Faro hotels & places to stay

Stay 3 nights there, staff super friendly, everything is clean and tidy , breakfast is nice and enough to start your morning ( coffee, toast, cereal milk, fruit ) . Super well located and is safe. Maybe it will be even nicer if they have a pc to use but apart from that I was super happy.

We stayed here our fist night and just loved it, room 101 is really nice and super quiet. We stayed on our departure date as well as we had a 7 am train and it's across from the train and bus station, and very easy walk to historic district with bars and eateries. Room 108 on the opposite end was equally nice but there was noisy people below (not part of the hotel)until a little after midnight, but other than that, it was prefect.

The hotel was very cheap in the off season. It's 5 minutes walking distance from the main cantre, 8 to the sea/marina. The rooms were nice and cozy. The bed itself was superb. I only had the problem of parking which was full and I had to park on the narrow streetw of Faro and that for some reason the fridge was in the middle of the room and not in the intended place under the table. Checked out early on the 24h reception so I didn't try the breakfast.

Cute little residencial close to the harbour of faro. Room and bathroom were clean and the service was friendly. Good price as well. However, we would strongly suggest to install air conditioners since it gets very hot during the summer nights.

Easiness of finding hotel location: 5/10 It was located in a nook and cranny location, that asking directions from the locals were our best bet albeit the guidance of our GPS. Fortunately, there was a small white plaque situated on the left side of the main red door stating "RIA TERRACE", & the numbers of contact. Easiness of contacting host: 1/5 We stood out in the cold trying to ring the bell and call him. Just remember - calling code for Portugal lines are +351 before you key in the numbers on that white plaque. Parking: 4 - 5/5 FREE Parking spaces along the street are aplenty on the right side of RIA TERRACE. If there are not enough spaces, you may park near a church called Igreja de Sao Paolo, about 100 metres away, which requires a payment only from 9am to 8pm. Dining: 3/5 For dinner/supper, most shops only open at 7.30pm. Not before. Nonetheless, I would recommend supporting this cozy family-run cafe called FLAVIO, also situated about 100 - 200 m from RIA TERRACE, at R. Infante Dom Henrique 61A, Faro, Portugal. Savour authentic Portugese fare like Cod fish and Shark Meat for no more than 6.30 euros per dish (and its quite a big portion!), while fresh fruit juices go for 1.90 euro per glass. We were blessed that when the chef overcooked the portion and could not fill it on our plate, he dished it onto a smaller plate and served the remaining to us. Its also a blissful sight to see their young children helping out with laying the cutleries and table paper napkin. Very initiative and FLAVIO gives a very homely feel. Conclusion: FLAVIO saves the day!

staff at the hotel was friendly. the location is good, 5 minutes walk from the centre. You have to ring the bell each time you come back, staff does let you in always and immediately but still it was a bit annoying. The room is very small, the balcony incredibly small, I could not sit on my knees to have a cigarette. Ok that it was August but 70 euros a night for that room was a bit much, 45/50 would be fairer. Don't buy an umbrella if you want to go to the beach, ask the people at the hotel, they hopefully give you one of the many left by previous clients, I did not ask, although I asked a member of staff where to buy one and only later I discovered that the hotel has dozens of them probably used 2 or 3 times and left there. Anyway, staff and location was good, price a bit high

Great staff, delicious meals, cheap beer and VH1! It doesn't get much better than Le Penguin :)

The hostel is located on a very good spot and the staff is real friendly. Also it's clean and the beds are good for the price. If I go too Faro again; i'm defenitly are going to stay there again

Hotel is basic but clean and comfortable, and the staff are very helpful. Very good night's sleep! Short walk to the town centre. If you are coming to Faro just to stay in your hotel room all the time, why are you even in Faro?

It is very close to the city centre and very close to the bus station and train station, just 5 min walk. It is also close to the sites you would love to visit in Faro.

In the Old Town and within easy walking to the port, the bus/coach and train stations, this is a little gem of a guesthouse. Friendly welcome and spotlessly clean, it boasts a roof terrace, Wifi and a fully equipped kitchen. My room was small but perfectly adequate and represented good value. Warm bed and a heater were appreciated (and needed) during an unseasonally cold spell. There is inevitably some noise at night, so wear earplugs if you are a light slipper. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, shops too. Lots of information on site. So good and perfect as a base that I extended my stay. And there is a delightful and cute - if at first a little vociferous - little doggy. Prince will great you and likes cuddles! Food tip: as a vegetarian I had a little bit of a problem finding food other that pizzas and the like. I went to the ALGARVE FORUM (20mns walk or take the bus) where I found a good variety of outlets with a good choice of varied food at good value too. Visiting tips: Go to a show or do the visit of the LETHES Theatre, a short walk up from the main plaza: an utter gem of a place, quite unexpected (there is also a brand new theatre by the roundabout before the Algarve Forum).Whilst you're there, up another block will take you to the splendid and large Town Market. The size of some fish! And good place for lots of fresh food for picnics etc., incl. a superb bakery (delicious pastries!) and a supermarket in the he basement. All in all I had a very pleasant stay in Faro and have no hesitation in recommending Capitao Mor as an excellent place to stay.

Opus One was the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Warm welcome from the owner Joao and his friend Pedro. They were exceptionally warm and helpful. The breakfast was varied and delightful with small changes each day. Jacuzzi was fun.For those who were brought up with Port as a Christmas drink were clearly cheated of tasting the drink at its best, we had an amazing Port and luxury chocolate tasting session with Jaoa who gave an interesting and informative talk on our last evening. We can highly recommend this beautiful and special place to stay in Faro. Thank you Jaoa, Pedro and your lovely staff for making our short stay so memorable. I hope we can return one day. Good place to stay to explore Faro. Clean rooms and functional bathroom. Decent kitchen facilities.

My girlfriend and I had such a lovely stay here, the welcome was so friendly and provided great info with everything we needed to know about Faro. The property and room all beautifully designed and decorated this summer. Very comfortable, delicious breakfast and very tasty organic wine! I wish we had stayed here longer! Thank you so much!
