15 mins walk to Shinjuku station”
It was a far walk from hotel to shinjuku station, at least 15 mins walk. If you got shopping bags, then you will be so tired to walk to your hotel. The room is big as i got a triple sharing room. But the toilet is super small...like a portaloo. I chose this hotel as it was close by to Washington Hotel. The airport limousine stops at this hotel. Next time i will stay closer to Shinjuku station.
I booked this hotel since their location to all ofnourofnour tour in Japan is walking distance from the pick up area of the tour bus that we booked, but if you want to go to the train station you need to walk at least 15 to 20 mins away vise versa. the rooms are clean they always clean the room even if you dont request for it. thank you.
Very Cozy and Comfortable”
Wanting to be near the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku area, I chose Sun Members for its close location and affordable price rates. The rooms are comparatively larger for the price and the additional services that come along. I even loved their buffet breakfast. 👍👍👍 Only drawback is the hotel itself can be pretty tricky to find. :)
Average 6D5N stay”
We thought that the location is about 10~15 minute walk from JR Shinjuku, however it's not accurate and impossible. We took between 20~30 minute walk on average to and fro hotel and JR Shinjuku. We are not slow walkers as our speed is usually quite fast. The staff is not friendly at most times. The only time we felt hospitality was when we checked out. The staff who assisted us was helpful and made sure our luggage are easily collected by LuggAgent driver. Also one of our pyjamas was anyhow placed on top of table lamp after the room was made up during one of the days. The hotel room size is small as usual for hotels in Tokyo so it is not a surprise for us. . On a good side, the beds are quite comfortable.
Worth the money”
Room is big compare with other hotel in Tokyo.Good location,1 min to airport limousine station.2 mins walk to subway station.10 mins walk to Shinjuku JR Station.Laundry machine are available in next building.
Good deal in Shinjuku Area”
Stayed in 2 family rooms good for 4 to 5 adults per room, which is relatively big compared with usual hotel rooms in Japan. Location is superb. Just a few hundred meters away from Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Quite some walk going to Shinjuku train and shopping area but, there are several convenience stores nearby.
1) Overpaid for this hotel. 2) Staff is not flexible enough to help us store our luggage when we are going for 2d1n trip out of city. 3) Staff does not understand English which resulted in communication breakdown. 4) Will never stay in this hotel ever again. 5) Poor experience in Tokyo staying in this hotel.
reasonable price, location acceptable but staff english level average”
3 beds room for this price in Tokyo is very acceptable. But for 1st customer, location can be difficult to find. Once you know the way, it is around 10 mins from the south gate of Shinjuku station. Staffs are friendly but English need some improvement. Everything else is as expected from this price
very good.. near to shinjuku station.
Standard hotel with all the necessary amenities ”
Walking distance to Train Station but it is just besides Washington Shinjuku Hotel airport limousine bus stop. Breakfast was fabulous with Japanese, Western & Chinese buffet selection. Rooms are big if comparing to other more costly hotel even though a bit dated. Even comes with bathtub.
Booked a quad room with breakfast included”
There were 4 single beds & room was big. Toilet was small which is not an issue. Housekeepers did a good job. Everyday came back to very clean room. It's about 15 to 20 mins walk from JR Shinjuku. Eventhough there are many people walking , the wide pedestrian path made it so relaxed & stress free lugging our luggages. Hotel is very near the Tokyo Metropolitan Building & there are many other beautiful buildings to admire After a long tiring day out sightseeing & shopping catch a taxi back to the hotel from Shinjuku metro & it cost about ¥700
Quiet but accessible location. ”
Quiet but accessible location, 9 mins to a subway (not JR). Less than 15mins to Shinjuku shopping centre and Kieo. Breakfast was okay, mainly Japanese dishes, everyday same breakfast though. Everything was okay, except that they don't have extra pillow, not sure don't have or don't want to give. Staffs speak little English as I told them not to give me new towels and Toiletries, they still give me daily....
