was fabulous. This is rather a boutique apartment - we had a kitchen room, living room, king bed and bath with Jacuzzi tub. The fridge was stocked for breakfast the next morning and they brought fresh croissants and a baguette. As we love to cook, we loved their version of breakfast.

We spent one night in here, it is located in a casino where all restaurants are located nearby with amazing choices. Room is a bit small and dated though it is comfortable. The breakfast is really amazing it is the best we have had in south africa I will definitely recommend!

We arrived at the airport in late afternoon and the hotel car was there to meet us and deliver us to our rooms. The car was impeccably detailed which led us to an equal expectation at the hotel. We were not disappointed. Up to date and modern styling with all the amenities you should expect are waiting for you. The bar offers all the usual plus a local variety red wine called portage which is worth sampling. Unfortunately, the bar can be quickly overcrowded especially if there is any type of function taking place in the hotel. You can can escape around the corner to a restaurant called Mama Africa,recommended by the hotel, which offers interesting fare and more interesting people to watch.

My husband and I loved staying here for our honeymoon. Our ranger (Ryan J) was the best and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The food is delicious (they are very accommodating if you have any allergies/food aversions) and there's something for everyone. My husband was obsessed with the chocolate pudding! We also got a couples massage and it was extremely relaxing. Would definetly stay here again and recommend it for our friends.

We had a wonderful stay at the apartment and the staff especially Marlon who welcome us on arrival were very friendly and even recommend some good restaurants which was excellent.He even make sure the day tour pick us up right from our door step instead of us having to walk to the security guard which is further. He will go the extra mile to help us arrange for some activities such as Paragliding which the kids really enjoy as well as booking some of the tour for us. Also thank you to Faldiela for being very nice and helpful. We really love the location for it is just next to One and only and the small gate will lead you to waterfront which is just 5 min walk away. We will definitely stay in the apartment again if we do go back to beautiful capetown.Once again thank you for making our stay such a wonderful and pleasant one.

We stayed at Akademie for two nights during our honeymoon in South Africa. Wow - where to start? This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, certainly one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Rooms are actually vast suites which are beautifully decorated down to the finest detail! We were lucky enough to have both the hot tub and swimming pool to ourselves during our stay - though it was certainly more hot tub weather! Our favourite part of our stay was the 'drinks evenings' that were hosted every night with complimentary drinks and a pianist! These took place in the beautiful orangery - one of the most beautiful spaces we have ever seen. The breakfasts were exquisite and we were thoroughly full after them! Our host Declan was welcoming and informative from the start. If you are looking for a luxury stay in Franchshoek we would highly recommend this hotel!

On the main road in gorgeous Franschhoek; elegant rooms, amazing breakfast and the best staff and service. They will go out of their way to impress. Will definitely be back!

Can I say fabulous again...this was by far the best hotel that I have been too and I stay at five star hotels...but the service and grounds were awesome. I think there are 10 rooms so very intimate. The room(suite?)I stayed in had a private outdoor space that included shower, hot tub, lounge area and table and chars that we had breakfast the next morning. The room has a fireplace and a beautiful spa bathroom with soaking tub for two...very romantic...I will definitely return on my next trip to South Africa. I forgot to say that the airport transfer is in a old Rolls Royce...can you say class...family owned and operated hotel.

With the most breathtaking views, crashing waves, beautifully decorated rooms, unparalleled service, attention to detail and delicious food, this is without doubt one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. I didn’t want to leave. Says it all....

