Great Hotel,”
hotel m was a great place to stay in chiang mai, especially for the price. the pros regarding this hotel are that its is centrally located in the old part of chiang mai, very close to shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, and the sunday night market is right by hotel. the room also included a free mini bar and slippers. the rooms are modern with flat screen tv, ac and room safe. the cons are that there is little space to hang or put away your clothes. the beds are hard, which is typical for thailand. there are no dressers in the room and only four hangers for the small closet. the hot water is often non existent and there are no wash clothes in the rooms. staff expect to be tipped at the end of your stay. we didn't eat in the restaurant based on reviews we read.
Amazing location, Very Helpful staff”
I think the location was fantastic. We were just a short walk from El Diablo's and Mike's Burgers, two of the best eateries in Chiang Mai. To go to the airport only cost us 100 baht, and we were a 50 baht tuk tuk ride away from the Riverside restaurant and bar. Overall, to go anywhere was very cheap. Since this is located in Old City, it's super easy to walk around here too and get to know the city. We were able to walk to massage places, and there are other restaurants nearby. The staff was so so so nice and helpful with booking tours. We didn't have a flight til 10pm and they let us keep our room for 500 baht extra until 6pm that day. The rooms are small and nothing special, but they do the job and have flat screen TVs too. The shower wasn't the best (it went from burning hot to cold every minute) but we dealt with it and it was fine. We told the staff the soap was running low and they immediately filled it up. They also gave us complimentary water. I would definitely stay at M Hotel again!
Good location, clean, reliable wifi”
Located next door to a night market area with a really good atmosphere. A 20 minute stroll from Chiang Mai night-bazaar. To get to the bazaar you can walk through the main bar street: Loi Kroh road. The room was modern and very well presented. Wifi worked fine in the room. An access key can be picked up from reception and will last 24 hours each. Also had 3 desktop PC's situated in the lobby. No complaints about wifi here. Laundry. I was advised by a member of staff to use the laundry to the left of the hotel when you walk out of the reception. The old lady appears not to have an identification system and also "forgot" to return one of my shirts. Luckily I checked mine. Reception staff appeared as friendly at this hotel. No complaints about them. The one-day trip to Chiang Rai, the golden triangle, and long-neck tribe is an interesting, if long, day out. Beware that the price (circa 700 baht) you are charged at the office in Chiang Mai does not cover the cost of the boat on the Mekong (300 baht) or the cost to see the long neck tribe (300 baht). The white temple at Chiang Rai is beautiful.
Location Location Location”
The hotel is located just inside the Thae Phae gates in the old city. Excellent location. There is a Brix restaurant within the hotel, although we did not eat there. Our first room faced out to the very busy street, and was noisy, not particularly big, and was noisy (yes, I mentioned it twice). We were able to move to another room the next day, at the back of the hotel. While the view was of a construction site, it was very quiet when the construction worker went home at 4:30pm. No problem, we were out most of the day anyways. The room is very comfy, with a kingsized bed, and small writing table. Breakfast was not included, but found a great little restaurant close by, that served both American and Thai style meals. I preferred the Thai breakfast...very good. My Partner tried the American breakfast, and found it also good. Best about the hotel, is that it is located right next to the Sunday Walking Market. Amazing. Was one of the best ones I have had the opportunity to attend. You can get anything to eat. It was quite the cool experience. Lot of handicrafts...don't forget to bargin too! Some things here cannot be found in other Thai cities (Bangkok, Pattaya & Samui). So, if they say made in Chiang Mai, it probably was. Enjoy!
Well worth the price”
Spent 4 nights at the Hotel M Chiang Mai during the Loi Krathong festival and took many tours. Hotel was very conveniently located for tour pickups and dropoffs. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room offered free coffee, tea, water peanuts daily. Very nice. Breakfast was simple, plentiful, and good. The room was nicely laid out with plenty of outlets. A/C worked great. The bathroom shower water pressure was excellent. But, the bathroom was old and a little smelly probably from mildew. Internet connection in the room was very bad. For the price was right and would recommend to others.
Second time to stay at Hotel M, and I needed a place in a pinch.”
Friendly staff with prompt assistance and a great location close to Phae Gate. When I went to the Chiang Mai bus station thinking (incorrectly) that I could get a bus the same day to Chiang Rai I needed a hotel in a pinch for an additional day in Chiang Mai, thankfully Hotel M came to the rescue. I had spent a week here earlier in the year and will likely stay at Hotel M again.

Great Location with good facilities”
The Hotel M provided us with an excellent stay in Chiang Mai. Its location is very central with plenty of restaurants and access to tuk tuks available. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms very clean and comfortable. The A/C and Wi-Fi were excellent and the bed was comfortable. We highly reccomend the Hotel M for anyone travelling to Chiang Mai.
Great Location, High quality hotel.”
I stayed one night at the Hotel M, prior to finding a cheaper hostel in Chiang Mai. The check in was great and I was pleasantly surprised to find the room to be very clean and well stocked (towels, toiletries, and frdge). Good TV channels, and the wifi worked well in the room. The only thing I can say on the negative is that when I asked for an extension they quoted a price higher than what I booked on Agoda! They eventually quoted a price the same as Agoda, but I found a nice hostel for half the price. I would definitely stay there again however.