Value for money, good service, substantial breakfast”
I've read many negative comments before traveling, & it comes up a very enjoyable stay for me! I think those putting negative comments are not frequent travelers, e.g. we can easily search the hotel location with Google map, & we should know the standard of a 3-star hotel. All staff are pleasant, helpful & speak fluent English. Of course the highlight of the hotel is the substantial buffet breakfast, with clean, tasty food & even organic veggie & fruit, what can we ask for more at such price? For sure I'll come back next time when I travel to Tokyo!
Brilliant Japanese service ”
Overall a very good value for money hotel. Although a little difficult to find and much further from the metro than I had anticipated , the hotel itself was excellent. Room was fine but be prepared that it's small - not unusual in Japan..
Staffs were friendly and helpful when i asked for information, they searched on the internet and printed out the map and timetable for me. the breakfast is good with widespread of choices for a 3 star hotel. The rooms are clean and slightly more spacious than i thought for the the price. i would think might be their first time to japan for those who complained about the room size in reviews. The hotel is located slightly away from Shinjuku Heart but it is generally good with no complains.
The hotel is generally good with no complains. Staffs were friendly and speaks good English. The rooms are clean and slightly more spacious than its other counterparts around the area. It's close to Shinjuku JR Station West Exit but it will still take about 10-15 minutes walk to the hotel, which is pretty far is you're travelling with a baby. Nevertheless, it is a good hotel as it is surrounded by all the things for your convinience.
more than what i have expected”
I really had a great time with my stay, the room is clean, they have provided me everything i needed during my stay. They even provided us a nice kimono that we can use as pajama. (I had fun using it) The room is actually big compared to other budget hotel in Tokyo. I will definitely book again in this Hotel. Don't mind the negative reviews.
Comfortable, quite convenient hotel for Shinjuku”
Had no problem staying at this hotel and would stay again. Ignore comments from people with no experience of hotels in Japan. All affordable hotels in Japan are of the same type - the standard Japanese business hotel with the very small, prefabricated bathroom. For larger bathrooms in Japan, you need to spend a lot more money on your hotel. I have been travelling to Japan 1-3 times a year for fifteen years and the rooms and bathrooms in all of the standard Japanese business hotels almost exactly the same. As usual this one was very clean and fully functional with perhaps slightly more space in the room than I have experienced in previous Japanese business hotels. I did not eat in the hotel so I have no comment about the food. The location is relatively convenient. On this trip to Tokyo the Sun Members Tokyo Shinjuku hotel was the closest that I could find to the Shinjuku JR East station and main shopping areas - it is a 5-10min walk from the south exit of Shinjuku JR East station, another 2-3min walk to the east/west exits of the station. Along the walk to the station there are plenty of excellent restaurants including noodle shops, sushi bars and Izakaya's. The hotel is just around the corner from the Shinjuku Washington hotel which means that you can get the airport "Limousine Bus" to the Washington and then only walk 5min to the Sun Members Tokyo Shinjuku hotel. If you are arriving in Tokyo at the JR East station then you need to exit via the South Exit. If it's raining then use the underground tunnel which goes from the station all the way to the Washington Shinjuku hotel (but they might be stairs). To find the hotel from the Shinjuku Washington hotel, turn left on exiting from the Shinjuku Washington hotel and walk a short distance to the next alley with a car refilling/repair shop on the corner (and a Eunos sign?). Turn left down the alley and walk past the vending machines until you see the side entrance for Sun Members on your right.
CLean, comfortable and good staff”
Good "business hotel". The hotel is a bit of a walk from the JR station (10-15minutes), and you need to walk up about 12 steps to get into the building (no elevator so may be hard for older people), but other than that, the place was great. Clean modern room with all the amenities you need. Wifi was only available in the lobby, but you can get internet with a cable in the rooms. The restaurant was really nice (great wagyu beef) and the staff were helpful. I would stay here again if i returned to Tokyo
Cheap with good location”
cheap price with a good location, just a little bit too far from the JR station. But still, it is located at one of the hottest spot in Tokyo. The room is new and comfortable. So i will stay here again if i go to Tokyo. i think i will recommend my friend to go, too.
