Magical experience”

One of the most beautiful heritage hotels in Southeast Asia! I loved absolutely everything about it, including its spa. Attentive and proactive staff, which is rare. Excellent central, yet serene location. The room is huge and well maintained.

One of the best stay I've experienced. Noticed this hotel when I was looking for the tourism spot in Surabaya. It was mentioned one of the historical building is now became a hotel. Checked the info and highly intrigued. I was mesmerized by the history of this hotel and how it is preserved. The structure is still the same as maybe 100 years ago. It is amazing how they preserved all the beautiful details and nuance. The beautiful garden in inside is beautifully maintained and can be enjoyed from the balcony. All the staffs were nice and helpful. I took the Heritage hotel tour and got the opportunity to peek the 2 storey Presidential Suite. Will definitely come back to this hotel when I visit Surabaya in the future so I can enjoy all the facilities and comfort. Staying in this hotel is not just a stay. It is an experience and exploration to the reminiscence of the past and history. Indonesia needs more historical hotel like this

Historic hotel with great hospitality”

All staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was very decent and beautiful. The architecture was maintained exactly the same with the original condition. The breakfast options are plentiful and guest can order 1 out of 4 special breakfast options catered specially for hotel guest. Large pool and maintained properly. Really recommended and will come back again someday.

Great, historic hotel”

This is my second stay at the Majapahit Hotel and I love it even more now. The staff are incredible and very helpful with business things and lost belongings. The rems are beautifully decorated with antiques. The hotel is old but it this case it is a huge asset because it's got an amazing history and is part of Indonesia's independence story. The architecture is also something to look out for. If you like going to the gym then the equipment is a bit old, but that is probably the only criticisms I can make and it's not enough to detract from the overall feel.

It was great hotel with the historic background, the building and landscape were highly maintained, hotel room & bathroom were clean, staff were friendly, many choice of breakfast menu, and the hotel view was so instagramable. We're so happy to stay at this hotel and will be back for sure.

Why stay in a concrete box when you can have space, grandeur and greenery?”

The Majapahit is a rare gem - it has a small street frontage but is deep away from the road, in contrast to a multistorey box hotel. The rooms front onto 2 green squares and are spacious and well appointed. Food is good, with a good selection. The bar has a live band (I was there on a Thursday) in the evening. One word of caution - the spa and fitness centre is well appointed, however, if you are male and thinking your tired legs after a trek up Ijen & Bromo can get some relaxing deep tissue massage, sadly you are going to be disappointed as they do not offer male masseuse and they would only massage my lower legs...

Good service and great location”

The staffs made me feel the warm welcome upon arrival. They are patient and helpful to all my queries. Location is also convenient and within short walk to Tunjungan Plaza. Despite being in the centre if the city, the room is quiet and peaceful. No trace of being in the middle of all the hassle of the city.

Good value for money Nostalgic ”

2nd time we stayed in this nostalgic hotel in Surabaya. Loved the ambience & quietness Location is great as TP1-6 malls are just stone throw away yet no hustle. Broke a glass which cost $10 which I think is overcharging

Back to the colonial era”

I love the building & room interiors where everything is so classic like we were back in the colonial era. Staffs are really helpful & attentive to my requests. The garden area is so spacious which make the ambience so peaceful.

Historic, Iconic and Beautiful”

This is probably the most enjoyable hotel I have stayed at in Indonesia. It's amazing how well preserved they keep this more than 100 year old property. If you appreciate early 20th century architecture, this place is a gem.

I first stayed at Hotel Majapahit when I was attending a convention in Surabaya several months ago. I enjoyed the historical building and associated tradition along with excellence service. I returned with my Indonesian business partner and his family for a long weekend and for shopping at Tunjungan Mall. A wonderful experience again.

Security concern at front desk”

1 night stay as stopover. All staff were good, helpful and friendly till the last part, checking-out. The staff doing my check-out greatly upset me from a security stand-point. He took my credit card for settlement of restaurant dining bill and hotel taxi payment. When I asked for my credit card returned, he said he returned me. I checked and showed him my empty wallet and told him that he had not returned my card, only to get a sheepish smile and a return of my card with no further comments or words from the staff. This was at 6:30am on a Thurs, when there was no one in the lobby and no one checking out. Return of credit card is the most basic practice and will definitely cause the hotel guest a lot of trouble without the credit card when one is flying out of the country. This should never had happened in this renowned 5 Star hotel.

It’s a sanctuary actually not a mere hotel and lies right in the heart of Surabaya which means everywhere within a reach although public transport is not Surabaya’s plus side, but if you can afford this hotel who needs public transport service anyway ? The staffs are good and helpful, and during breakfast they are everywhere ready to serve you with smile. The room was clean and neat complete with old style furniture which get along with the hotel’s theme. The food was beyond my expectation with variety of it, you will even find ‘jamu’ (traditional herbal drinks) served. Everything was served in old style dining room which makes it even more personal and if you are rather claustrophobic you can have breakfast at a veranda complete with equator sun which will make your skin tan. Will I go back ? Hmm... If the hotel offers discount I will

Historic hotel with Class”

If you like a bit of history then this hotel is for you. The buildings are maintained in the colonial manner and the staff are very attentive. Breakfast options were plentiful and free nibbles with tea or coffee were available until late afternoon. The hotel is situated a short walk from the huge new shopping mall so options aplenty for all food tastes. The hotel even has its own on-site doctor which takes away the pain (excuse the pun) of looking for a local clinic.