True comfort at incredible price”
I've been in Chiang Mai for many times, and I have stayed in many hotel range 1-5 stars. I have to say that this place is amazing, the location is close to almost everything like walking street, tour agency, car rental, old city that you can do the tour yourself, good massage, delicious local and international restaurant with ease of transportation by the red truck to everywhere. I book the room without breakfast so I don't know how is it (to buy it separately cost THB200/person). The room is clean and comfortable, has everything I want and I'm sad to leave the bed every morning. It's a small room, about 24-25sqm, but that's all I need. I think I'll try bigger room next time.
Good Old Standby”
hotel m chiang mai, formerly the montri, has been my place to stay in chiang mai since 2005. even though the hotel has undergone a recent renovation, it's still a bit worn around the edges. however, you can't beat the location and value.
Perfect location and good friendly helpful staff”
Hotel M offers a good solid base for exploring Chiang Mai. the rooms are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are good and the showers are hot and strong... just what you need after a few days in the mountains. while the decor and communal areas wont win any design awards, the rooms are grrat value compared to other rooms in the area.
Centrally located”
I have stayed at Hotel M on a number of occasions due to its location. It is within walking distance to markets and just a short tuk tuk trip from the airport and Airport Plaza. I have always found the staff helpful and friendly and the rooms clean. It is useful to have a fridge in the room which isn't a mini bar...handy for keeping food shopping. On this last trip the restaurant was closed for refurbishing which was a little disappointing but understandable. I will definitely stay here on my future stays in Chiang Mai. I live in the south and this is a welcome stop over on my trips to Pai.
Very helpful, friendly staff, good, clean rooms”
Great stay - would definitely go back. Stored our luggage for us to assist us; Easy check-in and out; staff went out of their way to help, eg. securing passing taxis, etc. Rooms were very clean and well-equipped with things we don't normally get for that price range in Chiang Mai, eg. tea/coffee making facilities. We had a mountain view room, at the back of the Hotel and were on the top floor, which we found to be very good as it was very quiet, even though the Hotel is centrally located. For us, the only down-side was we like a little more space, but we have checked out the deluxe rooms for future visits.
Great location and friendly staff”
We staryed at Hotel M Chiang Mai for 3 nights and used it mainly as a base to get around Chiang Mai. It is situated right in the wall of the old city so it you plan to get around on foot it is fantastic location. Of course Tuk Tuks, Songtaos and taxis are also available at the door if needed. Feels like a business hotel, rooms are basic and on the smaller side but easily accomodated an extra bed for our children. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner but not terrible. The noise that other reviewers had complained about was not as bad as expected. We were on 4th floor on the wall side but the windows are double glazed and what can you expect from being on a busy road? or maybe we were just expecting worse :)Staff were happy to assist with site seeing and other providing other information. All in all great hotel if you are just planning to sleep there, great location and friendly staff.
Home away home and would definitely be back!”
My husband and I stayed ther M hotel for a week. Initially, we were booked only for three nights, but we ended uo extending by three more nights and we even recommended it to our family members, who spent a few days with us in Chiang Mai. It is a very simple, but clearn and comfortable hotel. The location is perfect as it is in the border with the old city and the extended part of the city. It is also very convenient for visiting the night market. Staff are friendly. Nothing special or luxurious about it, but if you are looking for a comfortable and economical place to stay, we would highly recommend it.
Lovely modern hotel...”
This hotel is just what you hope for in Chiang Mai....centrally located in Chiang Mai at the Thapae Gate. The staff were helpful and friendly. We were disappointed with the breakfast especially after asking for hot coffee to only receive Luke warm on both occasions. The cafe is expensive. There are plenty of great Thai restaurants with walking distance or a short tuk tuk ride from the hotel. The room was clean.
Nice hotel in a good location”
located next to the tha phae gate inside the old city of chiang mai the hotel m is a nice hotel. the room was clean and decent and the staff is very good. the restaurant is also very good and they have an excellent breakfast. the bathroom was a little small but everything worked well, no problem with the water temperature.
Good location, great services”
i love my stay at the m hotel. the hotel is well decorated with the modern design and free wi-fi. the location is great, just right next to sunday walking street. the food at the restuarant "bric" is delicious. i will definitely stay there again if i go back to chiang mai.
Nice view and good service”
I really enjoyed my stay here at Hotel M Chiang Mai because of the good services, the staff are really accomodating and the hotel are near to all especially the night market every sunday and the tapae gate.
This hotel will save you some transportation money”
Me and my wife stay for 3 nights. The staffs are very helpful. One of them introduced us Central Festival which had its grand opening one week before our stay in this hotel. It sits just in front of Thapae Gate (the eastern entrance to the old quarter) and centrally located in between the night bazaar and the old quarter. We can reach literally everywhere by foot and bicycle (we rented bicycle from this hotel cost 90 bath per day. Rent from the bicycle rental shop would be cheaper, about half the price). We got a corner room on the 5th floor which overlooking Thapae Gate and part of the city skyline. Another great thing about its location is that the Sunday Walking Market start right there. All in all we enjoy staying in M Hotel and soul recommend everyone to try it.
