It's a worse and third class hotel. Stuffs are not friendly. ”
I will not recommend any friends or family to stay in this hotel. Rubbish.
I got my earring "Stolen" Or Lost”
The location is little away from Mall road. There is dark alley through which you can go but be careful. The room at the top was fascinating but too high to climb. :( but you could stay up if you are looking for somewhere quiet.
Very hospitable professional and courteous staff.
Good hotel, though slightly far from mall road. Food is good, staff is helpful.
Good location and easy to walk to restaurants, etc. If booking a tour, ask to see the brochure to avoid any misunderstanding.Staff were very pleasant and helpful, food at restaurant was good, breakfast is basic Indian.
nothing is impressive ”
we booked rooms for 3 families, which includes 2 children and 2 infants. but our rooms was on 5th floor(there was no lift).hot water available only for 7-10 in morning and 5-9 in evening.rude staff with pathetic services(not everyone).
Use ofHot water restricted. Wifi connection very bad, booked delux room but were given basic double room and they would not change. Bathroom very primitive. Does not warrant 4 star rating given to this hotel. The weather was unseasonally cold and we were told we could had a small 2 Bar heater for an extra 300 rubees per night. Dining room had no heating. Only good thing about this hotel was the staff who were very helpful regarding th change in our travel itinerary.
Great for the price but a few things to improve”
Our room, 303, had a fantastic double-aspect view of the city & mountains. The room itself was clean, spacious & relatively comfortable, & a cup of 'welcome' tea was a nice touch. The bed was quite hard, and we also found the room quite cold - there is no heating. The rave reviews about the hotel restaurant are justified - we ate dinner here twice during our 3-night stay and the momos, noodles and pakoras were fantastic - big portions too! Our one big disappointment was that the hotel messed up our trip to Tiger Hill. At 4.30am, jeep drivers came to pick up other guests by room number, but no-one came for us. The night porter asked us what room were in, then when he clearly didn't know about a booking for that room, asked which agent we'd booked with. When we clarified that we had booked the trip at the hotel reception, he made a phone call & told us that our driver was not coming because he was sick. Sorry, I don't believe that. Luckily we managed to find our own transport.
We were upgraded to Little Tibet which was their sister hotel. Loved the place by it was but dark inside. Rooms were decent and food was expensive. Breakfast was not that great.
Nice but no wifi”
This hotel was nice, beautiful inside and the restaurant is good. However, the wifi did not work at all the entire time we were there. We asked for assistance about this multiple times and still it never worked. Room service was also really bad. We asked for towels and toilet paper 5 times and never got it. In the end I had to go downstairs and asked the restaurant staff who finally gave us toilet paper. This place is nice but not having wifi really Made we rate it lower.
Not a value for money”
Center of town”
Room was old and water was cold, old tube TV, noisy as rooms had windows opening into the corridor. No elevator. Convenient to the small commercial center as only about 10 minutes walk uphill.
Excellent Stay with Family”
We had a nice stay at HSS. Mall Road hardly 2Min walk from Hotel. Excellent Food even for Children. I would recommend travellers to book this hotel with meal plan (Breakfast & Dinner only), It would be much cheaper than outside with great taste.
A good inexpensive option in Darjeeling”
While in Darjeeling I stayed in 3 hotels, with Hotel 717 being my first stop (the other two were Central Heritage and Mayfair). Hotel 717 was a nice place to stay. The room was comfortable and I especially liked the heating pad in the bed to keep me warm since it was really cold during my stay. On the down side, there was no hot water, the wifi was only available in a small portion of the lobby and was very inconsistent, and the room did not have towels or toilet paper when I arrived and it took the staff longer than it should have (more than 20 minutes) to bring them when I requested it. Overall, would definitely recommend as a nice place to stay however, though Central Heritage was my favorite of the 3.
A Good stay.”
We stayed in hotel seven seventeen during 3rd to 5th October 2014 in room No 206. room was cozy but no view of mountains. The bathing area had a problem of drainage, the bathroom was really small and very less light. otherwise the staffs were really helpful, the ambiance was good. the best part of the hotel was the dining area and bar. the souvenir shop was also reasonable.
A little bit pricey for this”
They only have wifi at the lobby and not in the room. Their water heater is available at certain hours in the day. Not sure if their rooms have heater during winter time because I was there during summer therefore AC or heater wasnt needed. Hotel is clean, proper, room service, good restaurant, breakfast. But other than that I think it is abit too pricey for a hotel in India (maybe because Darjeeling is a popular tourist place). No elevator.
Much below our expectations”
It was a very downmarket feel however the charges were pretty high as compared to the facilities and location. The area is horribly congested. My parents who are senior citizens had to walk a good 200 mts to reach the car. The whole street on which the hotel is located is so congested and filthy. The rooms were decent however the bathrooms may need a bit of renovation to keep up with times. Hot water is only available for couple of hours in morning and evening. The breakfast does not have that much of variety as expected in quality hotels but anyways decent by budget hotel standards. The food is decent and the rates are reasonable. The hotel needs to keep a separate smoking zone as the guests are allowed to smoke in the main area which does not have sufficient ventilation and becomes it a problem for others. The staff was attentive but
Gorgeous Sightseeing great tea farms”
Hotel location is good, Staff are friendly and always smiling. Room service is good with a wide variety of Indian and Chinese food, however the western options in the menu are just there for the sake of it as it is never available. Also the room service ethics is missing as they enter the room without you responding to their knock. The privacy factor is missing and needs to be looked into.