Every single employee bent over backwards to make our stay the most enjoyable it could be. It’s very difficult to get such good customer service. The location is a bit away from everything but Uber’s are inexpensive and easy to achieve. The staff were all amazing . The only negative is the way the rooms are set up. They are very tiny and you have to be careful getting on and off the bed without falling off platforms. It reminded us a lot like south beach hotels in Miami. We highly recommend

From the moment of arrival, you are aware that this is a very special place. Above all, the management and staff. They go beyond any level of service we have experienced in any 5star hotel in the world. Charming, thoughtful and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The position, high above Camps Bay, provides breath taking views, as well as quiet seclusion. The rooms are spacious and beautifully fitted out in every way. The best beds you will ever sleep on. Immaculate Mercedes fleet to ferry you wherever you want to go at very reasonable cost. The evening drinks and canapés get together is a brilliant idea, and means you get to know fellow guests. Only minor niggle is no coffee making facilities in some rooms. Seems an oversight? When we return to Cape Town next year, this will be our first port of call. Sensational place to stay in every way. We had the full board; and whilst a little pricey, we were extremely satisfied with our decision and what we received in return. The Staff are the nicest people you will meet and led by lovely Liza (Owner) who can not do enough for you. She also has trained her cooks to deliver her Grandmother's recipes so the food is first class with all the trimmings (yum, I miss them already). If you can afford it, I recommend to look no further and stay at Pondoro for your relaxing stay. We saw the big 5 and many more animals going out on our two safari drives per day. Your driver and guide are excellent so relax when you put your full trust in them, they know what they are doing. One of the best holidays of our lives and will never forget Kruger and Pondoro lodge.

Probably the loveliest guest house we stayed at during our visit to South Africa. Peter and Bradley were amazing hosts and went out of their way to be helpful and ensure we enjoyed our short visit. Wish we could have stayed longer, we didn't want to leave, it was so peaceful and the garden and pool were fantastic. Peter suggested a lovely winery for dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. Many thanks guys we would love to return.

Amazing experience, beautiful estate, great spa, awesome dinner at Qunu Restaurant and best of all the rooms are just spectacular. This hotels goes to great lengths to focus on detail to ensure that each guest experience is on comfort and luxury. Service very friendly and professional making this the best hotel in Johannesburg and one of the best in South Africa. We loved it and will be back.

I cant fault my time here at this hotel. As with most Hiltons the service was great and promt. Very clean and modern hotel in a convenient location. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced considering this is a 5 star hotel and good value I found, good quality & choice. The pool area is not that big, but it’s very clean without getting sore eyes from too many chemicals in water as many pools have in hotels. It has large gym too and well equiped. Hertz is in the basement car park. Very convenient considering Cabs in South Africa are expensive and hard to find. Durban has many more cabs that Joburg, but could still do with more and I recommend booking cars in advance of planned stays. This hotel is walkable to beach and near bye Shops, banks and markets. Really enjoyed my stay here and can recommened.

if you do not want to bother reading the following long review, just make sure you get my abbreviated stand on this hotel: outstanding in every respect. if i really want to nitpick, the only thing missing is a fitness center. otherwise, this is indeed a true 5-star hotel, as advertised. the food, the staff, the rooms, the service, the tours and the location score full marks. i stayed with my family of four (myself, my teenage brother, and my parents) in this 3-storey, 7-room boutique hotel in june 2012, for 7 nights. location: you might or might not yet have heard of the v&a waterfront. this waterfront is the equivalent of san francisco’s fisherman’s wharf and sydney’s waterfront. the hotel is located 10 (if you walk briskly) or 20 (if you amble slowly) minutes away from the v & a. either way, it is a very manageable walk to the waterfront. we walked a dozen times to and fro from the waterfront to the hotel at all times of the day (the latest we ever walked back was around 8 at night), and safety-wise, there was absolutely no problem. besides the waterfront, the 2010 world cup stadium is also the same distance away. there are restaurants, fast-food places and a supermarket at the waterfront, so everything we needed was within easy reach. staff: they were friendly, accommodating and warm. because of its friendly team, i am able to recall the names of those i interacted with during my stay: the owners, marc and riaan; cindy, de wade, gary, nkosi, oncemore, and serenity. the hotel: the interior design is elegant, contemporary, yet cozy. the sitting area, for instance, was furnished exquisitely with coffee table tomes; the sofas were comfortable; and the lights were warm and welcoming. you could actually spend an hour or two just sitting there and flipping through the books. the rooms: the rooms were huge, and the bathroom was just amazing. imagine a bathroom that is almost half the size of the already spacious room, and you are looking at the sug

