The location of the hotel is very good. Close to 2 subway lines and Xidan mall area. Hotel service is good, even remembers your birthday with a small cake. When we asked for candles to celebrate they tried very hard to find it for us. Quite impressed.

Good Room in a strategic location”
The room is spacious and comfortable. Location of this Hotel is strategic, only about 500m to Xidan Subway Station.
Good location, great price”
Nice room. But our AC did not work. I called front desk, but it was never fixed. We had 26 C in room... We did not need down blankets... Only stayed 2 nights so I did not make a stink about it. Real nice included breakfast buffet. 2 restaurants. OK pool, but small gym and no sauna or hot tub. Walking distance to Forbidden city, but still about 2-3 km away. Chinese blocks are huge. Lots of stores and department stores nearby too.
Good location, Value for Money, pity about the breakfast”
Grand Mercure is located in the middle of 2 MRT stations, and close enough to Tiananmen Square and Xidan Shopping zone to make it a good base for exploring the rest of Beijing. Being international, the service standards were good. The rooms were a bit dated but not run-down, clean and comfortable. I tried the breakfast once during my stay and i have to say it was a bit of a disappointment. The international selection was limited and service was slow, glasses were not replenished and used cutlery and crockery were not cleared promptly. Overall, a positive experience.
Confortable Room, Excellent Service, Central Locat”
On websites, the hotel lists itself near Gugong (Imperial Palace) and Wangfujing, but it is 2-3 subway stops away. Nevertheless, it is conveniently located: walking distance to the Domestic Airlines Building (where you get on the airport bus for a one-hour ride), Tian'anmen Square, and Xuenwuming subway station (Lines 2 and 4). North of Tian'anmen is the Imperial Palace. The staff's service is excellent. I needed to repack a cardboard box, and the hotel provided me packing tapes. The wi-fi is complimentary, as are two bottles of water each day. There are a swimming pool and fitness center in the basement, but there is no wi-fi there. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but there are restaurants in small alleys (hutongs) across the street.
Nice, centrally-located hotel with friendly staff”
This is the third time I come back to stay in this hotel. I like the idea of the hotel offering me to choose my type of pillow, that is a god-send to me because I am reliant to a good pillow for a good night rest. The teapot with jasmine teabags is also a nice touch for tea-lover like me.
Affordable stay near Tiananmen, business district”
I stayed at Grand Mecure for 2 nights on a business trip. It is well located near the business district. The hotel serves great breakfast and is a good all-in-one hotel with spacious gym and good size swimming pool. A great hide-away from the smog covering the city. Unfortunate wifi service though.
Great Hotel and Value for Money”
The hotel is strategically located and near to main attractions such as forbidden city, summer palace, etc. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is big and very clean. It's very quiet inside the room. All furnitures are new. Breakfast is ok although not excellent, but with the cheap price, we definitely very happy staying in this hotel. Recommended for all!!
Friendly for English speakers”
The staff spoke English well and ordered a taxi for me, the staff was kind and helpful ... also ordered beef burger it was amazing with very nice room service!
We find the experience in this hotel is way extraordinarily satisfying. The staff are polite, ”
.....competent and helpful. Will look for this destination any time in my next visit.
Great hotel, strict fitness centre”
Allowed us to check in much earlier in the morning and refunded us $ through Agoda , due to my booking mistake, even tho the room booked stated no refund and amendments. However if you're looking to swim in the swimming pool at B1, you will require a swimming cap, even if you are a male. Conveniently, they sell these swimming caps. :) You could also borrow a swimming cap from them which are probably caps that other swimmers lost.
Good location, service can be bettet”
The location was good, the service should improve. We arrived late with our baby and the hotel didn't provided a cot which I requested that in advance Next day we had to argue to get a baby cot which is a very standard service nowadays
Wonderful stay at Grand Mercure Wangfujing-Beijing”
We arrive quite early at Grand Mercure Hotel and the hotel staff was so friendly. Even they gave us room when we arrived there around 9.00 am. Location also very strategic and easy access to Beijing subway. Breakfast is so fantastic! Food was delicious!
Not bad but not good”
Arrived at the hotel late due to flight delay, Hotel sign totally in dark, taxi have to go round and round to seach for it. Staff friendly, but not helpful and knowledge and information, 10 questions out of 9 unable to answer(any even in the town during mide autumn .. ext). room mini bar not tally, mini bar drinks missing anything. ..breakfast utensil most of it are chip off (first time come across)..
A good hotel to stay”
This hotel is easy to find (we travelled by airport express and subway - cheap, quick and interesting) and very close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The Grand Mercure has an impressive entrance and is welcoming and clean, with a really excellent bedroom (we were upgraded to Executive Suite on the 10th floor). The buffet dining has a wide range of Chinese and Western food on offer and the staff are friendly but could perhaps be a little more proactive. Service one evening was quite slow, but the food was very good. We arranged the trip to thye Great Wall in the hotel and it was really good. We would stay here again.
Service needs to improve”
Many of the staff could not speak English. Even those in the reception desk! This lead to a lot of ping-pong-ing and miscommunications during our stay. needless to say, this is a major flaw in the tourism industry. I don't think it's my fault for not being able to speak Mandarin. This hotel has 4 stars and is part of a leading hotel chain (Accor), but the English proficiency and the service were not up to par to its counterparts in other countries. The breakfast offered a wide selection of food from Western to traditional Chinese cuisines. However, the taste wasn't good at all. They were mostly salty and oily. The pastries had the texture of cardboard. In the end, I could only eat the cereals and fruits they served. My room was nice. It was small but, nicely decorated. The shower had good pressure and the water temperature was easily adjustable. The Internet was stable too albeit a bit on the slow side.
Short visit to Beijing”
Some of hotel staff might need more training. The wi-fi in the room was so slow that when I needed to find a telephone number for an airline, I had to go to front desk to ask for help. I was told to do wait for the wi-fi and do it myself.
In need of major updating and renovation”
Hugely disappointed, if you arrive in the evening be prepared not to find the hotel due to the lack of signage. For some reason, management has decided to turn all lit signage off at night, even the receptionist told me they keep hearing the same complaint from all guests, taxis can't find the hotel. The rooms were smelly, old humid carpets, stains everywhere. It did not feel or look like an Accor property. Granted I was offered a courtesy upgrade to a suite that was the size of an apartment, enormous, but I would have much preferred a smaller nicer, fresher smelling modern small room than something big, outdated, old, uninspiring and utterly boring where all you see are stains throughout the carpets!
perfect for foreigner”
first time stay here after several times comes to beijing within this two years. before stay here, found a lot of local 4-5 stars hotel but the tv channel provide is local tv channel. after come to this hotel found out that the tv channel is a lot of international tv channel so very helpful when you dont want to go out at night or weekend especially in the winter periode. for the breakfast, i think is mot so different with local 4-5 stars hotel near this hotel. but dont know why i feel this hotel breakfast better in taste. the coffee also better. with this range room price, it is hard to find hotel with indoor pool facility. although i never try the pool but this facility give a plus point for this hotel. the location is perfect. it is very near to the business district area and in front of the hotel there is a street that you can find a lot of restaurant for dining. and also near to train station in case you dont want to take a cab in beijing.
Nice and comfortable stay”
I enjoyed my 4 nights stay and recieved an upgrade. Room was in a very good condition. Staff helped me Tour the city and translated for me even when I was outside; over the phone. The swimming pool was great as the fitness. Breakfast contained International food and was ok.