Undiscovered gem well located in CapeTown. Can walk to the V&A Waterfront., Central downtown area and real grocery store (Pic&Pay) just a few blocks away on Strand.. Spotlessly clean. The single room units are quite commodious and the two room luxury suites are huge. When I mentioned our front-facing room (with a great view of Table Mountain) was noisy from street traffic, staff offered to move us to the back, quieter side. Gold star for accommodating staff. Shuttle service reliable and on time. Steak restaurant inside the building is OK for meat lovers but many other choices within a short walk. After long flights getting here, the washer/dryer was a godsend to restock our suitcases with clean clothes for the next few weeks. Breakfast on the rooftop (covered/enclosed) was way more than adequate— with hot entrees made to order. A definite recommendation if you want extended stay accommodations in Cape Town. Since no concierge per se, best for independent travelers.

This is a beautiful oasis and very elegant hotel to come to especially after a long flight. The rooms is large and well decorated and comfortable. The dining facilities and the menu offered is very good. Finally the location is excellent with Table mountain as a backdrop and the harbour shopping offering a quick taste of South African experience.

Magnificent views, beautifully furnished rooms with lovely bathroom. Bathroom includes large jacuzzi bath. For a five star establishment I did not like not being allowed to leave the hotel before my room and minibar was checked, even though a credit card authorisation was taken on check in. But I guess this is South Africa!

The accommodation was first class, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. The game drivers friendly and informative. Everything is very well organised. Because the lodge is in an open space all sorts of animals can wander through, therefore, in the evening when it is dark, you must be escorted to and from your lodge. The food was excellent. You are given a choice of menu in the afternoon before the game drive and your meal is ready on your return. When you return from the game drive, hot flannels and a drink await you. My only small comment is everything is very formal in the dining area. During our stay there were lots of couples and all the tables were set up to accommodate each couple. Everybody spoke in hushed tones. I felt very uncomfortable with the silence. At other safari lodges, smaller tables are available but there are also larger tables so that you can chat to people befriended on your game drive. It's more social and less formal.

Superb value for money, especially when making a last minute booking. Rooms are relatively cheap then, in comparison to booking in advance. Some facilities did not work ie. TV remote, telephone for reception, had to use cellphone (not a big issue, but it didnt work nonetheless) Staff not the best the I have encountered. Not taking proper orders for room service etc. But not a train smash Overall I would definitely return to stay at this hotel should I be attending a concert or event at the Casino

Hotel was great, I have been here many times. There was a problem , my confirmed booking and voucher was not recognized and the hotel and I was not effectively booked. The hotel was unwilling to budge. So I was left stranded at the lobby for an hour between 22:00 and 23:00, and had to call (using my cellphone) the call centre in US for emergency help. The callcentre eventually convinced the hotel that they had to give me a room and they negotiated prices basically in front of me at the reception. It was eventually all sorted, but this could have taken less time , and for a 5 star, I expected better service and speed in resolving this matter.

Leeu Estates is one of the most lovely places - the physical setting is stunning, the architecture and gardens are immaculate, the staff are excellent and thoughtful, and the overall experience is unparalleled. This was one of our favorite places (if not our favorite) in South Africa.

Overall we were very impressed with this property. We checked in late and we were upgraded as the property was not very busy on the night. :) This was a lovely gesture. Our room was large and well appointed. Dressing gowns awaited us. All the facilities one could think of were available! The dinner was excellent. Really enjoyed my camembert starter. The manageress on duty was friendly and accommodating. We felt very relaxed and looked after. There is a well stocked honesty bar that had everything we felt like during our stay. We even squeezed in a game of pool after dinner :) Massive safe secure parking area for your vehicle. Spectacular view which unfortunately we didn't have enough time to enjoy. Loved this hotel :D

The one thing however that stood out for me as a negative is that the Fancourt advert as shown on the tv channel is not representative of the demographic of South Africa at all. It features only white people in the advert. This to us was disturbing
